Quantum dense coding in multiparticle entangled states via local measurements
In this paper, we study quantum dense coding between two arbitrarily fixed
particles in a (N+2)-particle maximally-entangled states through introducing an
auxiliary qubit and carrying out local measurements. It is shown that the
transmitted classical information amount through such an entangled quantum
channel usually is less than two classical bits. However, the information
amount may reach two classical bits of information, and the classical
information capacity is independent of the number of the entangled particles in
the initial entangled state under certain conditions. The results offer deeper
insights to quantum dense coding via quantum channels of multi-particle

Multiparty Quantum Secret Report
A multiparty quantum secret report scheme is proposed with quantum
encryption. The boss Alice and her agents first share a sequence of
(+1)-particle Greenberger--Horne--Zeilinger (GHZ) states that only Alice
knows which state each (+1)-particle quantum system is in. Each agent
exploits a controlled-not (CNot) gate to encrypt the travelling particle by
using the particle in the GHZ state as the control qubit. The boss Alice
decrypts the travelling particle with a CNot gate after performing a
operation on her particle in the GHZ state or not. After the GHZ states (the
quantum key) are used up, the parties check whether there is a vicious
eavesdropper, say Eve, monitoring the quantum line, by picking out some samples
from the GHZ states shared and measure them with two measuring bases. After
confirming the security of the quantum key, they use the GHZ states remained
repeatedly for next round of quantum communication. This scheme has the
advantage of high intrinsic efficiency for qubits and the total efficiency.Comment: 4 pages, no figure
Trust as a mediator in the relationship between childhood sexual abuse and IL-6 level in adulthood
Childhood sexual abuse (CSA) has been shown to predict the coupling of depression and inflammation in adulthood. Trust within intimate relationships, a core element in marital relations, has been shown to predict positive physical and mental health outcomes, but the mediating role of trust in partners in the association between CSA and inflammation in adulthood requires further study. The present study aimed to examine the impact of CSA on inflammatory biomarkers (IL-6 and IL-1β) in adults with depression and the mediating role of trust. A cross-sectional survey data set of adults presenting with mood and sleep disturbance was used in the analysis. CSA demonstrated a significant negative correlation with IL-6 level (r = -0.28, p<0. 01) in adults with clinically significant depression, while trust showed a significant positive correlation with IL-6 level (r = 0.36, p < .01). Sobel test and bootstrapping revealed a significant mediating role for trust between CSA and IL-6 level. CSA and trust in partners were revealed to have significant associations with IL-6 level in adulthood. Counterintuitively, the directions of association were not those expected. Trust played a mediating role between CSA and adulthood levels of IL-6. Plausible explanations for these counterintuitive findings are discussed
Robust nodal superconductivity induced by isovalent doping in Ba(FeRu)As and BaFe(AsP)
We present the ultra-low-temperature heat transport study of iron-based
superconductors Ba(FeRu)As and
BaFe(AsP). For optimally doped
Ba(FeRu)As, a large residual linear term
at zero field and a dependence of are observed,
which provide strong evidences for nodes in the superconducting gap. This
result demonstrates that the isovalent Ru doping can also induce nodal
superconductivity, as P does in BaFe(AsP).
Furthermore, in underdoped Ba(FeRu)As and heavily
underdoped BaFe(AsP), manifests similar
nodal behavior, which shows the robustness of nodal superconductivity in the

Treatment with Methylphenidate for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and the Risk of All-Cause Poisoning in Children and Adolescents:A Self-Controlled Case Series Study
BACKGROUND: Children and adolescents with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are at higher risk of all-cause poisoning by drugs and chemicals (intentional or accidental). Currently, there is limited data on whether medication treatment for ADHD can reduce the risk of all-cause poisoning. METHODS: Patients aged 5–18 years with a methylphenidate (MPH) prescription and an incident poisoning diagnosis between January 2001 and June 2020 were identified from the Hong Kong Clinical Data Analysis and Reporting System. A self-controlled case series study design was used to compare the incidence rate ratios (IRRs) of all-cause poisoning during different risk windows (30 days before the first MPH prescription, exposure periods within 30 days of the first prescription, and periods of subsequent exposure) compared with the reference window (other non-exposure periods). RESULTS: 42,203 patients were prescribed ADHD medication in Hong Kong during the study period. Of these, 417 patients who had both an MPH prescription and poisoning incident recorded were included in the main analysis. Compared with other non-exposed periods, a higher risk of poisoning was found in the 30 days before the first prescription (IRR 2.64, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.33–5.22) and exposure periods within 30 days of the first prescription (IRR 2.18, 95% CI 1.06–4.48), but not during prolonged exposure. However, compared with 30 days before the first prescription as well as exposure periods within 30 days of the first prescription, there was a lower risk during the subsequent exposure (IRRs 0.49 and 0.60, respectively). Similar results to the main analysis were also found in the subgroup analysis of intentional poisoning and females, but not in that of accidental poisoning and males. CONCLUSIONS: The risk of all-cause poisoning was higher shortly before and after the first MPH prescription and became lower during the subsequent prescription period. Our results do not support an association between the use of MPH and an increased risk of all-cause poisoning in children and adolescents and, in fact, suggest that longer-term use of MPH may be associated with a lower risk of all-cause poisoning, although this latter finding requires further study. Modeling and Experimental Verification of an Electromagnetic and Piezoelectric Hybrid Energy Harvester
This paper describes mathematical models of an electromagnetic and piezoelectric hybrid energy harvesting system and provides an analysis of the relationship between the resonance frequency and the configuration parameters of the system. An electromagnetic and piezoelectric energy harvesting device was designed and the experimental results showed good agreement with the analytical results. The maximum load power of the hybrid energy harvesting system achieved 4.25 mW at a resonant frequency of 18 Hz when the acceleration was 0.7 g, which is an increase of 15% compared with the 3.62 mW achieved by a single electromagnetic technique
Gastrointestinal bleeding risk with rivaroxaban vs aspirin in atrial fibrillation: a multinational study
Purpose:
Comparative gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB) risk between rivaroxaban and low‐dose aspirin is unknown in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). This study investigated GIB risk with rivaroxaban vs aspirin among two separate AF cohorts in Hong Kong and the United Kingdom, using a common protocol approach.
Methods:
This was a population‐based cohort study using separate data from the Clinical Data Analysis and Reporting System (CDARS) of the Hong Kong Hospital Authority (2010‐2018) and The Health Improvement Network (THIN) database in the United Kingdom (2011‐2017). Patients with AF newly prescribed aspirin or rivaroxaban were included. Cox proportional hazards regression was used to compare GIB risks for rivaroxaban vs aspirin, accounting for confounders using propensity score fine stratification approach.
Results:
In CDARS, 29 213 patients were included; n = 1052 (rivaroxaban), n = 28 161 (aspirin). Crude GIB event rates per 100 patient‐years in CDARS were 3.0 (aspirin) and 2.6 (rivaroxaban). No difference in GIB risk was observed between rivaroxaban and aspirin overall (HR = 1.04, 95%CI = 0.76‐1.42), and in dose‐stratified analyses (HR = 1.21, 95%CI = 0.84‐1.74 [20 mg/day]; HR = 0.80, 95%CI = 0.44‐1.45 [≤15 mg/day]). In THIN, 11 549 patients were included, n = 3496 (rivaroxaban) and n = 8053 (aspirin). Crude GIB event rates were 1.3 (aspirin) and 2.4 (rivaroxaban) per 100 patient‐years. No difference in GIB risk was observed between rivaroxaban and aspirin overall (HR = 1.40, 95%CI = 1.00‐1.98) and low‐dose rivaroxaban (≤15 mg/day) (HR = 1.00, 95%CI = 0.56‐1.30), but increased GIB risk was observed for rivaroxaban 20 mg/day vs aspirin (HR = 1.57, 95%CI = 1.08‐2.29).
Conclusion:
In patients with AF, GIB risk was comparable between aspirin and rivaroxaban ≤15 mg/day. GIB risk for rivaroxaban 20 mg/day vs aspirin remains uncertain and warrants further investigation

EDN1 Lys198Asn is Associated with Diabetic Retinopathy in Type 2 Diabetes
Purpose: We tested the hypothesis that genetic variants in vasoactive and angiogenic factors regulating the retina vasculature contribute to the development of diabetic retinopathy (DR). Methods: A case-control study was performed to study the genetic association between DR and polymorphic variants of EDN1 (Lys198Asn), LTA (IVS1–80C>A, IVS1–206G>C, IVS1–252>G), eNOS (Glu298Asp), and ITGA2 (BgI II) in a Chinese population with type 2 diabetes mellitus. A well defined population with type 2 diabetes, consisting of 127 controls and 216 DR patients, was recruited. Results: A higher frequency of the Asn/Asn genotype of EDN1 was found in individuals with at least 10 years of diabetes and no retinopathy (controls) compared with DR patients with any duration of diabetes (DR: 2.3%; control: 11.0%; p=0.0002). The Asn allele was also more frequent in controls than DR patients (DR: 16.4%; control: 29.5%; p=0.007). Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that the Asn/Asn genotype was the factor most significantly associated with reduced risk of DR (odds ratio=0.19; 95% CI: 0.07-0.53; p=0.002) and with late onset of diabetes (Asn/Asn: 59 years; Lys/Lys + Lys/Asn: 53 years; p=0.02). Moreover, the Lys/Lys genotype was more common among patients with nonproliferative (75.7%) than proliferative DR (56.9%; p=0.008). The distributions of Lys198Asn alleles in hypertension did not differ from normotensive subjects. No associations between DR and polymorphisms of LTA, eNOS, or ITGA2 were detected, and there were no detectable gene-gene or gene-environmental interactions among the polymorphisms.Conclusions The Asn/Asn genotype of EDN1 was associated with a reduced risk of DR and with delayed onset of type 2 diabetes
Efficient electronic entanglement concentration assisted with single mobile electron
We present an efficient entanglement concentration protocol (ECP) for mobile
electrons with charge detection. This protocol is quite different from other
ECPs for one can obtain a maximally entangled pair from a pair of
less-entangled state and a single mobile electron with a certain probability.
With the help of charge detection, it can be repeated to reach a higher success
probability. It also does not need to know the coefficient of the original
less-entangled states. All these advantages may make this protocol useful in
