    Emerging trends on the topic of Information Technology in the field of Educational Sciences: a bibliometric exploration

    The paper presents a bibliometric analysis on the topic of Information Technology (IT) in the field of Educational Sciences, aimed at envisioning the research emerging trends. The ERIC data base is used as a consultation source; the results were subjected to productivity by authors, journals, and term co-occurrence analysis indicators for the period 2009-2013. The productivity of Computers & Education, and Turkish Online Journal of Educational Technology-TOJET, as well as the preceding authors from Canada, have been emphasized. The more used terms are the following: Information technology, foreign countries, educational technology, technology integration, and student attitudes. Researches performed here seem to have a largely qualitative character, highlighting computers and internet as the mostly explored technological objects. The largest subject matter trend refers to the integration of IT in the higher education learning context, and its incidence over the teaching methods

    On the existence and convergence of polyhomogeneous expansions of zero-rest-mass fields

    The convergence of polyhomogeneous expansions of zero-rest-mass fields in asymptotically flat spacetimes is discussed. An existence proof for the asymptotic characteristic initial value problem for a zero-rest-mass field with polyhomogeneous initial data is given. It is shown how this non-regular problem can be properly recast as a set of regular initial value problems for some auxiliary fields. The standard techniques of symmetric hyperbolic systems can be applied to these new auxiliary problems, thus yielding a positive answer to the question of existence in the original problem.Comment: 10 pages, 1 eps figur

There are exposed the four dimensions of information quality as part of an indicators integration which characterize the informational contents.     Can one detect a non-smooth null infinity?

    It is shown that the precession of a gyroscope can be used to elucidate the nature of the smoothness of the null infinity of an asymptotically flat spacetime (describing an isolated body). A model for which the effects of precession in the non-smooth null infinity case are of order r2lnrr^{-2}\ln r is proposed. By contrast, in the smooth version the effects are of order r3r^{-3}.     We calculate the vorticity of world--lines of observers at rest in a Bondi--Sachs frame, produced by gravitational radiation, in a general Sachs metric.     Polyhomogeneity and zero-rest-mass fields with applications to Newman-Penrose constants

    A discussion of polyhomogeneity (asymptotic expansions in terms of 1/r1/r and lnr\ln r) for zero-rest-mass fields and gravity and its relation with the Newman-Penrose (NP) constants is given. It is shown that for spin-ss zero-rest-mass fields propagating on Minkowski spacetime, the logarithmic terms in the asymptotic expansion appear naturally if the field does not obey the ``Peeling theorem''. The terms that give rise to the slower fall-off admit a natural interpretation in terms of advanced field. The connection between such fields and the NP constants is also discussed. The case when the background spacetime is curved and polyhomogeneous (in general) is considered. The free fields have to be polyhomogeneous, but the logarithmic terms due to the connection appear at higher powers of 1/r1/r. In the case of gravity, it is shown that it is possible to define a new auxiliary field, regular at null infinity, and containing some relevant information on the asymptotic behaviour of the spacetime. This auxiliary zero-rest-mass field ``evaluated at future infinity (i+i^+)'' yields the logarithmic NP constants.Comment: 19 page

    Production of gaseous and liquid chemicals by aqueous phase reforming of crude glycerol: Influence of operating conditions on the process

    The present work studies the influence of the temperature (200-240 °C), pressure (38-50 bar), glycerol concentration (10-50 wt.%) and mass of catalyst/ glycerol mass flow rate ratio (W/mglycerol = 10-40 g catalyst min/g glycerol) during the aqueous phase reforming (APR) of a glycerol solution obtained from the production of biodiesel. The operating conditions exerted a statistically significant influence on the reforming results. Specifically, the global glycerol conversion and the carbon converted into gas and liquid products varied as follows: 4-100%, 1-80% and 16-93%, respectively. The gas phase was made up of H2 (8-55 vol.%), CO2 (34-66 vol.%), CO (0-4 vol.%) and CH4 (6-45 vol.%). The liquid phase consisted of a mixture of alcohols (monohydric: methanol and ethanol; and polyhydric: 1, 2-propanediol, 1, 2-ethanediol, 2, 3-butanediol), aldehydes (acetaldehyde), ketones (C3-ketones: acetone and 2-propanone-1-hydroxy; C4-ketones: 2-butanone-3-hydroxy and 2-butanone-1-hydroxy; and cyclic ketones), carboxylic acids (acetic and propionic acids) and esters (1, 2, 3-propanetriol-monoacetate), together with unreacted glycerol and water. The relative amount (free of water and un-reacted glycerol) of these compounds in the liquid phase was as follows: monohydric alcohols: 4-47%, polyhydric-alcohols: 14-68%, aldehydes: 0-5%, C3-ketones: 2-33%, C4-ketones: 0-10%, ciclo-ketones: 0-6%, carboxylic acids: 2-43%, and esters: 0-46%. This process turned out to be highly customisable for the valorisation of crude glycerol for the production of either gaseous or liquid products. Gas production is favoured at a low pressure (39 bar), high temperature (238 °C), high W/mglycerol ratio (38 g catalyst min/g glycerol) and employing a 15 wt.% glycerol solution. A high pressure (45 bar), medium temperature (216 °C), medium W/mglycerol ratio (22 g catalyst min/g glycerol) and the feeding of a 16 wt.% glycerol solution favours the production of liquid products
