Aharonov-Anandan phase in Lipkin-Meskov-Glick model
In the system of several interacting spins, geometric phases have been
researched intensively.However, the studies are mainly focused on the adiabatic
case (Berry phase), so it is necessary for us to study the non-adiabatic
counterpart (Aharonov and Anandan phase). In this paper, we analyze both the
non-degenerate and degenerate geometric phase of Lipkin-Meskov-Glick type
model, which has many application in Bose-Einstein condensates and entanglement
theory. Furthermore, in order to calculate degenerate geometric phases, the
Floquet theorem and decomposition of operator are generalized. And the general
formula is achieved
Lifetime Measurements in 120Xe
Lifetimes for the lowest three transitions in the nucleus Xe have
been measured using the Recoil Distance Technique. Our data indicate that the
lifetime for the transition is more than a factor of
two lower than the previously adopted value and is in keeping with more recent
measurements performed on this nucleus. The theoretical implications of this
discrepancy and the possible reason for the erroneous earlier results are
discussed. All measured lifetimes in Xe, as well as the systematics of
the lifetimes of the 2 states in Xe isotopes, are compared with
predictions of various models. The available data are best described by the

(Z)3,4,5,4'-trans-tetramethoxystilbene, a new analogue of resveratrol, inhibits gefitinb-resistant non-small cell lung cancer via selectively elevating intracellular calcium level.
Calcium is a second messenger which is required for regulation of many cellular processes. However, excessive elevation or prolonged activation of calcium signaling would lead to cell death. As such, selectively regulating calcium signaling could be an alternative approach for anti-cancer therapy. Recently, we have identified an effective analogue of resveratrol, (Z)3,4,5,4′-trans-tetramethoxystilbene (TMS) which selectively elevated the intracellular calcium level in gefitinib-resistant (G-R) non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells. TMS exhibited significant inhibitory effect on G-R NSCLC cells, but not other NSCLC cells and normal lung epithelial cells. The phosphorylation and activation of EGFR were inhibited by TMS in G-R cells. TMS induced caspase-independent apoptosis and autophagy by directly binding to SERCA and causing endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and AMPK activation. Proteomics analysis also further confirmed that mTOR pathway, which is the downstream of AMPK, was significantly suppressed by TMS. JNK, the cross-linker of ER stress and mTOR pathway was significantly activated by TMS. In addition, the inhibition of JNK activation can partially block the effect of TMS. Taken together, TMS showed promising anti-cancer activity by mediating calcium signaling pathway and inducing apoptosis as well as autophagy in G-R NSCLC cells, providing strategy in designing multi-targeting drug for treating G-R patients
The US stock market leads the Federal funds rate and Treasury bond yields
Using a recently introduced method to quantify the time varying lead-lag
dependencies between pairs of economic time series (the thermal optimal path
method), we test two fundamental tenets of the theory of fixed income: (i) the
stock market variations and the yield changes should be anti-correlated; (ii)
the change in central bank rates, as a proxy of the monetary policy of the
central bank, should be a predictor of the future stock market direction. Using
both monthly and weekly data, we found very similar lead-lag dependence between
the S&P500 stock market index and the yields of bonds inside two groups: bond
yields of short-term maturities (Federal funds rate (FFR), 3M, 6M, 1Y, 2Y, and
3Y) and bond yields of long-term maturities (5Y, 7Y, 10Y, and 20Y). In all
cases, we observe the opposite of (i) and (ii). First, the stock market and
yields move in the same direction. Second, the stock market leads the yields,
including and especially the FFR. Moreover, we find that the short-term yields
in the first group lead the long-term yields in the second group before the
financial crisis that started mid-2007 and the inverse relationship holds
afterwards. These results suggest that the Federal Reserve is increasingly
mindful of the stock market behavior, seen at key to the recovery and health of
the economy. Long-term investors seem also to have been more reactive and
mindful of the signals provided by the financial stock markets than the Federal
Reserve itself after the start of the financial crisis. The lead of the S&P500
stock market index over the bond yields of all maturities is confirmed by the

Retargeted adenoviruses for radiation-guided gene delivery
The combination of radiation with radiosensitizing gene delivery or oncolytic viruses promises to provide an advantage that could improve the therapeutic results for glioblastoma. X-rays can induce significant molecular changes in cancer cells. We isolated the GIRLRG peptide that binds to radiation-inducible 78 kDa glucose-regulated protein (GRP78), which is overexpressed on the plasma membranes of irradiated cancer cells and tumor-associated microvascular endothelial cells. The goal of our study was to improve tumor-specific adenovirus-mediated gene delivery by selectively targeting the adenovirus binding to this radiation-inducible protein. We employed an adenoviral fiber replacement approach to conduct a study of the targeting utility of GRP78-binding peptide. We have developed fiber-modified adenoviruses encoding the GRP78-binding peptide inserted into the fiber-fibritin. We have evaluated the reporter gene expression of fiber-modified adenoviruses in vitro using a panel of glioma cells and a human D54MG tumor xenograft model. The obtained results demonstrated that employment of the GRP78-binding peptide resulted in increased gene expression in irradiated tumors following infection with fiber-modified adenoviruses, compared with untreated tumor cells. These studies demonstrate the feasibility of adenoviral retargeting using the GRP78-binding peptide that selectively recognizes tumor cells responding to radiation treatment
Understanding the dynamics of Toll-like Receptor 5 response to flagellin and its regulation by estradiol
© 2017 The Author(s). Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are major players of the innate immune system. Once activated, they trigger a signalling cascade that leads to NF-ΰ B translocation from the cytoplasm to the nucleus. Single cell analysis shows that NF-ΰ B signalling dynamics are a critical determinant of transcriptional regulation. Moreover, the outcome of innate immune response is also affected by the cross-talk between TLRs and estrogen signalling. Here, we characterized the dynamics of TLR5 signalling, responsible for the recognition of flagellated bacteria, and those changes induced by estradiol in its signalling at the single cell level. TLR5 activation in MCF7 cells induced a single and sustained NF-k B translocation into the nucleus that resulted in high NF-k B transcription activity. The overall magnitude of NF-k B transcription activity was not influenced by the duration of the stimulus. No significant changes are observed in the dynamics of NF-k B translocation to the nucleus when MCF7 cells are incubated with estradiol. However, estradiol significantly decreased NF-k B transcriptional activity while increasing TLR5-mediated AP-1 transcription. The effect of estradiol on transcriptional activity was dependent on the estrogen receptor activated. This fine tuning seems to occur mainly in the nucleus at the transcription level rather than affecting the translocation of the NF-k B transcription factor
The fermion dynamical symmetry model for the even--even and even--odd nuclei in the Xe--Ba region
The even--even and even--odd nuclei Xe-Xe and
Ba-Ba are shown to have a well-realized fermion dynamical symmetry. Their low-lying energy levels can be
described by a unified analytical expression with two (three) adjustable
parameters for even--odd (even--even) nuclei that is derived from the fermion
dynamical symmetry model. Analytical expressions are given for wavefunctions
and for transition rates that agree well with data. The distinction
between the FDSM and IBM limits is discussed. The experimentally
observed suppression of the the energy levels with increasing quantum
number can be explained as a perturbation of the pairing interaction on

Trace the Accretion Geometry of H 1743--322 with Type C Quasi-periodic Oscillations in Multiple Outbursts
We present a systematic analysis of type C quasi-periodic oscillation (QPO)
observations of H 1743--322 throughout the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE)
era. We find that, while different outbursts have significant flux differences,
they show consistent positive correlations between the QPO fractional
root-mean-square (rms) amplitude and non-thermal fraction of the emission,
which indicate an independence of the intrinsic QPO rms on individual outburst
brightness in H 1743--322. However, the dependence of the QPO rms on frequency
is different between the outburst rise and decay phases, where QPO fractional
rms of the decay phase is significantly lower than that of the rise phase at
low frequencies. The spectral analysis also reveals different ranges of coronal
temperature between the two outburst stages. A semi-quantitative analysis shows
that the Lense-Thirring precession model could be responsible for the QPO rms
differences, requiring a variable coronal geometric shape. However, the
variable-Comptonization model could also account for the findings. The fact
that the rms differences and the hysteresis traces in the hardness-intensity
diagram (HID) accompany each other indicates a connection between the two
phenomena. By correlating the findings with QPO phase lags and the
quasi-simultaneous radio flux previously published, we propose there could be
corona-jet transitions in H 1743--322 similar to those that have been recently
reported in GRS 1915+105.Comment: 21 pages, 12 figure
Electric charge quantization and the muon anomalous magnetic moment
We investigate some proposals to solve the electric charge quantization
puzzle, which simultaneously explain the recent measured deviation on the muon
anomalous magnetic moment. For this we assess extensions of the Electro-Weak
Standard Model spanning modifications on the scalar sector only. It is
interesting to verify that one can have modest extensions which easily account
