On preheating in alpha-attractor models of inflation

We study (p)reheating in alpha-attractor T-models of inflation, taking into account both scalar fields present in these models: the inflaton and the spectator. The two-field model has a negative field-space curvature which, at the end of inflation, may lead to geometrical destabilization of the spectator for small values of alpha<~10^(-3). We perform the instability (Floquet) analysis of the linear dynamics and a fully non-linear lattice computations with our numerical code, which we specifically designed for a class of two-field models with non-canonical kinetic terms. We find that the perturbations of the spectator field are much more unstable than the perturbations of the inflaton field, so the dynamics of the early stages of preheating is dominated by the evolution of the spectator perturbations. As a result, the transition from the inflationary era to radiation domination era is practically instantaneous and much faster than previously found in an effective theory including only the inflaton field.Comment: extended numerical simulations, references added, matches published versio

Jak zauważył to już ponad dziesięć lat temu G.Kaiser „pomimo powszechnego dzisiaj zaliczania przepisów prawa karnego dotyczących środków odurzających do tzw. pozakodeksowego prawa karnego (Nebenstrafrecht), stanowią one, tak ze względu na wysokość przewidzianych w nich sankcji karnych, jak i częstotliwość ich stosowania w praktyce, jeden z podstawowych problemów współczesnej polityki karnej”1. Abstrahując w tym miejscu od nasilającej się od wielu lat dyskusji na temat racji i sensu posługiwania się prawem karnym dla rozwiązywania problemów, jakie we współczesnych społeczeństwach stwarzają środki odurzające i substancje psychotropowe2, sformułowanie powyższe stwierdza dwa fakty. Przede wszystkim przestępstwa stanowiące naruszenia przepisów prohibicji zakazujących wszelkich - poza uzasadnionymi względami ściśle medycznymi - form obrotu środkami odurzającymi i substancjami psychotropowymi oraz ich posiadania (czyli tzw. „przestępstwa prohibicyjne”, tworzące wraz z przestępstwami pospolitymi popełnianymi przez osoby będące użytkownikami narkotyków - czy to pod bezpośrednim ich wpływem, czy dla ich zdobycia - kategorię przestępstw, którą określić można mianem przestępczości narkotykowej3) stanowią dzisiaj z czysto ilościowego punktu widzenia niezwykle istotny problem dla organów ścigania i wymiaru sprawiedliwości w większości demokracji zachodnich[...

Different penal climates in Europe

The European ‘penal climate’ is defined by consistent patterns of difference in penal policies that are well known and well documented. One such pattern involves differences between ‘old’ EU member states in Western Europe and ‘new’ EU member states, in Central and Eastern Europe. The two above zones of European ‘penal climate’ differ not only in the severity of sanctions imposed (as measured by imprisonment rate, average length of prison sentences, and average time spent in prison), but also in other characteristics of sentencing patterns, including types of sanctions used and their structure. This paper presents selected statistical data regarding differences in penal policies implemented in Western and Central and Eastern Europe, compared with the police data on registered offences. Determination of Fungitoxic Value of Preservatives in Laboratory Wood-Block Tests

Laboratory-modified agar-block tests were made to determine the fungitoxic value of the wood preservative CCA against the test fungus Serpula lacrymans. The procedure applied to determine the results accounted for different standards: EN (toxic limit), ASTM (threshold retention), GOST (threshold retention and protection probability), PN (toxic dose), and JIS (value of efficiency). Measurement of Rotational Events in Regions Prone to Seismicity: A Review

On the basis of the explanation of rotational seismology as an area of study, a modern approach to the seismic rotation in various continuum models is summarized. The aim of this chapter is to formulate the fundamental requirements for rotational seismometer. Consequently, a review of all existing technologies of rotational seismometers including mechanical, electrochemical, magnetohydrodynamical, as well as optical type solutions is discussed. The analysis of their parameters that considers technical requirements enforced by rotational seismology has indicated an optical instrument using a Sagnac interferometer as the best solution. Fibre-Optic System for Rotational Events & phenomena Monitoring (FOSREM) with its main parameters and features is described as an example of such solution. Moreover, the example of rotational events recorded in Książ observatory, Poland, using mechanical rotational seismometers and FOSREM is presented. There are data for M = 3.8 earthquake near Jarocin, Poland on the 2012.01.06 at 15:37:56 at a distance of about 200 km from Książ. Although the used devices have totally different designs, the results obtained using FOSREM and the results calculated by mechanical devices show compatibility in rotational signals
