HUBUNGANI INTERTEKSTUAL DALAM BANJARAN GATHUTKACA KARYA KI NARTOSABDO = IN\u27TERTEXTEIAL CONNECTION IN BANJARAN GATHUTKACA, THE WORK OF .KINARTOSABDO

ABSTRACT This study is an attempt to reveal the connection between the text and its hypogram, especially how the transformation came into existence. It was an prominent thing to do as banjaran was created based on the existing cycles, so was Banjaran Gathutkaca. This Banjaran was created based on such cycles as Gathutkaca Lair, Gathutkaca Nagih Janji, Gathutkaca Krama, Brajadenta Mbalela, Aji Narantaka, Kala Bendana Lena, and Gathutkaca Gugur. To meet the need, the writer has to transcribe recordings, and than translates the transcription into Indonesian language. The next thing to do is to examine the structure of the text. Based on the structure on the text the writer realizes how to author combined the existing cycles into a new text. By making an observation the writer realizes that the goal of the transformation into Banjaran Gathutkaca (1983) was to preserve the existing seven traditional cycles. The transformation was done by condensing the seven cycles in such a way that what was left was their cores. The seven cores which has formed a new cycle are called episode, namely the episode of Gathutkaca\u27s birth, of Gathutkaca\u27s done, of Gathutkaca\u27s marriage, of Brajadentas\u27s rebellion, of Ajian Narantaka, of Kala Bendana\u27 death, and of Gathutkaca\u27s death. The condensation is done in the following ways: 1.Combining the main problems in some cycles into one representative scene2.The consequence of this was that certain scenes, replaced by fairly representative ones, disappeared3. Udyogaparwa is one of Old Javanese literary works that told the negotiations and preparations before the war. The purpose of this research is to reveal the specific characteristic of Udyogaparwa, especially its structure, for uncovering four diita\u27s role inside it. This research will also reveal the relation between four diplomatic methods in the traditional politics and those four dfitas as well as their respective position. To achieve these aims, analysis of structure has been applied. Intertextual approach is used for understanding each cliita\u27s role and position. The result of this research shows that Udyogaparwa has specific characteristics, which is different from other literary works. Framework story structure shows the differences in role between first three dfitas and the last. Time structure shows the importance of Krishna\u27s role in the negotiation. Space structure emphasizes Krishna\u27s position as a diita. The four dfitas in Udyogaparwa have their own role and position, depending on their own qualifications. There is dfita who has full authority, data who has limited authority, and also dfita who is just a messenger and has no authority.
