High energy neutrino absorption by W production in a strong magnetic field

An influence of a strong external magnetic field on the neutrino self-energy operator is investigated. The width of the neutrino decay into the electron and W boson, and the mean free path of an ultra-high energy neutrino in a strong magnetic field are calculated. A kind of energy cutoff for neutrinos propagating in a strong field is defined.Comment: 13 pages, LaTeX, 1 EPS figure, submitted to Physics Letters

The Poisson bracket compatible with the classical reflection equation algebra

We introduce a family of compatible Poisson brackets on the space of 2×22\times 2 polynomial matrices, which contains the reflection equation algebra bracket. Then we use it to derive a multi-Hamiltonian structure for a set of integrable systems that includes the XXXXXX Heisenberg magnet with boundary conditions, the generalized Toda lattices and the Kowalevski top.Comment: 13 pages, LaTeX with AmsFont

Hyperbolic chaos in self-oscillating systems based on mechanical triple linkage: Testing absence of tangencies of stable and unstable manifolds for phase trajectories

Dynamical equations are formulated and a numerical study is provided for self-oscillatory model systems based on the triple linkage hinge mechanism of Thurston -- Weeks -- Hunt -- MacKay. We consider systems with holonomic mechanical constraint of three rotators as well as systems, where three rotators interact by potential forces. We present and discuss some quantitative characteristics of the chaotic regimes (Lyapunov exponents, power spectrum). Chaotic dynamics of the models we consider are associated with hyperbolic attractors, at least, at relatively small supercriticality of the self-oscillating modes; that follows from numerical analysis of the distribution for angles of intersection of stable and unstable manifolds of phase trajectories on the attractors. In systems based on rotators with interacting potential the hyperbolicity is violated starting from a certain level of excitation.Comment: 30 pages, 18 figure

Photon decay gamma->nu anti-nu in an external magnetic field

The process of the photon decay into the neutrino - antineutrino pair in a magnetic field is investigated. The amplitude and the probability are analysed in the limits of relatively small and strong fields. The probability is suppressed by a factor (G_F m^2_e)^2 as compared with the probability of the pure electromagnetic process gamma -> e- e+. However, the process with neutrinos could play a role of an additional channel of stellar energy-loss.Comment: 8 pages, LaTeX, typos fixed, minor modifications, version accepted to Physics Letters

Plasma influence on the neutrino - electron processes in a strong magnetic field

An influence of the magnetized electron - positron plasma on the absorption and loss of the energy and momentum in a process of neutrino propagation is investigated. A total contribution of all crossed processes, ννee+\nu \to \nu e^- e^+, νeνe\nu e^- \to \nu e^-, νe+νe+\nu e^+ \to \nu e^+, νee+ν\nu e^- e^+ \to \nu, is found for the first time, which appears not to depend on the chemical potential of electron-positron gas. Relatively simple expressions for the probability and mean losses of the neutrino energy and momentum are obtained, which are suitable for a quantitative analysis.Comment: 8 pages, 1 ps figure, LaTeX, uses espcrc2.sty,epsf.sty, based on the talks presented at the Xth International Baksan School "Particles and Cosmology", Baksan Valley, Kabardino Balkaria, Russia, April 19-25, 1999 and the International Workshop "Particles in Astrophysics and Cosmology: From Theory to Observation", Valencia, Spain, May 3-8, 199

New variables of separation for particular case of the Kowalevski top

We discuss the polynomial bi-Hamiltonian structures for the Kowalevski top in special case of zero square integral. An explicit procedure to find variables of separation and separation relations is considered in detail.Comment: 11 pages, LaTeX with Ams font

Modeling traffic jams in intracellular transport in axons

    Get PDF
Irregularities in intracellular traffic in axons caused by mutations of molecular motors may lead to “traffic jams”, which often result in swelling of axons causing various neurodegenerative diseases. The purpose of this paper is to suggest a model of the formation of traffic jams in axons during molecular-motor-assisted transport of intracellular organelles utilizing transport equations developed in Smith and Simmons [1], which describe the motion of intracellular particles under the combined action of diffusion and motor-driven transport. According to this model, large intracellular organelles are transported in the cytoplasm by a combined action of diffusion and motor-driven transport. In an axon, organelles are transported away from the neuron’s body toward the axon’s terminal by kinesin-family molecular motors running on tracks composed by microtubules; old and used components are carried back toward neuron’s body by dynein-family molecular motors. Binding/detachment kinetic processes between the organelles and microtubules are specified by first rate reaction constants; these lead to coupling between the three organelle concentrations

Baxter Q-operator and Separation of Variables for the open SL(2,R) spin chain

We construct the Baxter Q-operator and the representation of the Separated Variables (SoV) for the homogeneous open SL(2,R) spin chain. Applying the diagrammatical approach, we calculate Sklyanin's integration measure in the separated variables and obtain the solution to the spectral problem for the model in terms of the eigenvalues of the Q-operator. We show that the transition kernel to the SoV representation is factorized into the product of certain operators each depending on a single separated variable. As a consequence, it has a universal pyramid-like form that has been already observed for various quantum integrable models such as periodic Toda chain, closed SL(2,R) and SL(2,C) spin chains.Comment: 29 pages, 9 figures, Latex styl

Vector Leptoquarks Could Be Rather Light?

    Get PDF
Some low-energy manifestations of a minimal extension of the Standard Model based on the quark-lepton SU(4)VSU(2)LGRSU(4)_V \otimes SU(2)_L \otimes G_R symmetry of the Pati-Salam type are analysed. Given this symmetry a new type of mixing in the quark-lepton interactions is shown to be required. An additional arbitrariness of the mixing parameters could allow to decrease noticeably the lower bound on the leptoquark mass MXM_X originated from the π\pi and KK decays and the μe\mu e conversion. The only mixing independent bound emerging from the cosmological limit on the π0ννˉ\pi^0 \rightarrow \nu \bar{\nu} decay width is MX>18 TeVM_X > 18~TeV.Comment: 10 pages, LaTeX, Yaroslavl, Yaroslavl State University preprint YARU-HE-94/0
