A new Pintalia species from Costa Rica (Hemiptera: Fulgoromorpha: Cixiidae)

Eine neue Cixiidae-Art, Pintalia hannae nov. spec., wird aus den Regenwäldern der Cordillera Talamanca und des südlichen (pazifischen) Teils von Costa Rica beschrieben. Die Art ist leicht an ihrer auffälligen Färbung zu erkennen: Kopf und Thorax sind leuchtend orange, die Vor-derflügel-Ränder sind entlang des Clavus breit weiß, die übrigen Vorderflügel gelblich-stroh-farben mit nur wenigen dunkleren Flecken. A new Cixiidae species, Pintalia hannae nov. spec., is described from rainforests of the Cordillera Talamanca and the southern (Pacific) part of Costa Rica. The species is easily recognised by its stunning colouration: Head and thorax are bright orange, the forewing mar-gins are broad white along the clavus, and the remaining forewings are yellowish-straw col-oured with only a few darker spots.&nbsp

Acanalonia conica (Say, 1830) and three other true hopper species new for Austria (Hemiptera: Auchenorrhyncha)

Acanalonia conica (Say, 1830) und drei weitere Zikadenarten neu für Österreich (Hemiptera: Auchenorrhyncha). – Drei Neozoen, Acanalonia conica (Say, 1830), Aplos simplex (Germar, 1830) und Hishimonus hamatus Kuoh, 1976 wurden in einer Gärtnerei in Graz erstmals für Österreich nachgewiesen. Sie wurden wahrscheinlich mit Ziersträuchern aus Italien importiert. Ein weiterer Erstnachweis betrifft Chiasmus conspurcatus (Perris, 1857). Diese Art ist heimisch und wurde an zwei Salzlacken des Nationalparks Neusiedlersee-Seewinkel nachgewiesen. Eine Gesamtliste jener 71 Zikadenarten, die an den beiden Lacken gefunden wurden, wird ebenfalls vorgelegt.  Acanalonia conica (Say, 1830), Aplos simplex (Germar, 1830) and Hishimonus hamatus Kuoh, 1976 are three alien species reported for the first time from Austria. They were found in a garden centre in Graz and presumably imported with ornamental shrubs from Italy. Another first record is Chiasmus conspurcatus (Perris, 1857), an indigenous species found in the Neusiedlersee-Seewinkel National Park. In addition, we present a list of 71 Auchenorrhyncha species found at the two inland salt marshes, where C. conspurcatus occurs

Courtship behaviour and vibrational communication of the planthopper Apartus michalki (Wagner, 1948): (Hemiptera: Fulgoromorpha: Cixiidae)

Paarungsverhalten und Vibrationskommunikation von Apartus michalki (Wagner, 1948) (Hemiptera: Fulgoromorpha: Cixiidae). – Cixiidae benötigen, wie alle sich sexuell reprodu- zierende Taxa, eine Reihe von Erkennungsmerkmalen, um potentielle Paarungspartner zu identifizieren und zu lokalisieren (specific mate recognition system = SMRS). Zwar ist der Einsatz von akustischen und/oder substratgebundenen Signalen als Teil des SMRS bei Hemipteren bekannt und weit verbreitet, die Kenntnisse zum Paarungsverhalten bei Cixiiden sind jedoch noch lückenhaft. In diesem Beitrag dokumentieren wir zum ersten Mal die Vibrationskommunikation bei Apartus michalki zusammen mit weiteren Beobachtungen zum Paarungsverhalten dieser Art.Cixiidae require a set of clues in order to recognize and localize potential conspecific partners for mating (specific mate recognition system = SMRS). The use of acoustic and/or vibrational signals as part of the SMRS is ubiquitous in Hemiptera. However, the general knowledge of the mating behaviour of Cixiidae is still patchy. Die Zikadenfauna der Kallbrunnalm (Salzburg, Österreich)

Im Rahmen des Projektes „Almen aktivieren“ wurden in den Bundesländern Salzburg (Österreich) und Bayern (Deutschland) Revitalisierungs‐ und Bewirtschaftungsmaßnahmen evaluiert, welche zur Wiederherstellung der dortig brachgefallenen Almweiden gesetzt wurden. Unter anderem wurde auch die Zikadenfauna auf diesen sechs Almflächen aufgenommen. In dieser Arbeit werden die faunistisch bemerkenswerten Ergebnisse der Kallbrunnalm (Nördliche Kalkalpen, Salzburg, Österreich; 1.700‐1.800 m) präsentiert. Auf 12 Probe‐ flächen konnten mittels Insektensauger, Kescher und Barberfallen im Jahr 2009 und 2012 63 Zikadenarten (mit insgesamt 3.978 Individuen) nachgewiesen werden. Besonders bemerkenswert ist der Fund von Dicranotropis montana, welche bisher in Österreich und Deutschland aus den Alpen nur von sehr wenigen Standorten bekannt ist. 35 Arten sind neu für das Bundesland Salzburg, die Ge‐ samtzahl der aus diesem Bundesland nachgewiesenen Arten steigt damit auf 101.The Auchenorrhyncha fauna of the Kallbrunnalm (Salzburg, Austria). – In Austria (Salzburg) and Germany (Bavaria), six mountain pastures were reactivated for the purpose of nature conservation. The effects of this measures were evaluated by Auchenorrhyncha (among other groups) as bioindicators. Here we present the data gained from the Kallbrunnalm (1700 ‐ 1800 m a.s.l.) in the Northern Calcareous Alps in the federal state of Salzburg, Austria, from a faunistic point of view. These pastures were dominated by calcareous grasslands, but have not been managed for the last 50 years, until 2012 grazing with goats and sheep was re‐established. We studied 12 sampling sites and collected Auchenorrhyncha with a suction sampler (“G‐Vac”), sweepnet and pitfall traps in 2009 and 2012. In total, 63 Auchenorrhyncha species (3.978 specimens) could be found. 35 species were new to the state of Salzburg, thus the number of species known from this federal state increases to 101. The most interesting result is the high abundance of Dicranotropis montana in some patches, a rare and threatened species

Penestragania apicalis (Osborn & Ball, 1898), another invasive Nearctic leafhopper found in Europe: (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae, Iassinae)

Penestragania apicalis (Osborn & Ball, 1898), eine weitere invasive nearktische Zikade in Europa gefunden (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae, Iassinae). – Im Jahr 2010 wurde die nearktische Zikadenart Penestragania apicalis (Osb. & Ball) erstmalig in Europa gefunden. Insgesamt sind derzeit 16 Fundorte in Frankreich, der Schweiz, Deutschland und Österreich bekannt; daher ist davon auszugehen, dass die Art bereits seit längerer Zeit fest etabliert und in Europa und vielleicht weltweit weiter verbreitet ist. Wie in Nordamerika lebt sie an Gleditschie (Gleditsia triacanthos L.), überwintert im Eistadium und hat eine oder zwei Generation pro Jahr, mit adulten Tieren von mindestens Ende Juni bis Anfang Oktober. New and remarkable leafhoppers and planthoppers (Hemiptera: Auchenorrhyncha) from Switzerland

Altogether there are now 16 known localities in France, Switzerland, Germany and Austria indicating that the species is well established for a rather long period and more widespread in Europe and perhaps worldwide. As in North America it lives on honeylocust (Gleditsia triacanthos L.), overwinters in the egg stage and probably has one or two generations a year, with adults at least from late June until early October. It is yet unclear if it causes relevant damage to the host plant in Europe

Zur Zikadenfauna in der Weinlandschaft um Öhringen (Baden-Württemberg, Deutschland): (Hemiptera: Auchenorrhyncha)

Auchenorrhyncha collected in the Canavese district (Northwest Italy): (Hemiptera, Auchenorrhyncha)

Die Ergebnisse von Zikaden-Sammelexkursionen im Distrikt Canavese (Italien, Piemont) werden präsentiert, die im Rahmen des 14. Auchenorrhyncha-Tagung (07.-09. – 09.09.2007) und des 4. Europäischen Hemipteren-Kongresses (10.09. – 14.09.2007) in Ivrea durchgeführt wurden.
