Assessing morphological characteristics of elite Cocoa accessions (Theobroma cacao L.) in Makira Island, Solomon Islands
Characterization in Theobroma cacao L. based on the suggested Australian Center for International Agricultural Research(ACIAR) guidelines is observed to be important to encourage fine quality Cocoa production, and to realize remunerative income. Hence, 40 Cocoa accessions collected from fields distributed under different wards of Makira Island of the Solomon Islands were characterize for nine quantitative and qualitative morphological traits. Among the identified Cocoa accessions,Principal Component Analysis (PCA) grouped all the traits into three major Principal Components (PC) accounted 46.2% of total variation. PC axis one accounted for 23.1% of total variation explained by pod weight, pod circumference, cotyledon length, pod length, cotyledon width, pod external thickness, mature pod ridge color (anthocyanin), pod surface texture, pod surface shape and pod shape. The 12.2% of total variation in PC axis two was considerably attributed by the qualitative traits cotyledon color, pod surface texture , mature pod ridge color (anthocyanin), pod surface shape, cotyledon width, pod shape and tree vigor. While, PC axis three accounted for 10.9% of total variation referred to traits pod neck, pod surface shape, pod surface texture, pod length, tree vigor, pod internal thickness, weight of the bean per pod, pod external thickness, number of beans per pod, pod weight and reaction to black pod. Unweighted Pair Group Mean with Arithmetic Average (UPGMA)classified the 40 accessions in to three clusters. Under Cluster 1, 95.5% of identified accessions were grouped by traits such as cotyledon length and cotyledon width, red pods tree. While, Cluster 2 made up of 5% of total number of accessions with traits least pod weight, least pod external thickness, least cotyledon length and red podded trees. A single accession in Cluster 3 characterized by longest pod and constituted only 2.5% of the total accession. The frequency distribution of the nine qualitative traits confirmed that, 90% of identified accessions exhibited pod surface texture as smooth and slightly rough, 97% with pod surface shape as slightly furrowed with medium furrows and 85% with Amelonado pod shape. Most of the identified Cocoa accessions, grouped into three pod apex shapes traits such as Mammelate, Acute and Obtuse, accounting for 44, 25 and 20%, respectively. Of the total accessions studied, 63% had no anthocyanin on the mature pod ridge. Each of 72% measured as the strength of the accessions to withstand Phytophthora palmivora, and vigorous. The Shannon Weaver Diversity Index characterized and suggested that the Cocoa accessions in Makira Island mainly resemble to Amelonado (bulk) type, usually classified as Forasterio variety
Evaluation Rainfall Regime at the Hydroelectric Power Plant Toward Climate Change
The hydroelectric plants are first in the Brazilian energy matrix, so irregularities in the rainfall regime can affect the energy generation, thus evidencing the need to know the rainfall distribution in the studied area. This work aimed to evaluate possible analysis of the impacts of climate change on the rainfall regime in the Machadinho hydroelectric region. For the research development, the IPCC-AR5 pessimistic scenario was used, representing a scenario with a continuous population growth and high carbon dioxide emissions. From the historical series and organized projections, precipitation anomalies were calculated. Analyzing the difference between the average of the month and the climatological normal, it was inferred that the model used presented a positive trend for precipitation in the period from 2026 - 2100, projecting anomalies between 25 and 200 mm per month. A greater amplitude is observed in the precipitation of 2076-2100, indicating an increase in the occurrence of extreme events of precipitation, mainly in the spring period. Considering that the rains in the Machadinho hydroelectric region are increasing in the scenarios analyzed, the average water level in the reservoir of the plant tends to increase
Layanan Kebidanan Era Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional: Memperkuat Posisi Bidan Praktik Mandiri
Pemenuhan Fasilitas Kesehatan Ibu Melahirkan Era Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional
Menjelang berakhirnya Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) 2015, Indonesia masih menyisakan rapor merah terhadap penurunan target kelima MDGs, yaitu Angka Kematian Ibu (AKI). Pemerintah Indonesia berupaya menekan AKI melalui program Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional (JKN).
Understanding the role of shame and its consequences in female hypersexual behaviours: A pilot study
Background and aims:
Hypersexuality and sexual addiction among females is a little understudied phenomenon. Shame is thought to be intrinsic to hypersexual behaviours, especially in women. Therefore, the aim of this study was to understand both hypersexual behaviours and consequences of hypersexual behaviours and their respective contributions to shame in a British sample of females (n = 102).
Methods:
Data were collected online via Survey Monkey.
Results:
Results showed the Sexual Behaviour History (SBH) and the Hypersexual Disorder Questionnaire (HDQ) had significant positive correlation with scores on the Shame Inventory. The results indicated that hypersexual behaviours (HBI and HDQ) were able to predict a small percentage of the variability in shame once sexual orientation (heterosexual vs. non-heterosexual) and religious beliefs (belief vs. no belief) were controlled for. Results also showed there was no evidence that religious affiliation and/or religious beliefs had an influence on the levels of hypersexuality and consequences of sexual behaviours as predictors of shame.
Conclusions:
While women in the UK are rapidly shifting to a feminist way of thinking with or without technology, hypersexual disorder may often be misdiagnosed and misunderstood because of the lack of understanding and how it is conceptualised. The implications of these findings are discussed
Sleep onset problems and subcortical development in infants later diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder
Objective: Sleep patterns in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) appear to diverge from typical development in the second or third year of life. Little is known, however, about the occurrence of sleep problems in infants who later develop ASD and possible effects on early brain development. In a longitudinal neuroimaging study of infants at familial high or low risk for ASD, parent-reported sleep onset problems were examined in relation to subcortical brain volumes in the first 2 years of life. Methods: A total of 432 infants were included across three study groups: infants at high risk who developed ASD (N=71), infants at high risk who did not develop ASD (N=234), and infants at low risk (N=127). Sleep onset problem scores (derived from an infant temperament measure) were evaluated in relation to longitudinal high-resolution T1 and T2 structural imaging data acquired at 6, 12, and 24 months of age. Results: Sleep onset problems were more common at 6–12 months among infants who later developed ASD. Infant sleep onset problems were related to hippocampal volume trajectories from 6 to 24 months only for infants at high risk who developed ASD. Brain-sleep relationships were specific to the hippocampus; no significant relationships were found with volume trajectories of other subcortical structures examined (the amygdala, caudate, globus pallidus, putamen, and thalamus). Conclusions: These findings provide initial evidence that sleep onset problems in the first year of life precede ASD diagnosis and are associated with altered neurodevelopmental trajectories in infants at high familial risk who go on to develop ASD. If replicated, these findings could provide new insights into a potential role of sleep difficulties in the development of ASD
