    Presentamos en este trabajo los instrumentos de evaluación propuestos por estudiantes de 2º curso del Grado de Educación Primaria mientras cursaban la asignatura de Didáctica de las Ciencias Experimentales en la Universidad de Sevilla. El desarrollo del curso se ha realizado a partir de una propuesta de enseñanza de las ciencias por investigación escolar, diseñada en el seno de un Proyecto de I+D+i1. A partir del análisis del contenido de las tres propuestas de enseñanza que los estudiantes elaboran a lo largo del curso, resulta: 1) un replanteamiento de la propuesta inicial. 2) diversificación de instrumentos. 3) escaso uso de instrumentos de evaluación para favorecer la autonomía del estudiante.Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación EDU2011-2355

    Deciphering predictive factors for choice of thrombopoietin receptor agonist, treatment free responses, and thrombotic events in immune thrombocytopenia

We conducted an observational, retrospective, long-term follow-up multicenter study from November 2016 to January 2018 of 121 adult ITP patients initiating TPO-RA between January 2012 to December 2014. Data reflected that a platelet count ≤25 × 109/l at the time when the TPO-RA was initiated was associated with a 2.8 higher probability of receiving romiplostim vs. eltrombopag (P = 0.010). VE on TPO-RA was related to previous neoplasia in patients over 65 years (50% vs. 2.2%, P < 0.001), and to previous splenectomy in younger patients (100% vs. 33%, P = 0.001). Receiving romiplostim as first TPO-RA with no subsequent TPO-RA switching was associated with a 50% likelihood of TFR after 2.9 years of therapy (3.3 years in chronic ITP patients). These real-world data help deciphering some areas of uncertainty, and offer insight into some of the most relevant challenges of ITP which may help clinicians make appropriate treatment decisions in the management of adult ITP patients with TPO-RA

    Resumen El propósito de este estudio fue diferenciar los niveles de grasa corporal de estudiantes de entre 13 y 15 años, para a partir de ahí conocer las opiniones y actitudes que pueden asociarse con variables como la autoestima, hábitos sedentarios, la frecuencia de actividad física y salud, así como su relación respecto a variables independientes como la edad, sexo y composición corporal. El estudio fue realizado sobre 145 estudiantes de educación secundaria, divididos en dos grupos diferentes según el peso: el normal y sobrepeso. Se obtuvieron medidas de índice de masa corporal y bioimpedancia eléctrica, así como información adicional mediante un doble cuestionario. La validez y fiabilidad se calculó realizando análisis de datos exploratorio con factorización realizada sobre la matriz de correlaciones policórica, y el coeficiente alfa de Cronbach respectivamente. Se hallaron 3 factores que explican el 44% de la varianza. Based on the former, the study researches opinions and attitudes which may be associated with variables like self-esteem, sedentary habits, frequency of physical activity and health, as well as the correlation between their answers and factors like age, sex and body composition. The study is based on evidence of 145 high school students divided into two groups: normal and overweight. Measurements of body mass index and electrical bioimpedance as well as additional information from a double questionnaire were obtained. Test validity and reliability was achieved using exploratory analysis and applying factorization on the polychoric correlation matrix and Cronbach's alpha. Three factors were found to explain 44% of the variance. Analysis of variance revealed significant differences between the opinion of normal and of overweight students (p < 0.05). The former scored lower than the latter as regards their teachers' recommendations about extra-curricular physical activity, and considered their physical activity at school ineffective against excess body fat. The study made it clear that many parents were not actively encouraging their overweight children to take up physical activity.</p

    Inhibition of intermediate-conductance calcium-activated K channel (KCa3.1) and fibroblast mitogenesis by a-linolenic acid and alterations of channel expression in the lysosomal storage disorders, fabry disease, and niemann pick C

    The calcium/calmodulin-gated KCa3.1 channel regulates normal and abnormal mitogenesis by controlling K+-efflux, cell volume, and membrane hyperpolarization-driven calcium-entry. Recent studies suggest modulation of KCa3.1 by omega-3 fatty acids as negative modulators and impaired KCa3.1 functions in the inherited lysosomal storage disorder (LSD), Fabry disease (FD). In the first part of present study, we characterize KCa3.1 in murine and human fibroblasts and test the impact of omega-3 fatty acids on fibroblast proliferation. In the second, we study whether KCa3.1 is altered in the LSDs, FD, and Niemann-Pick disease type C (NPC). Our patch-clamp and mRNA-expression studies on murine and human fibroblasts show functional expression of KCa3.1. KCa currents display the typical pharmacological fingerprint of KCa3.1: Ca2+-activation, potentiation by the positive-gating modulators, SKA-31 and SKA-121, and inhibition by TRAM-34, Senicapoc (ICA-17043), and the negative-gating modulator, 13b. Considering modulation by omega-3 fatty acids we found that a-linolenic acid (a-LA) and docosahexanenoic acid (DHA) inhibit KCa3.1 currents and strongly reduce fibroblast growth. The a-LA-rich linseed oil and ¿-LA-rich borage oil at 0.5% produce channel inhibition while a-LA/¿-LA-low oils has no anti-proliferative effect. Concerning KCa3.1 in LSD, mRNA expression studies, and patch-clamp on primary fibroblasts from FD and NPC patients reveal lower KCa3.1-gene expression and membrane expression than in control fibroblasts. In conclusion, the omega-3 fatty acid, a-LA, and a-LA/¿-LA-rich plant oils, inhibit fibroblast KCa3.1 channels and mitogenesis. Reduced fibroblast KCa3.1 functions are a feature and possible biomarker of cell dysfunction in FD and NPC and supports the concept that biased lipid metabolism is capable of negatively modulating KCa3.1 expression

    Osteochondritis dissecans of the knee represents a complex pathology which is very frequently diagnosed late. It is therefore a challenge for the orthopaedic surgeon to avoid such delay in the diagnosis, and to provide a suitable early treatment for the patient. We present the case of a patient with osteochondritis dissecans of trochlear grove localization, which is characterized by the uncommon location of the pathology (approximately 1% according to the series consulted). The patient is a 13-year-old male suffering from pain and repetition spills in his left knee of more than 2 years of evolution, which doesn?t allow normal sports activity. Even though the literature related to the osteochondritis dissecans of the knee located in the medial femoral condyle is abundant and its treatment and rehabilitation algorithms are clear, they are not for the rest of its much less frequent location

    Effect of polymer structure on gas transport properties of selected aromatic polyimides, polyamides and TR polymers

    Thermally rearranged (TR) polymers are formed through a thermally induced solid-state reaction of polyimides or polyamides that contain nucleophilic reactive groups ortho-positioned to their diamine. Naturally, the transport properties of TR polymers are intimately related to the chemical structure and reactivity of their precursors. Herein, we report characterization and transport properties for three poly(hydroxyimide) precursors prepared via thermal imidization in solution and for their corresponding TR polymers. Structural modifications to the polymer backbone can be used to control thermal rearrangement reaction kinetics. In regards to TR polymer formation, samples prepared from diamines with biphenyl functionality reacted more efficiently than those prepared from diamines with hexafluoroisopropylidene-linked aromatic units. However, hexafluoroisopropylidene functional units provided the highest combinations of permeability and selectivity for separations involving H2, N2, O2, CH4, and CO2. Differences in permeability between samples correlated well with changes in free volume, and 3 poly(hydroxyimide)s showed unusually high selectivities for their given free volume. The effect of synthesis route was also investigated for a specific TR polymer derived from 3,3'-dihydroxy-4,4'-diamino-biphenyl (HAB) and 2,2'-bis-(3,4-dicarboxyphenyl) hexafluoropropane dianhydride (6FDA). Poly(hydroxyimide) precursors prepared via thermal imidization in solution and thermal imidization in the solid-state showed nearly identical permeabilities and selectivities regardless of synthesis route. However, after thermal rearrangement, the TR polymers prepared from polyimides synthesized via solid-state imidization have higher gas permeabilities than their solution-imidized analogs. In addition to light gas permeabilities, plasticization effects were investigated with CO2 hysteresis loops for all samples, and pure-gas olefin/paraffin permeabilities were determined for a TR polymer derived from 2,2-bis(3-amino-4-hydroxyphenyl)-hexafluoropropane (APAF) and 6FDA. With the exception of HAB-6FDA polyimides, pure-gas CO2 feed pressures up to approximately 50bar do not reveal a plasticization pressure point, but conditioning effects are observed for most samples.     Los Poyos del Molinillo (Frigiliana): new site of the Bronze Age in the East Axarquía (Málaga, Andalucía)

    En este trabajo damos a conocer un nuevo yacimiento descubierto recientemente en el municipio de Frigiliana. La delimitación del área denominada Los Poyos del Molinillo permitió definir la existencia de un poblado y una covacha con restos de una inhumación. El estudio de los materiales arqueológicos, que incluye cerámica, piezas metálicas o elementos de molturación, o la datación AMS obtenida, permiten adscribir el yacimiento a la Edad del Bronce y ampliar el conocimiento de esta etapa en la Axarquía oriental (Málaga, Andalucía).In this work we present a new site recently discovered in the Frigiliana municipality (Málaga). The spatial delimitation of the so called Los Poyos del Molinillo area let us define a Bronze age settlement and an inhumation burial cave. The archaeological record includes ceramic, metallic items or grinding elements, all of them belonging to the Bronze Age, as well as an AMS Radiocarbon data. This site extends the knowledge about this period in the Eastern Axarquía (Málaga, Andalucía)

    MAGIC observations of MWC 656, the only known Be/BH system

    Context: MWC 656 has recently been established as the first observationally detected high-mass X-ray binary system containing a Be star and a black hole (BH). The system has been associated with a gamma-ray flaring event detected by the AGILE satellite in July 2010. Aims: Our aim is to evaluate if the MWC 656 gamma-ray emission extends to very high energy (VHE > 100 GeV) gamma rays. Methods. We have observed MWC 656 with the MAGIC telescopes for \sim23 hours during two observation periods: between May and June 2012 and June 2013. During the last period, observations were performed contemporaneously with X-ray (XMM-Newton) and optical (STELLA) instruments. Results: We have not detected the MWC 656 binary system at TeV energies with the MAGIC Telescopes in either of the two campaigns carried out. Upper limits (ULs) to the integral flux above 300 GeV have been set, as well as differential ULs at a level of \sim5% of the Crab Nebula flux. The results obtained from the MAGIC observations do not support persistent emission of very high energy gamma rays from this system at a level of 2.4% the Crab flux.Comment: Accepted for publication in A&A. 5 pages, 2 figures, 2 table

    Measurement of the Crab Nebula spectrum over three decades in energy with the MAGIC telescopes

    The MAGIC stereoscopic system collected 69 hours of Crab Nebula data between October 2009 and April 2011. Analysis of this data sample using the latest improvements in the MAGIC stereoscopic software provided an unprecedented precision of spectral and night-by-night light curve determination at gamma rays. We derived a differential spectrum with a single instrument from 50 GeV up to almost 30 TeV with 5 bins per energy decade. At low energies, MAGIC results, combined with Fermi-LAT data, show a flat and broad Inverse Compton peak. The overall fit to the data between 1 GeV and 30 TeV is not well described by a log-parabola function. We find that a modified log-parabola function with an exponent of 2.5 instead of 2 provides a good description of the data (χ2=35/26\chi^2=35/26). Using systematic uncertainties of red the MAGIC and Fermi-LAT measurements we determine the position of the Inverse Compton peak to be at (53 ±\pm 3stat + 31syst -13syst) GeV, which is the most precise estimation up to date and is dominated by the systematic effects. There is no hint of the integral flux variability on daily scales at energies above 300 GeV when systematic uncertainties are included in the flux measurement. We consider three state- of-the-art theoretical models to describe the overall spectral energy distribution of the Crab Nebula. The constant B-field model cannot satisfactorily reproduce the VHE spectral measurements presented in this work, having particular difficulty reproducing the broadness of the observed IC peak. Most probably this implies that the assumption of the homogeneity of the magnetic field inside the nebula is incorrect. On the other hand, the time-dependent 1D spectral model provides a good fit of the new VHE results when considering a 80 {\mu}G magnetic field. However, it fails to match the data when including the morphology of the nebula at lower wavelengths.Comment: accepted by JHEAp, 9 pages, 6 figure

    MAGIC detection of short-term variability of the high-peaked BL Lac object 1ES 0806+524

    The high-frequency-peaked BL Lac (HBL) 1ES 0806+524 (z = 0.138) was discovered in VHE γ\gamma rays in 2008. Until now, the broad-band spectrum of 1ES 0806+524 has been only poorly characterized, in particular at high energies. We analysed multiwavelength observations from γ\gamma rays to radio performed from 2011 January to March, which were triggered by the high activity detected at optical frequencies. These observations constitute the most precise determination of the broad-band emission of 1ES 0806+524 to date. The stereoscopic MAGIC observations yielded a γ\gamma-ray signal above 250 GeV of (3.7±0.7)(3.7 \pm 0.7) per cent of the Crab Nebula flux with a statistical significance of 9.9 σ\sigma. The multiwavelength observations showed significant variability in essentially all energy bands, including a VHE γ\gamma-ray flare that lasted less than one night, which provided unprecedented evidence for short-term variability in 1ES 0806+524. The spectrum of this flare is well described by a power law with a photon index of 2.97±0.292.97 \pm 0.29 between \sim150 GeV and 1 TeV and an integral flux of (9.3±1.9)(9.3 \pm 1.9) per cent of the Crab Nebula flux above 250 GeV. The spectrum during the non-flaring VHE activity is compatible with the only available VHE observation performed in 2008 with VERITAS when the source was in a low optical state. The broad-band spectral energy distribution can be described with a one-zone Synchrotron Self Compton model with parameters typical for HBLs, indicating that 1ES 0806+524 is not substantially different from the HBLs previously detected.Comment: 12 pages, 8 figures, 3 tables, accepted 2015 April 20 for publication in Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society Main Journa
