<i>Streptocephalus sirindhornae</i>, new species of freshwater fairy shrimp (Anostraca) from Thailand
Streptocephalus sirindhornae, new species, the first freshwater anostracan from Thailand, is wide-spread in the northeast of the country. It is morphologically closest to the Indian species S. dichotomus, but a sequence analysis of its SSU rDNA gene reveals that its closest relative is in fact the Indian species-pair S. dichotomus-S. simplex, that it is probably a conserved member of the S. dichotomus-group, and that it shares some relationship with the S. torvicornis-group
EVALUATION OF A METHOD FOR DETECTION OF BOTH METALLO BETALACTAMASE (MBL) AND EFFLUX PRODUCTION USING CARBONYL CYANIDE 3-CHLOROPHENYLHYDRAZONE (CCCP)±COMBINATION METHOD AMONG PSEUDOMONAS AERUGINOSA ISOLATED FROM CLINICAL SPECIMENS
Objective: To standardize a method for the differential detection of Metallo Betalactamase (MBL) production and efflux pump mechanism using Carbonyl Cyanide 3-ChloroPhenylhydrazone (CCCP) among the clinical isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa recovered from ocular specimens. Methods: A total of 110 clinical isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa were plated onto Muller-Hinton agar (MHA) plate with CCCP and without CCCP. Carbapenems-Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) combination disk method was performed on CCCP± plates for individual isolates and the results were compared. Results: Out of 110 clinical isolates of P aeruginosa studied, 11(10%) were tested positive for MBL Production by carbapenem-EDTA combination test/CCCP-test. In which, six isolates showed positive for both efflux and MBL production using CCCP+plate and 5 isolates showed positive only for MBL production. Conclusion: The current study standardized a method for detecting both MBL and efflux mechanism in a single plate consists of CCCP± plate containing antibiotic disk with and without EDTA. Implication of this method in routine diagnostics will help the clinicians to treat the patient with appropriate drug choice and dosage.Â
New BPS Solitons in 2+1 Dimensional Noncommutative CP^1 Model
Investigating the solitons in the non-commutative model, we have
found a new set of BPS solitons which does not have counterparts in the
commutative model.Comment: 8 pages, LaTeX2e, references added, improvements to discussions,

Lost equivalence of nonlinear sigma and models on noncommutative space
We show that the equivalence of nonlinear sigma and models which is
valid on the commutative space is broken on the noncommutative space. This
conclusion is arrived at through investigation of new BPS solitons that do not
exist in the commutative limit.Comment: 17 pages, LaTeX2
Ultrasonic technology applied against mosquito larvae
The effective management of mosquito vectors is a timely challenge for medical and veterinary entomology. In this study, we evaluated the acoustic Larvasonic device to control young instars of the mosquito Aedes aegypti in diverse freshwater environments. Under laboratory conditions, we investigated the effect of exposure time and distance from the transducer on the mortality of larvae and pupae of Ae. aegypti. Furthermore, we evaluated the effectiveness of the ultrasound window of the electromagnetic spectrum under different field conditions. Results showed that first and second instar larvae were more sensitive to the frequency range of 18-30 kHz of the Larvasonic device. Ultrasonic waves applied for 180 s at a frequency from 18 to 30 kHz caused 100% larval mortality at a distance of 60 cm from the transducer. No mortality was observed in the non-target copepod Megacyclops formosanus. The exposure to the soundwaves produced by the acoustic larvicidal device over different distances effectively damaged Ae. aegypti through destruction of the larval dorsal tracheal trunk, thorax and abdomen. Overall, results indicated that the Larvasonic device tested can provide an alternative tool to reduce young instar populations of Ae. aegypti, without any effects on non-target aquatic invertebrates like copepods. It turned out to be a useful device for mosquito biocontrol. This technology has a relevant potential to fight the spread of mosquito-borne diseases
Comments on Noncommutative Sigma Models
We review the derivation of a noncommutative version of the nonlinear sigma
model on \CPn and it's soliton solutions for finite emphasizing the
similarities it bears to the GMS scalar field theory. It is also shown that
unlike the scalar theory, some care needs to be taken in defining the
topological charge of BPS solitons of the theory due to nonvanishing surface
terms in the energy functional. Finally it is shown that, like its commutative
analogue, the noncommutative \CPn-model also exhibits a non-BPS sector.
Unlike the commutative case however, there are some surprises in the
noncommutative case that merit further study.Comment: 22 pages, 4 figures, LaTeX (JHEP3), Minor changes, Discussion

Cloud Based Vehicle Parking System for Anonymous Place Using Internet of Things
The intention of our project is to create a smart parking system for smart cities and malls to find a parking space that is well suited to their respective aspects. That is, it can help in finding either the nearest spot or the best one. Thus the algorithm increases the efficiency of the cloud based system and hence develops a network architecture based on internet of things. We have also successfully implemented the proposed system in the real world
Vortex Strings and Four-Dimensional Gauge Dynamics
We study the low-energy quantum dynamics of vortex strings in the Higgs phase
of N=2 supersymmetric QCD. The exact BPS spectrum of the stretched string is
shown to coincide with the BPS spectrum of the four-dimensional parent gauge
theory. Perturbative string excitations correspond to bound W-bosons and quarks
while the monopoles appear as kinks on the vortex string. This provides a
physical explanation for an observation by N. Dorey relating the quantum
spectra of theories in two and four dimensions.Comment: 23 pages, 1 figure. v2: Two extra appendices included: one on the
brane construction, the other describing the potential on the vortex moduli

Non-Abelian BIonic Brane Intersections
We study "fuzzy funnel" solutions to the non-Abelian equations of motion of
the D-string. Our funnel describes n^6/360 coincident D-strings ending on n^3/6
D7-branes, in terms of a fuzzy six-sphere which expands along the string. We
also provide a dual description of this configuration in terms of the world
volume theory of the D7-branes. Our work makes use of an interesting non-linear
higher dimensional generalization of the instanton equations.Comment: 17 pages uses harvmac; v2: small typos corrected, refs adde
Chern-Simons Solitons, Chiral Model, and (affine) Toda Model on Noncommutative Space
We consider the Dunne-Jackiw-Pi-Trugenberger model of a U(N) Chern-Simons
gauge theory coupled to a nonrelativistic complex adjoint matter on
noncommutative space. Soliton configurations of this model are related the
solutions of the chiral model on noncommutative plane. A generalized
Uhlenbeck's uniton method for the chiral model on noncommutative space provides
explicit Chern-Simons solitons. Fundamental solitons in the U(1) gauge theory
are shaped as rings of charge `n' and spin `n' where the Chern-Simons level `n'
should be an integer upon quantization. Toda and Liouville models are
generalized to noncommutative plane and the solutions are provided by the
uniton method. We also define affine Toda and sine-Gordon models on
noncommutative plane. Finally the first order moduli space dynamics of
Chern-Simons solitons is shown to be trivial.Comment: latex, JHEP style, 23 pages, no figur
