L'influence de la phénoménologie wébérienne de Raymond Aron sur la pensée de Francis Fukuyama

Ce mémoire explore la possibilité d'une parenté insoupçonnée entre deux penseurs des Relations Internationales, Raymond Aron et Francis Fukuyama. Traditionnellement associées aux écoles libérale et réaliste, leurs idées pouvaient effectivement apparaître comme parfaitement inconciliables. Or, les deux grandes sections de notre texte essaient plutôt de montrer, qu'en dépit de certaines différences, l'argumentation des deux auteurs se rejoint sur plusieurs questions. En ce qui concerne leurs conceptions de l'histoire, nous verrons qu'Aron et Fukuyama adhéraient au principe de «rationalisation du monde» cher à différents sociologues occidentaux, et particulièrement à Max Weber. L'analyse du parcours universitaire de l'auteur français permettra de repérer des influences phénoménologique ou néokantienne sur le plan épistémologique et wébérienne sur le plan ontologique. Nous nous pencherons également sur le passage de Francis Fukuyama à l'Université Cornell où il fit la connaissance d'Allan Bloom. C'est par l'intermédiaire de ce dernier que l'auteur nippo-américain entra en contact avec Alexandre Kojève, Léo Strauss et Raymond Aron. Une fois ces éclaircissements faits, il sera question du rôle joué par le concept wébérien de rationalisation du monde dans la philosophie fukuyamienne de l'histoire. Par la suite, nous verrons comment ces philosophies de l'histoire déterminent la vision des Relations Internationales des deux auteurs. Plus précisément, nous nous attarderons sur les changements que la société industrielle sont susceptibles d'amener dans les rapports que les États entretiennent entre eux. Tant chez Fukuyama qu'Aron, on pourra constater que les notions de guerre ou de paix se transforment radicalement à partir du Traité de Vienne. Les complémentarités institutionnelles du modèle québécois de développement

Si le fonctionnement de l’économie québécoise poursuit principalement une logique libérale en raison de sa forte intégration continentale, divers facteurs historiques et culturels ont amené l’État du Québec à intervenir plus largement dans l’économie et à promouvoir un partage des fonctions de régulation avec certains groupes constitués de la société civile. À partir de la théorie des complémentarités institutionnelles, la présente étude cherche à alimenter le débat sur l’avenir du modèle québécois de développement. Refusant une approche manichéenne, cette étude repose sur l’hypothèse selon laquelle la performance économique du modèle québécois de développement serait fonction du degré d’intégration entre les institutions du libre marché et les institutions favorisant la redistribution des richesses et la participation citoyenne à la gouverne.The Quebec economy essentially operates within a liberal framework, due to its strong continental integration. However, various historical and cultural factors have led the Province of Quebec to intervene more in its economy and to promote the sharing of regulatory functions with certain civil society groups. Based on the theory of institutional complementarity, this study aims to contribute to the debate on the future of the Quebec development model. Rather than taking a Manichean approach, the study supports the hypothesis that the economic performance of the Quebec development model depends on the degree of integration between the free market institutions and the institutions that promote the redistribution of wealth and citizen participation in governance

BMP-2 functions independently of SHH signaling and triggers cell condensation and apoptosis in regenerating axolotl limbs

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Axolotls have the unique ability, among vertebrates, to perfectly regenerate complex body parts, such as limbs, after amputation. In addition, axolotls pattern developing and regenerating autopods from the anterior to posterior axis instead of posterior to anterior like all tetrapods studied to date. Sonic hedgehog is important in establishing this anterior-posterior axis of limbs in all tetrapods including axolotls. Interestingly, its expression is conserved (to the posterior side of limb buds and blastemas) in axolotl limbs as in other tetrapods. It has been suggested that <it>BMP-2 </it>may be the secondary mediator of sonic hedgehog, although there is mounting evidence to the contrary in mice. Since <it>BMP-2 </it>expression is on the anterior portion of developing and regenerating limbs prior to digit patterning, opposite to the expression of sonic hedgehog, we examined whether <it>BMP-2 </it>expression was dependent on sonic hedgehog signaling and whether it affects patterning of the autopod during regeneration.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>The expression of <it>BMP-2 </it>and <it>SOX-9 </it>in developing and regenerating axolotl limbs corresponded to the first digits forming in the anterior portion of the autopods. The inhibition of sonic hedgehog signaling with cyclopamine caused hypomorphic limbs (during development and regeneration) but did not affect the expression of <it>BMP-2 </it>and <it>SOX-9</it>. Overexpression of <it>BMP-2 </it>in regenerating limbs caused a loss of digits. Overexpression of <it>Noggin </it>(<it>BMP </it>inhibitor) in regenerating limbs also resulted in a loss of digits. Histological analysis indicated that the loss due to <it>BMP-2 </it>overexpression was the result of increased cell condensation and apoptosis while the loss caused by <it>Noggin </it>was due to a decrease in cell division.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>The expression of <it>BMP-2 </it>and its target <it>SOX-9 </it>was independent of sonic hedgehog signaling in developing and regenerating limbs. Their expression correlated with chondrogenesis and the appearance of skeletal elements has described in other tetrapods. Overexpression of <it>BMP-2 </it>did not cause the formation of extra digits, which is consistent with the hypothesis that it is not the secondary signal of sonic hedgehog. However, it did cause the formation of hypomorphic limbs as a result of increased cellular condensation and apoptosis. Taken together, these results suggest that <it>BMP-2 </it>does not have a direct role in patterning regenerating limbs but may be important to trigger condensation prior to ossification and to mediate apoptosis.</p

The 20S proteasome core, active within apoptotic exosome-like vesicles, induces autoantibody production and accelerates rejection

Autoantibodies to components of apoptotic cells, such as anti-perlecan antibodies, contribute to rejection in organ transplant recipients. However, mechanisms of immunization to apoptotic components remain largely uncharacterized. We used large-scale proteomics, with validation by electron microscopy and biochemical methods, to compare the protein profiles of apoptotic bodies and apoptotic exosome-like vesicles, smaller extracellular vesicles released by endothelial cells downstream of caspase-3 activation. We identified apoptotic exosome-like vesicles as a central trigger for production of anti-perlecan antibodies and acceleration of rejection. Unlike apoptotic bodies, apoptotic exosome-like vesicles triggered the production of anti-perlecan antibodies in naïve mice and enhanced anti-perlecan antibody production and allograft inflammation in mice transplanted with an MHC (major histocompatibility complex)–incompatible aortic graft. The 20S proteasome core was active within apoptotic exosome-like vesicles and controlled their immunogenic activity. Finally, we showed that proteasome activity in circulating exosome-like vesicles increased after vascular injury in mice. These findings open new avenues for predicting and controlling maladaptive humoral responses to apoptotic cell components that enhance the risk of rejection after transplantation
