Impedance studies on high energy Li3+ irradiated PZT thin films
The ferroelectric Pb(Zr0.48Ti0.52)O3 (PZT) thin films prepared by the pulsed laser deposition technique were studied for their response to high energy lithium ion irradiation through impedance spectroscopy. The Debye peaks, observed in the impedance and modulus plots of irradiated films, shifts towards higher frequencies compared to those of unirradiated films. This is equivalent to the trend observed with increase in temperature in the unirradiated films due to the dielectric relaxation. The irradiated films showed a decrease in the grain resistance compared to the unirradiated films. The activation energy of dielectric relaxation increases from 1.25 eV of unirradiated film to 1.62 eV of irradiated film. The observed modifications in the irradiated film were ascribed to the modifications in the grain structure due to the high value of electronic energy loss. © 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved
Plumelets: Dynamic Filamentary Structures in Solar Coronal Plumes
Solar coronal plumes long seemed to possess a simple geometry supporting spatially coherent, stable outflow without significant fine structure. Recent high-resolution observations have challenged this picture by revealing numerous transient, small-scale, collimated outflows ("jetlets") at the base of plumes. The dynamic filamentary structure of solar plumes above these outflows, and its relationship with the overall plume structure, have remained largely unexplored. We analyzed the statistics of continuously observed fine structure inside a single representative bright plume within a mid-latitude coronal hole during 2016 July 2–3. By applying advanced edge-enhancement and spatiotemporal analysis techniques to extended series of high-resolution images from the Solar Dynamics Observatory's Atmospheric Imaging Assembly, we determined that the plume was composed of numerous time-evolving filamentary substructures, referred to as "plumelets" in this paper, that accounted for most of the plume emission. The number of simultaneously identifiable plumelets was positively correlated with plume brightness, peaked in the fully formed plume, and remained saturated thereafter. The plumelets had transverse widths of 10 Mm and intermittently supported upwardly propagating periodic disturbances with phase speeds of 190–260 km s−1 and longitudinal wavelengths of 55–65 Mm. The characteristic frequency (≈ 3.3 mHz) is commensurate with that of solar p-modes. Oscillations in neighboring plumelets are uncorrelated, indicating that the waves could be driven by p-mode flows at spatial scales smaller than the plumelet separation. Multiple independent sources of outflow within a single coronal plume should impart significant fine structure to the solar wind that may be detectable by Parker Solar Probe and Solar Orbiter
PDF and scale uncertainties of various DY distributions in ADD and RS models at hadron colliders
In the extra dimension models of ADD and RS we study the dependence of the
various parton distribution functions on observable of Drell-Yan process to NLO
in QCD at LHC and Tevatron energies. Uncertainties at LHC due to factorisation
scales in going from leading to next-to-leading order in QCD for the various
distributions get reduced by about 2.75 times for a range . Further uncertainties arising from the error on experimental
data are estimated using the MRST parton distribution functions.Comment: 27 pages, 11 figures, the version to appear in European Physical

Constraining R-parity violating couplings from B --> PP decays using QCD improved factorization method
We investigate the role of R-parity violating interaction in the non-leptonic
decays of B mesons into two light mesons B --> PP. The decay amplitudes are
calculated using the QCD improved factorization method. Using the combined data
on B decays from BaBar, Belle and CLEO, we obtain strong constraints on the
various products of R-parity violating couplings. Many of these new constraints
are stronger than the existing bounds.Comment: 19 pages including two eps figure
Multiwavelength Observations of Supersonic Plasma Blob Triggered by Reconnection Generated Velocity Pulse in AR10808
Using multi-wavelength observations of Solar and Heliospheric Observatory
(SoHO)/Michelson Doppler Imager (MDI), Transition Region and Coronal Explorer
(TRACE) 171 \AA, and H from Culgoora Solar Observatory at Narrabri,
Australia, we present a unique observational signature of a propagating
supersonic plasma blob before an M6.2 class solar flare in AR10808 on 9th
September 2005. The blob was observed between 05:27 UT to 05:32 UT with almost
a constant shape for the first 2-3 minutes, and thereafter it quickly vanished
in the corona. The observed lower bound speed of the blob is estimated as
215 km s in its dynamical phase. The evidence of the blob with
almost similar shape and velocity concurrent in H and TRACE 171 \AA\
supports its formation by multi-temperature plasma. The energy release by a
recurrent 3-D reconnection process via the separator dome below the magnetic
null point, between the emerging flux and pre-existing field lines in the lower
solar atmosphere, is found to be the driver of a radial velocity pulse outwards
that accelerates this plasma blob in the solar atmosphere. In support of
identification of the possible driver of the observed eruption, we solve the
two-dimensional ideal magnetohydrodynamic equations numerically to simulate the
observed supersonic plasma blob. The numerical modelling closely match the
observed velocity, evolution of multi-temperature plasma, and quick vanishing
of the blob found in the observations. Under typical coronal conditions, such
blobs may also carry an energy flux of 7.0 ergs cm
s to re-balance the coronal losses above active regions.Comment: Solar Physics; 22 Pages; 8 Figure
Search for anomalous top-gluon couplings at LHC revisited
Through top-quark pair productions at LHC, we study possible effects of
nonstandard top-gluon couplings yielded by SU(3)xSU(2)xU(1) invariant
dimension-6 effective operators. We calculate the total cross section and also
some distributions for p p -> t tbar X as functions of two anomalous-coupling
parameters, i.e., the chromoelectric and chromomagnetic moments of the top,
which are constrained by the total cross section sigma(p pbar -> t tbar X)
measured at Tevatron. We find that LHC might give us some chances to observe
sizable effects induced by those new couplings.Comment: One comment and related two refs. added. Final version (to appear in

Construction of exact solutions by spatial traslations in inhomogeneous Nonlinear Schrodinger equations. Applications to Bose-Einstein condensation
In this paper we study a general nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation with a time
dependent harmonic potential. Despite the lack of traslational invariance we
find a symmetry trasformation which, up from any solution, produces infinitely
many others which are centered on classical trajectories. The results presented
here imply that, not only the center of mass of the wave-packet satisfies the
Ehrenfest theorem and is decoupled from the dynamics of the wave-packet, but
also the shape of the solution is independent of the behaviour of the center of
the wave. Our findings have implications on the dynamics of Bose-Einstein
condensates in magnetic trapsComment: Submitted to Phys. Re
