Binary Relations as a Foundation of Mathematics
We describe a theory for binary relations in the Zermelo-Fraenkel style. We choose for ZFCU, a variant of ZFC Set theory in which the Axiom of Foundation is replaced by an axiom allowing for non-wellfounded sets. The theory of binary relations is shown to be equi-consistent ZFCU by constructing a model for the theory of binary relations in ZFU and vice versa. Thus, binary relations are a foundation for mathematics in the same sense as sets are
Flexible Sensor Network Reprogramming for Logistics
Besides the currently realized applications, Wireless Sensor
Networks can be put to use in logistics processes. However, doing so requires a level of flexibility and safety not provided by the current WSN software platforms. This paper discusses a logistics scenario, and presents SensorScheme, a runtime environment used to realize this scenario, based on semantics of the Scheme programming language. SensorScheme is a general purpose WSN platform, providing dynamic reprogramming, memory safety (sandboxing), blocking I/O, marshalled communication, compact code transport. It improves on the state of the art by making better use of the little available memory, thereby providing greater capability in terms of program size and complexity. We illustrate the use of our platform with some application examples, and provide experimental results to show its
compactness, speed of operation and energy efficiency
Demonstration of Run-time Spatial Mapping of Streaming Applications to a Heterogeneous Multi-Processor System-on-Chip (MPSoC)
In this paper, the problem of spatial mapping is defined. Reasons are presented to show why performing spatial mappings at run-time is both necessary and desirable and criteria for the qualitative comparison of spatial mappings are introduced. An algorithm is described that implements a preliminary spatial mapper. The methods used in the algorithm are demonstrated with an illustrative example
Threshold effects of energy price changes
This paper presents a theoretical model emphasising energy investmentsācharacteristics of uncertainty and irreversibility. The theoretical modelsuggests threshold effects. Firms are induced to substitute away from energyonly if prices of energy exceed a certain threshold level and they reverse thetechnology only if energy prices are low enough. Estimating a simpleinvestment relation using panel data for the Dutch economy, we findevidence for threshold effects.

Modeling of the Reservoir Effect on Electromigration Lifetime
Electromigration behaviour in W-plug/metal stripe structures is different from conventional metal-strip structures because there is a blocking boundary formed by the immobile W-plug in the contact/via. Electromigration failures occur more readily close to the W-plug than in metal-strip structures because metal ions are forced away from the contacts/vias by electric current, blocking the contacts/vias area. Several works have reported electromigration lifetime of multiple level interconnects to be influenced by the presence of a reservoir around the contacts/vias. Reservoirs are metal parts that are not or are hardly conducting current that act as a source to provide atoms for the area around the blocking boundary where the atoms migrate away due to the electric current. Interconnect lifetime can be prolonged by using the reservoirs, called the Āæreservoir effectĀæ. 2D simulation of the effects of reservoirs has been performed. The stress build-up during electromigration in the contact area can be simulated for several configurations, separating the effects of overlap, total reservoir area, the reservoir layout directions (vertical and horizontal), number of contacts/vias and contact/via placement. It is very useful for IC design rules to estimate which parameters are important for IC reliability.
