    QCD predictions for polarised deep inelastic scattering accompanied by a forward jet in the low x region of possible HERA measurements

    We estimate the cross-section and asymmetry relevant for the production of forward jets in polarised deep inelastic scattering in the region of small values of xx which can be probed at possible polarised HERA measurements. The kinematical cuts implemented in our analysis are the same as those which were used in the unpolarised deep inelastic scattering at HERA. The calculations are based on the double ln^2(1/x) resummation which controls the polarised deep inelastic scattering for small values of the Bjorken parameter x. We show that this resummation substantially enhances the corresponding cross-section and asymmetry. The predicted value of the asymmetry is found to vary between -0.01 and -0.04 within the small x region which can possibly be probed at polarised HERA measurements.Comment: 9 pages, latex, 3 figure

    Diffractive J/Psi production in high energy gamma-gamma collisions as a probe of the QCD pomeron

    The reaction \gamma\gamma ---> J/Psi J/Psi is discussed assuming dominance of the QCD BFKL pomeron exchange. We give prediction for the cross-section of this process for LEP2 and TESLA energies. We solve the BFKL equation in the non-forward configuration taking into account dominant non-leading effects which come from the requirement that the virtuality of the exchanged gluons along the gluon ladder is controlled by their transverse momentum squared. We compare our results with those corresponding to the simple two gluon exchange mechanism and with the BFKL pomeron exchange in the leading logarithmic approximation. The BFKL effects are found to generate a steeper t-dependence than the two gluon exchange. The cross-section is found to increase with increasing CM energy W as (W^2)^{2\lambda}. The parameter \lambda is slowly varying with W and takes the values lambda \sim 0.23 - 0.28. The magnitude of the total cross-section for the process \gamma\gamma --> J/Psi J/Psi is found to increase from 4 to 26 pb within the energy range accessible at LEP2. The magnitude of the total cross-section for the process e^+e^- ---> e^+e^- J/Psi J/Psi with antitagged e^+ and e^- is estimated to be around 0.1 pb at LEP2.Comment: 14 pages, epsf, 4 PS figures included; predictions for the electroproducion at LEP2 are given; some references added, language improved; final version to appear in Phys.     Polarised deep inelastic scattering accompanied by a forward jet as a probe of the ln⁥2(1/x)\ln^2(1/x) resummation

    We argue that the production of forward jets in polarised deep inelastic scattering can be a useful tool for probing the double ln2(1/x)ln^2(1/x) resummation effects which control the polarised deep inelastic scattering for small values of the Bjorken parameter xx. We solve the corresponding integral equations generating the double ln2(1/x)ln^2(1/x) resummation and calculate the differential structure function describing the forward jet production in the small xx regime which can possibly be probed by the polarised HERA measurements. We show that these structure functions should exhibit the characteristic increase with decreasing x/xJx/x_J, where xJx_J denotes the longitudinal momentum fraction of the parent proton carried by a jet, and we quantify this increase.Comment: 13 pages, latex, 5 figure

    QCD coherence effects in initial state radiation at small x in deep inelastic scattering in HERA kinematics are studied with the help of the Monte Carlo model SMALLX. Theoretical assumptions based on the CCFM evolution equation are reviewed and the basic properties of the partonic final states are investigated.     Probing the QCD pomeron in doubly tagged e^+ e^- collisions

    We calculate the total cross-section for γ∗γ∗\gamma^* \gamma^* collisions and for the process e+e−→e+e−+hadronse^+ e^- \to e^+ e^- + hadrons with two tagged leptons assuming dominance of the QCD pomeron exchange. We solve the BFKL equation including the dominant subleading effects generated by the consistency constraint which restricts the available phase-space of the emitted gluons to the region inwhich the virtuality of the exchanged gluons is dominated by their transverse momentum squared. Estimate of the possible soft pomeron contribution to the γ∗γ∗\gamma^* \gamma^* cross-section is also presented. At very high CM energies WW the calculated total γ∗γ∗\gamma^* \gamma^* cross-section exhibits effective power-law (W2)λ(W^2)^{\lambda} behaviour with λ∌0.3\lambda \sim 0.3. We confront our results with the recent measurements at LEP and give predictions for the energies which can be accessible at TESLA and at other future linear e+e−e^+ e^- colliders.Comment: 12 pages, LaTeX, 3 figure

    Photon-jet correlations in pppp and ppˉp \bar p collisions

    We compare results of the ktk_t-factorization approach and the next-to-leading order collinear-factorization approach for photon-jet correlations in pppp and ppˉp \bar p collisions at RHIC and Tevatron energies. We discuss correlations in the azimuthal angle as well as in the two-dimensional space of transverse momentum of photon and jet. Different unintegrated parton distributions (UPDF) are included in the ktk_t-factorization approach. The results depend on UPDFs used. The standard collinear approach gives cross section comparable to the ktk_t-factorization approach. For correlations of the photon and any jet the NLO contributions dominate at relatively small azimuthal angles as well as for asymmetric transverse momenta. For correlations of the photon with the leading jet (the one having the biggest transverse momentum) the NLO approach gives zero contribution at ϕ−<π/2\phi_{-} < \pi/2 which opens a possibility to study higher-order terms and/or UPDFs in this region.Comment: 14 pages, 17 figure

    A Numerical Estimate of the Small-kTk_T Region in the BFKL Pomeron

    A computer study is performed to estimate the influence of the small-kTk_T region in the BFKL evolution equation. We consider the small-x region of the deep inelastic structure function F2F_2 and show that the magnitude of the small-kTk_T region depends on Q2Q^2 and xBx_B. We suggest that the width of the log⁥kT2\log k_T^2-distribution in the final state may serve as an additional footprint of BFKL dynamics. For diffractive dissociation it is shown that the contribution of the infrared region is large - even for large Q2Q^2.     The QCD expectations concerning the deep inelastic lepton - hadron scattering at low xx and their phenomenological implications for HERA are summarised. Theoretical predictions for the structure function F2(x,Q2)F_2(x,Q^2) based on the leading log1/x1/x resummation are presented and compared with the results obtained from the Altarelli-Parisi equations. Theoretical predictions are confronted with the recent data from HERA.     Regge behaviour of symmetric octet exchange amplitude for gluon-gluon scattering

    The Regge behaviour of the symmetric octet amplitude for gluon-gluon scattering in the massive SU(3)c_{c} theory is studied. It is shown that the asymptotic behaviour of this amplitude is controlled by a moving Regge pole similarly to the antisymmetric octet amplitude which is asymptotically described by the reggeised gluon. The corresponding Regge trajectories are, however, different and physical origin of this difference is discussed
