Demand for large freighter aircraft as projected by the NASA cargo/logistics airlift system studies
The market conditions are examined up through the year 2008 to provide a preliminary assessment of the potential for and the characteristics of an advanced, all-cargo transport aircraft. Any new freighter must compete with current wide-body aircraft and their derivatives. Aircraft larger than the wide-bodies may incur economic penalties and operational problems. A lower direct operating cost is not a sufficient criterion to base a decision for the initiation of a new aircraft development or to select aircraft characteristics. Other factors of equal importance that are reviewed in this paper include considerations of the system infrastructure, the economics of the airlines, and the aircraft manufacturer return on investment. The results of the market forecast and a computer simulation show that an advanced long range aircraft with a payload between 68 to 181 tonnes (75 to 200 tons) could generate a solid foothold beginning around 1994

Findings and conclusions derived during the study of freighter aircraft requirements to the year 2008 are summarized. These results represent the stepping off point for the much needed coordinated planning efforts by government agencies, the airlines, the users, and the aircraft manufacturers. The methodology utilized in the investigations is shown. The analysis of the current system encompassed evaluations of the past and current cargo markets and on sight surveys of airport and cargo terminals. The findings that resulted provided the basis for formulating the case study procedures, developing the future scenario, and developing the future cargo market demand

Corn and Millet Silage for Fattening Cattle
Summary1. A choice silage was secured from corn when cut at time of tasseling and also from millet when about 90 percent of grain was ripe. 2. The steers that received shelled corn, oilmeal, and hay did not bring enough more on the market over the lot that received corn silage and oilmeal to justify the feeding of this comparatively expensive ration. 3. The best gains were secured in feeding silage made from White Dent corn, medium sized variety that matures ears before frost. This variety has been used at this station for several years and results secured in each experiment have been extra good; hence, we recommend this as a suitable variety to grow for the cattle feeder.4. Results indicate that as an emergency crop corn is superior to millet when both are made into silage.5. The results from feeding silage made of Rainbow Flint corn were practically as good as results from feeding silage made from the dent varieties; but the yield of flint was larger per acre and in sections with short growing seasons it might be advisable to grow this kind in preference to the dent varieties
Social Value Orientation, Expectations, and Cooperation in Social Dilemmas:A Meta-analysis
Interdependent situations are pervasive in human life. In these situations, it is essential to form expectations
about the others’ behaviour to adapt one’s own behaviour to increase mutual outcomes and avoid exploitation. Social
value orientation, which describes the dispositional weights individuals attach to their own and to another person’s
outcome, predicts these expectations of cooperation in social dilemmas—an interdependent situation involving a
conflict of interests. Yet, scientific evidence is inconclusive about the exact differences in expectations between
prosocials, individualists, and competitors. The present meta-analytic results show that, relative to proselfs (individualists
and competitors), prosocials expect more cooperation from others in social dilemmas, whereas individualists
and competitors do not significantly differ in their expectations. The importance of these expectations in the decision
process is further highlighted by the finding that they partially mediate the well-established relation between social
value orientation and cooperative behaviour in social dilemmas. In fact, even proselfs are more likely to cooperate
when they expect their partner to cooperate
