We have performed continuum-discretized coupled channels (CDCC) calculations of the breakup of 8B on 58Ni and direct proton transfer for the 8B+58Ni system at laboratory energies of 20-28.4 MeV. The influence of the 7Be core-target optical potential (OP) on the breakup cross section was investigated. Elastic scattering angular distributions for the 7Be+58Ni and 8B+58Ni systems at five different energies around the Coulomb barrier were studied, and a reasonable energy-independent OP for each system was obtained. Using these OPs and two different 7Be-p relative motion wave functions, and summing breakup and direct proton transfer contributions, we were able to fit the experimental cross section at a 8B laboratory energy of 25.75 MeV. We calculated the excitation function for the 7Be emission in the 8B+58Ni reaction, where 7Be products were measured at the forward angle θlab=45° in the energy interval Elab=20-28.4 MeV. In view of the peripheral character of the B8 breakup reaction at near-barrier energies, we could extract the asymptotic normalization coefficient for the 7Be-p system, which was found to be CBe-p,p3/22=0.543±0.027 fm-1. Finally, the astrophysical S17(0) factor was found to be S17(0)=20.8±1.1 eV b.Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación FPA2006-13807-c02-01Programa Consolider-Ingenio 2010 CSD2007-0004

Research problem. To expand international dialogue, increase competitiveness in the Russian and foreign educational markets, to deepen educational cooperation and increase the share of students from China, a comprehensive sociological study was conducted. The aim of the study is to identify the motives of Chinese students to study at Russian universities in the conditions of the formation of the post-global education space. Materials and methods of research. In March-May 2022, we conducted a sociological study in the universities of Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, and Moscow (Russian Federation). The study used a quantitative and qualitative strategy. The quantitative study involved 500 Chinese students studying at Russian universities (N=500). The study was supplemented by in-depth interviews (N=30) with heads of international services and university departments. Results. In the course of the study, the main key motives for the choice of Russian universities by Chinese students were found. Among them, pragmatic motives that consist of a group (the cost of education; the territorial convenience of the location of the university; the convenience of accommodation in hostels; the availability of airports in the host city); socio-psychological motives (national relations, the presence of acquaintances of students from the PRC studying at the chosen university, the availability of adaptation programs for Chinese students at the university, the convenience of the university infrastructure), procedural (to make a career progress after graduation; the opportunity to continue education after graduation from the Russian university; the prestige of the university in world rankings) were fixed. Conclusions. The leading factors influencing the motives of Chinese students' choice of Russian universities are as follows: the success of adaptation programs at the university, the compliance of the educational program with the expectations of students, the presence of the Confucius Institute, which supports the relationship with Chinese students and teachers. Demotivating factors were identified in the course of the study. They are: difficulty in mastering the Russian language (76%), difficulty in communication with teaching staff (54%), difficulties in communicating with Russian students (46%). © 2023 LLC Ecological Help. Efficacy of search for the unrelated compatible transplant donors depends on a number of factors. Of most importance are the standards of primary HLA typing, and the immunogenetic diversity of the donor pool. Timely donor selection guarantees the optimal timing for stem cell transplantation. This factor exerts positive influence upon the transplantation outcomes. In 2019, The Bone Marrow Donors Registry at the Russian Research Institute of Haematology and Transfusiology has implemented HLA-typing for HLA-A, HLA-B, HLA-C, HLA-DRB1, HLA-DQB1 genes as a standard for primary immunogenetic examination, in order to reduce the donor search period. The aim of our study was to evaluate the HLA typing results for potential stem cell donors at our Registry as compared with immunogenetic profile of donors at the Registries arranged in two Russian megapolises. All currently known groups of HLA-C, HLA-DRB1, HLA-DQB1 gene alleles, 19 of 21 open groups of HLA-A gene alleles, 34 of 36 known groups of HLA-B gene alleles were screened in the donors from our Registry. The most common HLA alleles groups were as follows: A*02 (0.2957), A*03 (0.1432), A*01 (0.1155), A*24 (0.1128); B*07 (0.1282), B*35 (0.1084), B*44 (0.0921), B*18 (0.0745); C*07 (0.2738), C*04 (0.1361), C*12 (0.1202), C*03 (0.1134), C*06 (0.1127); DRB1*15 (0.1445), DRB1*07 (0.1420), DRB1*13 (0.1271), DRB1*01 (0.1269), DRB1*11 (0.1216); DQB1*03 (0.3517), DQB1*06 (0.2269). A total of 1702 HLA-A*-B*-C*-DRB1*-DQB1*-haplotypes were revealed in our donor pool. The frequency of nine HLA-haplotypes exceeded 0.01: A*01-B*08-C*07-DRB1*03-DQB1*02 (0.0366), A*03-B*07-C*07-DRB1*15-DQB1*06 (0.0269), A*03-B*35-C*04-DRB1*01-DQB1*05 (0.0238), A*02-B*13-C*06-DRB1*07-DQB1*02 (0.0204), A*02-B*07-C*07-DRB1*15-DQB1*06 (0.0184), A*25-B*18-C*12-DRB1*15-DQB1*06 (0.0127), A*02-B*18-C*07-DRB1*11-DQB1*03 (0.0126), A*02-B*15-C*03-DRB1*04-DQB1*03 (0.0123), A*02-B*41-C*17-DRB1*13-DQB1*03 (0.0109). We carried out a comparative analysis of the HLA-haplotypes distribution for the donors of three Russian registers: Russian Research Institute of Haematology and Transfusiology (St. Petersburg); First St. Petersburg State I. Pavlov Medical University (St. Petersburg); National Medical Research Center for Hematology (Moscow). The six most common HLA-haplotypes among the donors from three Russian registers had the same rank positions and frequencies. The differences of some less common HLA-haplotypes distribution were determined. The results of our study indicate the immunogenetic diversity of the donor pool the Registry of Russian Research Institute of Haematology and Transfusiology. This fact, along with usage of international standards for primary immunogenetic examination is a prerequisite for effective donor search for the patients requiring stem cell transplantation

Aim. To evaluate the efficacy of Artneo (AN) in comparison with a combination of glucosamine hydrochloride and chondroitin sulfate (GC) in patients with osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee joint (KJ). Materials and methods. 70 patients with stages I–III of primary knee OA were randomized into 2 groups. Participants in the 1st (n=35) took AN 1 caps/day, in the 2nd (n=35) GC according to the standard regimen. After 7, 30, 90, 180 days, the Lequesne index (severity of OA), pain when moving according to VAS, WOMAC score were assessed, after 1, 3, 6 months – quality of life SF-36 and morning stiffness, after 6 months – MRI with T2 mapping, laboratory safety indicators. Results. Over the course of 6 months of use, an improvement in the WOMAC index and a decrease in pain were observed without intergroup differences, and a greater decrease in stiffness in the AN group. After 3 months, the severity of OA decreased from moderate to mild in the AN group and was significantly lower compared to the GC group; quality of life (physical component of SF-36) was higher in the AN group. After 6 months, there was an improvement in cartilage ultrastructure (T2 relaxation time) in both groups and a more pronounced reduction of the synovitis area (MRI) in the AN group (2.95 and 1.37 times in the AN and GC group, respectively). There were no clinically significant adverse reactions observed in both groups. Conclusion. The use of AN in patients with stage I–III primary knee OA was not inferior in efficacy to the combination of GC. Further studies with greater statistical power (sample size) and follow-up period are warranted including in real clinical practice

Faraday rotation spectra of bismuth-substituted ferrite garnet films with in-plane magnetization

Single crystalline films of bismuth-substituted ferrite garnets have been synthesized by the liquid phase epitaxy method where GGG substrates are dipped into the flux. The growth parameters are controlled to obtain films with in-plane magnetization and virtually no domain activity, which makes them excellently suited for magnetooptic imaging. The Faraday rotation spectra were measured across the visible range of wavelengths. To interprete the spectra we present a simple model based on the existence of two optical transitions of diamagnetic character, one tetrahedral and one octahedral. We find excellent agreement between the model and our experimental results for photon energies between 1.77 and 2.53 eV, corresponding to wavelengths between 700 and 490 nm. It is shown that the Faraday rotation changes significantly with the amount of substituted gallium and bismuth. Furthermore, the experimental results suggest that the magnetooptic response changes linearly with the bismuth substitution.Comment: 15 pages, 6 figures, published in Phys. Rev.
