The Power of Positivity in the #ConserveWater Movement on Twitter

    Get PDF
This poster looks into how authors on social media uses rhetoric to affect the perception and promotion of the #conservewater movement. This study used content analysis and analyzed 100 tweets from the 2018 year looking at who the author of each tweet was, what the tone of the tweet was, the function of the tweet, if there were any attachments and more. The findings gathered were overwhelmingly positive

Even tiers and resonances on the Real Projective Plane

In this work we focus on various phenomenological aspects of the lightest even tiers, (2,0) and (0,2), in models based on a Real Projective Plane in 6 dimensions. We discuss the spectrum of the levels due to loop corrections, and the limit when the two radii are equal, in which case the two levels mix with each other and a new basis is defined. We also discuss the dependence of the spectrum on the ratio of the two radii. These results are essential to understand the phenomenology of the model at colliders (LHC) and to predict the relic abundance of Dark Matter. Finally, we estimate the bounds on the radius from resonant decays of the even tiers at the LHC, showing that they can be in the 600 GeV range after the complete analysis of the 2011 data.Comment: 43 pages, 10 figure

Health Insurance Coverage and the Disability Insurance Application Decision

We investigate the effect of health insurance coverage on the decision of individuals to apply for Disability Insurance (DI). Those who qualify for DI receive public insurance under Medicare, but only after a two-year waiting period. This raises concerns that many disabled are going uninsured while they wait for their Medicare coverage. Moreover, the combination of this waiting period and the uncertainty about application acceptance may deter those with health insurance on their jobs, but no alternative source of coverage, from leaving work to apply for DI. Data from the Health and Retirement Survey show that, in fact, uninsurance does not rise during the waiting period for DI benefits; reductions in own employer coverage are small, and are offset by increases in other sources of insurance. Correspondingly, we find that imperfect insurance coverage does deter DI application. Those who have an alternative source of insurance coverage (coverage from a spouse's employer or retiree coverage), are 26 to 74% more likely to apply for DI than those without such an alternative. Thus, limiting this waiting period would not increase the insurance coverage of the disabled in the U.S., but it would significantly increase applications to the DI program.

The Bachelor thesis contains a brief introduction to heat pumps problems and analyses a principle of their operation. In this thesis there is further mentioned partition and characteristics of compressors, heat exchangers and refrigerants. In the thesis there are described heat pump types, which are: air–water, water–water and ground–water, including advantages and disadvantages and conditions of realization. The last part of the thesis deals with calculation of investment in the case of using heat pump for hot service water heating and its analysis.
