Does Belief in Human Evolution Entail Kufr (Disbelief)? Evaluating the Concerns of a Muslim Theologian

© 2020 by the Joint Publication Board of Zygon Nuh Ha Mim Keller, a contemporary Muslim theologian, argues against the compatibility of evolution and Islam. In this article we intend to critically evaluate his position in which he advances three separate arguments. First, he criticizes the science of evolution. Second, he demonstrates the metaphysical problems with naturalism and the role of chance in the enterprise of evolution. Third, he contends that evolution and the creationist narrative in Islamic scripture is irresolvable. Given these points, Keller concludes that believing in human evolution takes one outside the fold of Islam (kufr). After reviewing each of these points we argue that his claims are unwarranted because of other possibilities which Keller may have not considered. In effect, we argue that believing in evolution doesn\u27t necessarily or definitively entail kufr

El papel de las tecnologías pedagógicas modernas en la formación de la competencia comunicativa de los estudiantes

The article deals with the issues related to developing communicative competence of future English teachers. It considers the notion that developing communicative competence can benefit not only to the interactive competences of the learner from the educational point of view, but also psycho-emotional characteristics and socio-cultural development of a student as a person.  As we know, communicative competence is the ability that means interacting effectively with others and competence is understood as a combination of language skills an individual has for learning a foreign language. Such potential contributes to his/her attaining high levels of performance. This paper reflects the following: the theory of communicative competence and some of its models; the importance of developing communicative competence of students who are future English teachers and the implications of communicative competence in English language teaching and learning. Furthermore, the work suggests the basic methodic principles of developing communicative competence of future English teachers.El artículo aborda los temas relacionados con el desarrollo de la competencia comunicativa de los futuros profesores de inglés. Considera la noción de que el desarrollo de la competencia comunicativa puede beneficiar no solo a las competencias interactivas del alumno desde el punto de vista educativo, sino también a las características psicoemocionales y al desarrollo sociocultural de un estudiante como persona. Como sabemos, la competencia comunicativa es la habilidad que significa interactuar efectivamente con otros y la competencia se entiende como una combinación de habilidades lingüísticas que un individuo tiene para aprender un idioma extranjero. Tal potencial contribuye a que logre altos niveles de rendimiento. Este artículo refleja lo siguiente: la teoría de la competencia comunicativa y algunos de sus modelos; La importancia de desarrollar la competencia comunicativa de los estudiantes que son futuros profesores de inglés y las implicaciones de la competencia comunicativa en la enseñanza y el aprendizaje del idioma inglés. "НАТАЛКА-ПОЛТАВКА" М. ЛИСЕНКА ТА "НАЗАР СТОДОЛЯ" К. ДАНЬКЕВИЧА В КОНТЕКСТІ ВОКАЛЬНИХ ТРАДИЦІЙ ОДЕСИ

Purpose of the article is a separation in named opera N. Lysenko and K. Dankevich, which in one or another measure gravitate to balladry, a sign of аcаdеmic operatic style, removing on dramaturgy duality in joining to аctuality in modern production devil epic theatre. Methodology. The methodological base is connected with an intonation approach of the school B. Asafiev in aspect style comparison, hermeneutic analysis of vоcаl composition for the sake of the modern vision of ideas in performances-interpreting the works of national classicists. Scientific novelty of the study consists in the independence of the creative approach which stands on boundary public ballad operas and academic sphere. They frankly to diffuse in the performance of "post-pо stvаnguard" being of music contemporaneity, bring forth exceptional requirements to entailment of the national classical heritage. Conclusions. The production of the operas by М. Lysenko and K.Dankevich in discovery vоcаl-operatic fullness of the music expression confirms the national idea in greatness of the intellectual entailments to operatic tradition, which has declared the wealth of artistic importance of the music and possibility of the join them with way favorite, including epic theatre for the sake of quasi-mystery joining to national tradition to general line of the artistic development XXI century.Целью работы является выделение в названных операх Н. Лысенко и К. Данькевича, которые в той или иной мере тяготеют к народной балладной опере, признаков академического оперного стиля, выводящего на драматургическую двоичность в приобщении к актуализированным в современных постановках чертам эпическо-го театра. Методологическая основа – интонационный подход школы Б. Асафьева в аспекте стилевого компа-ратива, герменевтического анализа вокальных композиций ради выделения современного видения идей испол-нения-интерпретации произведений национальной классики. Научная новизна исследования состоит в самостоятельности творческого подхода, сформированного академической вокальной традицией Одессы отно-сительно произведений, которые стоят на рубеже народной балладной оперы и академической сферы. Они отк-ровенно диффундируют в представлениях "пост-поставангардного" бытия музыкальной современности, выдви-гая неординарные требования к воплощению национального классического наследия. Выводы. Исполнение опер Н. Лысенко и К .Данькевича в выявлении вокально-оперной полноты музыкального выражения утверждает национальную идею в величии интеллектуальных воплощений оперной традиции, которая заявила богатство художественного значения музыки и возможности соединения их со способами популярного, в том числе эпичес-кого театра, ради quasi-мистериального приобщения национальной традиции к генеральным линиям художест-венного развития ХХІ века.Метою статті є виділення в названих операх М. Лисенка і К. Данькевича, що в тій чи іншій мірі тяжіють до народної баладної опери, ознак академічного оперного стилю, що виводить на драматургічну подвійність у залу-ченні до актуалізованих у сучасних постановках рис епічного театру. Методологічна основа – інтонаційний під-хід школи Б. Асафьєва в аспекті стильової компаративістики, герменевтичного аналізу вокальних композицій за-ради виділення сучасного бачення ідей виконання-інтерпретації творів національної класики. Наукова новизна дослідження полягає в самостійності творчого підходу, сформованого академічною вокальною традицією Одеси відносно творів, що стоять на межі народної баладної опери та академічної сфери. Вони відверто дифундують у виставах "пост-поставангардного" буття музичного сьогодення, висуваючи неординарні вимоги до втілення націо-нальної класичної спадщини. Висновок. Виконання опер М. Accepting Evolution Entails Kufr ?: A Critical Appraisal of Nuh Ha Mim Keller’s Fatwa

Muslim scholars who oppose the compatibility of Islam and evolution usually advance three kinds of arguments: scientific, metaphysic, and hermeneutic. This paper will examine the position of Nuh Ha Mim Keller, a prominent Sunni scholar who employ these three lines of arguments and proposes that believing in human evolution entails kufr. In this article we will critically analyze Keller’s understanding of the science of evolution in which he claims that the theory of evolution is not robust. We argue that through the consilience of induction, evolution is the best explanation for the biological origins and diversity. We also argue that a more nuanced understanding of the metaphysical and hermeneutical aspects of Islam and evolution debate would reveal that Keller’s anti-evolution claims are unwarranted, including his accusation of kufr against those who accept human evolution

Изучение транслингвального художественного текста в поликультурной аудитории

This article offers a technique for working with translingual literature in a multilingual audience. The object of analysis - Russophon text - is considered as a meeting place for languages and cultures, the elements of which can be explicated in the presence of the necessary background knowledge. The author cites as an example a joint reading with the students of the novel cycle of the famous Kazakhstan writer A. Zhaksylykov - a multi-level artistic whole that can be deciphered adequately only within the framework of the translingual approach. The purpose of the article is to help specialists choose a methodology for interpreting the text in which the analysis could become productive.Настоящая статья предлагает методику работы с транслингвальным художественным текстом в многоязычной аудитории. Объект анализа - русофонный текст - рассматривается как место встречи языков и культур, элементы которых могут быть эксплицированы при наличии необходимых фоновых знаний. Автор приводит в качестве примера совместное со студентами прочтение романного цикла известного казахстанского писателя А. Жаксылыкова - многоуровневое по проблематике и центральном конфликте художественное целое, которое может быть дешифровано адекватно лишь в рамках транслингвального подхода. Цель статьи - помочь специалистам подобрать такую методику интерпретации текста, при которой анализ смог бы стать продуктивным

Развитие переводческого дела в Центральной Азии: опыт Казахстана

This paper is a continuation of articles’ series devoted to understanding and describing the science of translation in the Central Asian region. Our previous work “From the History of Translation Activity in Central Asia (XVI-XIX)” covered the formation of a translation in Kazakhstan from the XVI to the XIX and early XX centuries. The project is still open. It is aimed at studying the history of translation, reproduction of “lost knowledge” and does not lose its relevance due to the special attention of postSoviet Turkic-speaking states to translation activities.Настоящая статья является продолжением серии статей, посвященных осмыслению и описанию переводческой деятельности в Центрально-Азиатском регионе. Simulación numérica del tratamiento térmico de un puré de frutas y subproductos infravalorados de Piura

En este estudio se simuló numéricamente el tratamiento térmico de un puré de frutas y subproductos infravalorados de Piura. Primero, se determinó mediante la prueba de distribución de calor que la zona inferior del autoclave es la de más lento calentamiento, al mostrar un índice de velocidad de calentamiento (fh = 29,8841 min) más alto. Se preparó un puré de pulpa de banano, pulpa y cáscara de mango ciruelo, y pulpa y cáscara de mango Kent. El centro geométrico del envase cilíndrico de vidrio se estableció como punto de más lento calentamiento durante la pasteurización. No hubo diferencias en el valor de letalidad (P), pero sí en el factor de retraso de calentamiento (jh, Δ = 2,17) y en el valor fh (Δ = 16,79 min) respecto al estudio experimental y a la simulación de la transferencia de calor por conducción mediante el método de elementos finitos. Al comparar los datos experimentales y predichos, se obtuvieron valores R2 cercanos al 1, además de un valor de la raíz del error cuadrático medio de 2,5597 ºC. Asimismo, ambos conjuntos de datos no tuvieron diferencias significativas (p > 0,05). Por último, hubo diferencias significativas (p < 0,05) respecto al color característico, consistencia, olor característico y gusto por el sabor de las muestras de puré tratadas con distintas condiciones de pasteurización. Todas las muestras fueron bien aceptadas, pero la muestra tratada con la temperatura más alta y por un tiempo menor obtuvo un mayor puntaje.Tesi
