    Valoración de la relación entre Rendimiento Académico y Condición Física en escolares zaragozanos

    Introduction: The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between fitness and academic achievement based on variables such as gender, course and nationality.Methods: 338 students were analyzed. Academic achievement was based on academic average, scores and average on mathematics and language and academic suspension. Fitness was evaluated with the EUROFIT Battery. The level of statistical significance was p<0.05.Results: Significant results were observed in the total sample between fitness and academic performance (p<.01). Flexibility test was significantly associated with academic achievement (all academic variables p <.01), In terms of gender, significant relationships appear in both. Depending on the course, significant relationships exist in the first courses. In terms of origin, native students present significant association but this association is punctual in foreign students.Conclusions: This study shows a significant relationship between fitness and academic performance, depending on items and different characteristics presents in the study.Introducción: El estudio analiza las asociaciones entre la condición física y el rendimiento académico, atendiendo al género, curso y origen del alumnado.Material y métodos: Fueron analizados 338 alumnos. El rendimiento escolar se basó en la nota media académica general, las notas de matemáticas y lengua, la media de estas dos materias y las asignaturas suspendidas. La Condición Física (CF) fue evaluada por la Batería EUROFIT. El tratamiento estadístico, situó la significación bilateral en .05.Resultados: Aparece significación entre la CF y todas las variables académicas (p<.01). La prueba con mayor significación es la flexibilidad (todas las variables académicas p<.01). Atendiendo al género, aparece en ambos y, basándonos en el curso, existe en los primeros cursos analizados. Respecto al origen, los alumnos españoles presentan significación siendo puntual en los alumnos inmigrantes. Conclusiones: Se concluye la existencia de una relación entre la CF y el rendimiento escolar, variando en función de las pruebas y los elementos diferenciadores analizados

    Estudio relacional de la práctica deportiva en escolares según el género

    Insomuch as physical activity has taken a center stage as a way to prevent sedentary lifestyles, it is essential to know what are the sports which are played by schoolchildren outside schools. Therefore, this descriptive and cross-sectional research, conducted on a sample of 818 schoolchildren, has as a main objective to establish sport habits according to gender, which has acted as a moderating factor throughout history. The results showed that female schoolchildren practiced mainly individual sports and as a leisurely activity while men preferred collective and federated sports. Moreover, the level of sport practice determined that male students practiced more sports than female students, so in a greater number of weekly days and longer sessions. Therefore, this research demonstrates that the sport, which is played by children, depends on gender, as well as the necessity of matching this practice avoiding stereotypes and sedentary lifestyles.Dado que la actividad física ha tomado protagonismo como medio para evitar estilos de vida sedentarios, resulta imprescindible conocer cuáles son los deportes practicados por los escolares fuera del horario escolar. Este estudio de carácter descriptivo y de corte transversal, realizado sobre 818 escolares, tiene como objetivo principal establecer hábitos de práctica deportiva en función del género, el cual ha actuado como factor modulador a lo largo de la historia. Los resultados determinaron que los escolares de género femenino practicaban principalmente deportes individuales y a modo de hobby, mientras que los varones lo hacían de forma colectica y federada. Asimismo, el nivel de práctica deportiva determinó que ellos practicaban más deportes que ellas, haciéndolo más días semanales y en sesiones de mayor duración. Como conclusión, se demuestran diferencias en el deporte practicado según el género, así como la necesidad de igualar esta práctica evitando estereotipos y estilos de vida sedentarios. 

    L-Arginine Ameliorates Defective Autophagy in GM2 Gangliosidoses by mTOR Modulation.

    AIMS: Tay-Sachs and Sandhoff diseases (GM2 gangliosidosis) are autosomal recessive disorders of lysosomal function that cause progressive neurodegeneration in infants and young children. Impaired hydrolysis catalysed by β-hexosaminidase A (HexA) leads to the accumulation of GM2 ganglioside in neuronal lysosomes. Despite the storage phenotype, the role of autophagy and its regulation by mTOR has yet to be explored in the neuropathogenesis. Accordingly, we investigated the effects on autophagy and lysosomal integrity using skin fibroblasts obtained from patients with Tay-Sachs and Sandhoff diseases. RESULTS: Pathological autophagosomes with impaired autophagic flux, an abnormality confirmed by electron microscopy and biochemical studies revealing the accelerated release of mature cathepsins and HexA into the cytosol, indicating increased lysosomal permeability. GM2 fibroblasts showed diminished mTOR signalling with reduced basal mTOR activity. Accordingly, provision of a positive nutrient signal by L-arginine supplementation partially restored mTOR activity and ameliorated the cytopathological abnormalities. INNOVATION: Our data provide a novel molecular mechanism underlying GM2 gangliosidosis. Impaired autophagy caused by insufficient lysosomal function might represent a new therapeutic target for these diseases. CONCLUSIONS: We contend that the expression of autophagy/lysosome/mTOR-associated molecules may prove useful peripheral biomarkers for facile monitoring of treatment of GM2 gangliosidosis and neurodegenerative disorders that affect the lysosomal function and disrupt autophagy

    Determinants of Reputation at Private Graduate Online Schools

    Reputation is considered an intangible asset that provides a competitive advantage in organizations, although in the field of education, its study and, specifically, its antecedents need further study. The aim of this paper is to analyze the effect of sustainability, innovation, perceived performance, service quality, work environment and good governance on reputation in private graduate online schools. This study is based on quantitative data collected from a survey. The sample consists of 349 students from a private graduate online school. The results obtained through PLS-SEM show that sustainability, service quality and good governance have a positive and significant influence on reputation. However, innovation, perceived performance and governance do not have a positive effect on the reputation of this type of organization. Therefore, more studies covering a greater sampling variety are required to determine the generalizability of these results. This study is a useful contribution since it will help managers of the private graduate online schools to know which aspects generate more reputation and, therefore, are the most valued by the public, so that the organization has a basis for decision-making
