Duration of magnetic field(s) acting on meteorite parent body(s)
An overview is presented on the efforts being made to estimate the time that the magnetic field(s) existed and acted on meteorite parent bodies. The basic premise is that if a sample exhibits a low K-Ar age, it is the requisite amount of Ar-40. This assumption is applied to a preliminary analysis of the Farmington chondrite
PENGARUH BEBERAPA DOSIS KOMPOS DAN AZOLLA ( Azolla pinnata R. B ) SEGAR PADA PERTUMBUHAN DAN HASIL 2 VARIETAS TANAMAN WORTEL ( Daucus carotta L. )

Dust-related interannual and intraseasonal variability of Martian climate using data assimilation
Data assimilation has been applied in several studies [Montabone et al., 2005; Lewis et al., 2005; Montabone et al., 2006a; Montabone et al., 2006b; Lewis et al., 2007; Wilson et al., 2008; Rogberg et al. 2010] as an effective tool with which to analyze spacecraft observations and phenomena (e.g., atmospheric tides, transient wave behavior, effects of clouds in the tropics, weather predictability, etc.) in the Martian atmosphere. A data assimilation scheme combined with a Martian Global Circulation Model (GCM) is able to provide a complete, balanced, four-dimensional solution consistent with observations.
The GCM we use [Forget et al., 1999] combines a spectral dynamical solver and a tracer transport scheme developed in UK and Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique (LMD; Paris, France) physics package developed in collaboration with Oxford, The Open University and Instituto de Astrofisica de Andalucia (Granada, Spain).
Here, we describe and discuss dust-related interannual and intraseasonal variability of the Martian climate. The results shown in this study come from a reanalysis using the Martian GCM with data assimilation scheme which assimilates Mars Global Surveyor/ Thermal Emission Spectrometer (MGS/TES) retrievals of temperature and column dust opacity. The detailed model setup was described by Montabone et al. [2006a], and the data assimilation scheme employed in this study was introduced in the work of Lewis et al. [2007]
Holographic injection locking of a broad area laser diode via a photorefractive thin-film device
We demonstrate locking of a high power broad area laser diode to a single frequency using holographic feedback from a photorefractive polymer thin-film device for the first time. A four-wave mixing setup is used to generate feedback for the broad area diode at the wavelength of the single frequency source (Ti:Sapphire laser) while the spatial distribution adapts to the preferred profile of the broad area diode. The result is an injection-locked broad area diode emitting with a linewidth comparable to the Ti:Sapphire laser
The Impact of Downward Nominal Wage Rigidity on the Unemployment Rate: Quantitative Evidence from Japan
To what extent does downward nominal wage rigidity (DNWR) raise the unemployment rate during periods of low inflation or deflation? To answer this question, we simulate the impact on the male unemployment rate in Japan, by incorporating the DNWR of full-time male employees as estimated by Kuroda and Yamamoto into the general equilibrium model of Akerlof et al. The simulation results show the following. First, the DNWR estimated by Kuroda and Yamamoto with Japanese longitudinal data from 1993-98 has a minor impact on the unemployment rate compared with the case of perfect DNWR. Nevertheless, this impact is not trivial in the sense that it raises the unemployment rate by as much as 1.8 percentage points under the baseline parameters adopted in this paper. Second regarding the relationship with the rate of inflation, DNWR does not cause unemployment as long as the inflation rate is approximately 2.4 percent or higher whereas its effects tend to increase gradually as the inflation rate falls below 2.4 percent. When inflation is below approximately 1 percent, however, the marginal increase in unemployment attributable to DNWR is small since DNWR is moderated by the adjustments to bonuses and extensive wage cuts observed in our Japanese data sets. Instead, under these conditions, it is the additional unemployment brought by labor market distortions that becomes the issue.
The Yuima-e as Theatre of the State
This article analyzes a twelfth-century session of the Yuima-e at Kofukuji as a stage of history to determine the institutional and factional background of its participants. In order to do this, the format of the Yuima-e as it was held in the twelfth century is presented, followed by a study of primary materials related to the 1196 session of this annual ritual. The article then examines the Sanne joichiki, the personal notes of the Todaiji monk Sosho, and diaries, to conclude that these sessions can indeed be considered "theatres of the state" in which the connection between Kuroda Toshio's concepts of kenmon and kenmitsu taisei can be found
