Synthese von Frequenzgangskompensationsnetzwerken fĂŒr integrierte Breitband-SignalverstĂ€rker
Modern communication systems are required to transmit a continuously
increasing amount of data. Therefore, weak signals have to be detected and
amplified. Today's signal amplifiers need to cover frequency ranges from
zero to several hundred MHz, i.e. multiple decades. Simultaneously, due to
high bandwidth requirement, stability of these amplifiers gets more and
more problematic in circuit design. Stability implies that an arbitrarily
stimulated amplifier is void of oscillation tendencies at its output
port.Stability is usually achieved by compensation of the circuit's
frequency response. Damping of the frequency range which tends to oscillate
is one option to assure stability. Feedback from the output to the input of
the circuit is reduced with this approach. However, the disadvantage of a
frequency-response compensated amplifier is an immensely decreased
bandwidth compared to the uncompensated circuit. The reason of this
degradation lies in the fashion of the compensation methodology.
Conventionally, the feedback loop is opened, and the frequency response is
investigated. If the criterion for instability, known from control theory,
becomes true within the frequency range of interest, the circuit is damped
until the stability condition is met. Typical applications are video-signal
amplifiers which need to provide a constant gain from 0 to several 100
MHz.Within this dissertation a methodological approach is presented which
computer-aidedly synthesizes frequency-compensation networks for
wideband-signal amplifiers. In contrast to the control-theory and open-loop
based approaches, the methodology introduced in this work is based on
eigenvalues and eigenvalue sensitivities, which are used to gain
conclusions about sophisticated compensation networks that are to be
inserted. Following, these networks are sized by means of mathematical
optimization, and, subsequently, their frequency responses are tuned with
modern circuit optimizers. The advantage of this method is that the final
circuits are designed for their particular applications, and, therefore,
bandwidths can be attained which are impossible to reach with conservative
approaches. The synthesis scheme is totally autonomous and can be used
without any expert knowledge about the circuits' properties. The
methodology is demonstrated with entire design of an industrial signal
amplifier for HDTV applications.
A new method for network redesign via rank one updates
We present a method to place the eigenvalues of an electrical network towards a prescribed set of complex numbers by inserting an additional capacitance into the network. We use recent results on rank one perturbations of regular matrix pencils and provide an upper bound on the approximation error of the eigenvalues in the chordal distance
Sub-nanoscale Temperature, Magnetic Field and Pressure sensing with Spin Centers in 2D hexagonal Boron Nitride
Spin defects in solid-state materials are strong candidate systems for
quantum information technology and sensing applications. Here we explore in
details the recently discovered negatively charged boron vacancies () in
hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) and demonstrate their use as atomic scale sensors
for temperature, magnetic fields and externally applied pressure. These
applications are possible due to the high-spin triplet ground state and bright
spin-dependent photoluminescence (PL) of the . Specifically, we find
that the frequency shift in optically detected magnetic resonance (ODMR)
measurements is not only sensitive to static magnetic fields, but also to
temperature and pressure changes which we relate to crystal lattice parameters.
Our work is important for the future use of spin-rich hBN layers as intrinsic
sensors in heterostructures of functionalized 2D materials.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figures, 2 table
