    S5 0716+714 : GeV variability study

The GeV observations by Fermi-LAT give us the opportunity to characterize the high-energy emission (100 MeV - 300 GeV) variability properties of the BL Lac object S5 0716+714. In this study, we performed flux and spectral analysis of more than 3 year long (August 2008 to April 2012) Fermi-LAT data of the source. During this period, the source exhibits two different modes of flux variability with characteristic timescales of ~75 and ~140 days, respectively. We also notice that the flux variations are characterized by a weak spectral hardening. The GeV spectrum of the source shows a clear deviation from a simple power law, and is better explained by a broken power law. Similar to other bright Fermi blazars, the break energy does not vary with the source flux during the different activity states. We discuss several possible scenarios to explain the observed spectral break.Comment: 21 pages, 10 figures, Accepted for publication in Advances in Space Research journa

Background: Ischemic heart diseaseis the most common cardiovascular disease in developed countries such as United States and Angina pectoris is the most frequent among them. If not managed adequately angina results in significant morbidity and mortality too due to the complications. Antianginal therapy is lifelong. Therefore, analysis of the price of drugs used in ischemic heart disease will help to improve patient compliance. Methods: Prices of various antianginal drugs of different strengths and combinations marketed by different companies was obtained from current index of medical stores. The variation between highest and lowest price of the same medication manufactured by various pharma companies and percentage variation in price for ten tablets was calculated. Results: In India, percentage variation in price for antianginal drugs was found to be: tablet isosorbide dinitrate (5 mg) 250%, glyceryltrinitrate (6.4 mg) 24.44%. In calcium channel blockers group, tablet amlodipine 10 mg shows maximum price variation of 1045%, closely followed by 5 mg of amlodipine with a variation of 1040%, while 120 mg of diltiazem shows the least variation of 262%. In beta-adrenergic receptor blockers group, tablet atenolol 50 mg shows maximum price variation of 563%, whereas 100 mg of extended release metoprolol shows the least variation of 42%.Conclusions: To increase the benefit to the patient and reduce drug in compliance, doctors should be trained to be familiar from internship period itself about the brand names of cost-effective drugs with good safety profile for a long period

Background: Maternal mortality in India is decreasing with the advances in health care facilities, increase in the number of hospital deliveries, improvement in the transport facilities etc. Present study aimed at to evaluate the causes for antepartum stillbirths. Methods: It is a retrospective study from the case records of the stillbirths that occurred from June 2015 to March 2018. All stillbirths between 28-41 weeks were studies. Stillbirths occurring in twin pregnancies were excluded. The total number of stillbirths that were studied was 102. Results: Most of the IUDs occurred between 28-37 weeks 82 (80.39%). The mean period of gestation at which the stillbirth occurred was 33.84±3.8 weeks. There was more number of male stillborns as compared to female stillborns. When the weight distribution of all stillbirths was compared with weight for gestational age 48 (47.5%) were <10% (SGA) and 46 (45.09%) of stillbirths weighed between 10th and 50th percentile Most of the IUDs were caused due to cord accidents, abruption and as a complication of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. Conclusions: Stillbirths were higher in IUGR fetusus as compared to AGA fetuses. Hence in order to prevent stillbirth it would be mandatory to detect IUGR at an earlier stage and delivery should be planned if the fetus shows any features of compromise. Doppler studies can help in deciding the timing of delivery
