The uniqueness of the 29th World Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk is that all the sports grounds will be located within the city. One of them is the territory of the Siberian Federal University, which will house the Athletic Village and the volunteers’ residence. The facilities that are being built on this territory will later frm a student environment. A common natural framework between the facilities and the city is created with the help of a continuous chain of parks and gardens. The student boulevard will link two grounds, while running through the birchwood along the paths already made by people. The project approach implies searching for a code of the Krasnoyarsk architecture. According to the reconstruction project, the age-old pines will be preserved, new pines will be planted, and the view to the mountains will be open.

The article describes the issue of religious terms illustrated in academic explanatory dictionaries of the 20th and 21st centuries. The author gives examples of the improper use of terms in the dictionary entry’s illustrations (exemplified in the words ‘batyushka’ and ‘matushka’). The article shows the way of solving this problem supporting it with the articles from “The Russian Dictionary of the 21st century”. The illustrations in these explanatory articles demonstrate the use of terms in the discourse and extend the explanation with the description of the subject being explained

Contemporary instability of the global economy and the consequences of COVID-19 determine the search for new ways to ensure sustainable economic and financial development of any country. This is especially important for developing countries, BRICS in particular. One of the ways of meeting new challenges is to strengthen cooperation between partners, so the paper examines the BRICS countries’ investment policy, seeking to identify new areas of cooperation where harmonious investment could be most beneficial. The research uses comparative, logical, statistical and structural analysis with graphic visualization and interpretation of the obtained results. The authors have been first to identify contemporary investment opportunities for further cooperation within BRICS and to reveal their features in various areas, such as regulation, taxation, labor legislation, infrastructure development. The authors emphasize the necessity of the BRICS member countries’ investment co-operation in reaching the goals of sustainable development and outline the priority areas of investment showing that the BRICS should grant preferential treatment to strategic investments. The paper points out the need to expand the use of national currencies in dealing with green and infrastructure bonds issued to support the national economies and calls for increased participation of BRICS development banks and institutional investors of all forms of ownership in the processes of partnership cooperation

The article is dedicated to comprehension the process of technological education in relation to E-learning. The relevance of the study is determined by the situation connected with the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, which required various educational organizations complete transition to distance learning for an indefinite period. It is noted that various educational technologies have been gaining new implementations in the conditions of distance education. The trend towards the gradual rejection of traditional (explanatory and illustrative) teaching methods and the transition to innovative technologies that were being operated within the educational system over the past decades has undergone changes due to the widespread transition to distance learning. Traditional technology, which structure includes elements of interactivity and innovation, has proven its effectiveness in the circumstances of E-learning. The least effective ones, based on the authors’ university teaching experience were training and game technologies. The technology of developing training can be effective if a teacher meets a number of conditions, depends on methods, means, and others learning technologies. Project technology, heuristic learning, problem – based learning, case-study technology, and differentiated learning proved to be the most effective ones. It is noted that the effectiveness of technologies application in the process of distance learning largely depends on a’s teacher professionalism and creative approach. The conclusion is made about the dynamism of the educational technologies system, its dependence on the conditions of training and the rapid development of educational technologies in response to conditions changes

Environmental aspects of molecular composition of humic acids isolated from lake sediments of a permafrost-affected area of the Arctic

    No full text
Humic substances are ubiquitous in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. Humic acids (HAs) actively interact with organic and inorganic components of lake sediments. This interaction depends on the molecular structure and elemental composition of HAs. The presented research focuses on the investigation of the composition and molecular structure of humic acids isolated from lakes located in the Lena Delta in the Russian Arctic. The findings of the research are needed to estimate the potential capacity of humic acids to bind microelements, particularly toxic metals, in stable compounds. Surface sediment samples (0–10 cm) were collected from 8 lakes by Van Veen grab during the summer period of the “Expedition LENA 2019”. We analyzed elemental composition of the HAs samples. The results showed that the studied HAs of lake sediments are characterized by low nitrogen content and prevalence of aliphatic fragments in their molecular structure. Furthermore, it was found that the studied humic acids are less mature, showing mineralization processes dominant over humification, and have relatively low potential to complexation compared with soils of the Lena Delta as well as lake sediments of territories with more boreal climate conditions

The screening of large numbers of compounds or siRNAs is a mainstay of both academic and pharmaceutical research. Most screens test those interventions against a single biochemical or cellular output whereas recording multiple complementary outputs may be more biologically relevant. High throughput, multi-channel fluorescence microscopy permits multiple outputs to be quantified in specific cellular subcompartments. However, the number of distinct fluorescent outputs available remains limited. Here, we describe a cellular bar-code technology in which multiple cell-based assays are combined in one well after which each assay is distinguished by fluorescence microscopy. The technology uses the unique fluorescent properties of assay-specific markers comprised of distinct combinations of different 'red' fluorescent proteins sandwiched around a nuclear localization signal. The bar-code markers are excited by a common wavelength of light but distinguished ratiometrically by their differing relative fluorescence in two emission channels. Targeting the bar-code to cell nuclei enables individual cells expressing distinguishable markers to be readily separated by standard image analysis programs. We validated the method by showing that the unique responses of different cell-based assays to specific drugs are retained when three assays are co-plated and separated by the bar-code. Based upon those studies, we discuss a roadmap in which even more assays may be combined in a well. The ability to analyze multiple assays simultaneously will enable screens that better identify, characterize and distinguish hits according to multiple biologically or clinically relevant criteria. These capabilities also enable the re-creation of complex mixtures of cell types that is emerging as a central area of interest in many fields
