    Chiral plasma instability and primordial Gravitational wave

    It is known that cosmic magnetic field, if present, can generate anisotropic stress in the plasma and hence, can act as a source of gravitational waves. These cosmic magnetic fields can be generated at very high temperature, much above electroweak scale, due to the gravitational anomaly in presence of the chiral asymmetry. The chiral asymmetry leads to instability in the plasma which ultimately leads to the generation of magnetic fields. In this article, we discuss the generation of gravitational waves, during the period of instability, in the chiral plasma sourced by the magnetic field created due to the gravitational anomaly. We have shown that such gravitational wave will have a unique spectrum. Moreover, depending on the temperature of the universe at the time of its generation, such gravitational waves can have a wide range of frequencies. We also estimate the amplitude and frequency of the gravitational waves and delineate the possibility of its detection by future experiments like eLISA.Comment: 8 pages, 2 figure

    The concept of Completivity (Perfectivity) in Croatian verbal tenses: Perfect vs. Non-Perfect Tenses

    The concept of completivity (perfectivity) is very significant in defining the verbal tenses in Croatian. Its introduction into the temporal system helps in defining the structure of the verbal system and also helps in better understanding of verbal paradigms individually and in relation with each other. Completivity and non-completivity, i. e. perfectivity and non- perfectivity can be defined with the help of two points of time in relation with each other: the event time and the reference time. If the event time is prior to the reference time, the action is perfect; on the other hand, if the reference time is at the same point with event time or sometimes prior to event time, the action is non-perfect. This concept is not new to the Croatian linguists, Musić, Katičić and others in their works have dealt with this problem

    Bioefficacy of fungicides, plant extracts and essential oils against Exserohilum turcicum (Pass.) Leonard and Suggs causing Northern leaf blight of maize

    Eight fungicides, ten botanicals and ten essential oils were taken for their in vitro evaluation against Exserohilum turcicum (Pass.) Leonard and Suggs incited of Northern Leaf Blight of Maize. Among all the tested fungicides (Azoxystrobin 23%, Thiophenate methyl 75%, Propiconazole 25%, Tebuconazole 25.9%, Captan 50%, Zineb 75%, Cymoxanil 8%+Mancozeb 64% and Zineb 68%+Hexaconazole 4%), propiconazole 25% showed maximum inhibition of mycelial growth (92.22%) under in vitro conditions at 5ppm concentration. Among all the tested botanicals Heena (Lawsonia inermis) was found to be most effective in inhibiting mycelial growth (71.11%) at 10% concentration. Lemon tulsi oil was found best in inhibiting mycelial growth (71.30%) of Exserohilum turcicum, among all the tested essential oils at 50ppm concentration. Fungicides, plant extracts and essential oils showing good results under in vitro conditions were tested under glasshouse conditions. Foliar spray of Propiconazole 25%[email protected]% showed reduced disease incidence (23.33%) compared to control (46.33%). Application of 5% of Heena extracts reduced the disease incidence (26.67%). Plants when sprayed with Lemon tulsi oil showed reduced disease incidence (24.17%). The study reveals that not only the fungicides but also the natural plant extracts can greatly contribute to reduce the incidence of disease because of the antifungal compounds present in plants.&nbsp

    Knowledge, attitude and practice of pharmacovigilance among medical students

    Background: Spontaneous voluntary adverse drug reaction (ADR) reporting is the backbone for the successful functioning of the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India. The aim of pharmacovigilance is to ensure safe and rational use of medicines, once they are released for general use in the society. Targeting the younger doctor for sensitization toward pharmacovigilance is the key to ensure practice of adverse drug reactions (ADR) reporting in clinical practice. The objectives of this study are to evaluate the knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) of pharmacovigilance among medical students at LLRM Medical College, Meerut, a tertiary care teaching hospital. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out using a pretested questionnaire. The questionnaire was designed to assess the KAP regarding pharmacovigilance. The medical students (2nd year, final year, and interns) were included in the study. Only the participants who gave their consent were included in the study. Results were calculated by proper statistical analysis. Results: The current study was conducted in a LLRM Medical College, Meerut, which included a total of 250 medical students of which 40% 2nd year, 40% final year students, and 20% interns. Most of them (83%) accepted that reporting ADR is necessary, and pharmacovigilance should be taught in detail to health-care professionals. Conclusions: This study demonstrated that knowledge of pharmacovigilance among medical students is improving gradually and pharmacovigilance and ADR reporting needs to be made compulsory, have better, interesting ways to learn and understand it, so that the students can practice it with confidence in their clinical practice

    Dawn singing behavior of a tropical bird species, the Pied Bush Chat Saxicola caprata

    This paper aims to study the structure and pattern of dawn song in a tropical avian species, the Pied Bush Chat (Saxicola caprata) in Haridwar (290 55’ N, 780 08’ E; Uttarakhand, India) in 2009. Males delivered complex dawn chorus on daily basis during only breeding season (February to July). The dawn song bout was made up of a number of distinct sections called song types. Each song type consisted of a series of similar or dissimilar units referred to as elements. Song type length averaged 1.43±0.23 sec and did not differ significantly among males. Theaverage number and types of elements in a song type were observed 8.15±1.64 and 8.01±1.56, respectively.In more than 80% of observations, song types were delivered with immediate variety and males did not follow any definite sequential pattern of song delivery. Males sang continuously for about 30 min at high rates during dawn. Males performed continuous dawn singing throughout the breeding season and seemed to interact vocally through counter-singing for extended period. Observations suggest that dawn song delivery in Pied Bush Chat plays an important role in maintenance and adjustment of social relationship among neighbouring males

    Knowledge attitude and practice of medical personnel on ecopharmacology

    Background: Increasing disease incidence and prevalence has led to tremendous increase in the use of medications. The consumers are not able to use all the dispensed medications because of various reasons. The improper disposal of these unused medicines has led to environmental contamination to an alarming extent. The present study aims to assess the knowledge, attitude and practice of medical personnel about disposal of unused medicines.Methods: The study was conducted on post graduate medical students, MBBS and nursing students of a tertiary care hospital of North India. It was cross sectional, descriptive study based on a structured questionnaire to assess the knowledge, attitude and practice about the disposition of left-over medications. Descriptive statistical analysis of the results was done.Results: Stockpiling was reported by 100% of the students. The most common reason for stockpiling was excess purchase of medicines (41%). The most commonly procured medicine was NSAID (55.9%). The most common method of disposal was with household waste (69%). Majority of the respondents answered that take back programmes and government interference is the solution to this problem.Conclusions: Majority of the people are having unused medicines at home and most commonly they dispose it by throwing along with rubbish. Lack of knowledge regarding proper disposal is the main reason behind this. Initiatives should be taken to spread awareness regarding proper disposal methods of unused medicines

    Application of bond energy model for different nanomaterials

    A simple theory has been developed using bond energy model of nanomaterials. The formulation has been obtained for the size and shape dependence of specific heat and conductivity. We have computed the size dependence of specific heat of Ag and Au nanoparticles. The results obtained have been compared with the available experimental data as well as with the earlier theoretical relation. It has been found that specific heat increases by decreasing the particle size. There is an appreciable improvement in the results as compared with the earlier relation and a good agreement with the available simulation data. We extend the model to study the effect of shape for the size dependence of specific heat and thermal conductivity of different nanomaterials. The results obtained have been discussed in the light of earlier investigations as well as experimental data. A good agreement between theory and experiment demonstrates the suitability of the formulation has been developed in the present paper
