Postgraduate Students’ Individual Educational Paths: Design Principles and Implementation Conditions (on the Example of a Technical University)

    Get PDF
The article addresses the importance of introducing individual educational paths (IEP) in training research and pedagogical personnel in postgraduate studies. The idea of an individual approach of learning is enshrined in a number of documents including the Federal Law “On Education in the Russian Federation”. However, in practice, there are obstacles to the implementation of IEP: the presence of regulatory documents governing the organization of the educational process in higher education, the predominance of the group form of organizing classes, the unpreparedness of teachers for the implementation of the personalized learning model. We find it reasonable to start the implementation of IEP at the level of postgraduate training, given the relative small number of students, as well as their cognitive independence and well-developed educational skills. The design of the IEP will make it possible to better take into account the initial competencies of postgraduate students, their cognitive needs and goals in further career advancement (orientation towards teaching, research, production activities), which are largely determined by the nature and level of professional education. The article reveals the specifics of the training of research and pedagogical personnel in the postgraduate study of a technical university, identifies the factors that have an impact on the way postgraduate students build their learning trajectories, substantiates the principles of IEP design, and describes the stages of personalized learning technology. The research data on the readiness of postgraduate students to design IEP on their own are presented. The results of the survey of post graduate students and their supervisors indicate that there are sufficient grounds for the successful implementation of a personalized learning model using IEP. Postgraduate students of a technical university are well versed in information resources, actively use University’s services of the electronic educational environment. They are able to determine the goals of educational and scientific activities, assess their competencies, and analyze achievements and failures. Most of scientific advisors are ready to assist postgraduate students in IEP designing. The article analyzes the difficulties that universities may encounter when introducing a new teaching model, and substantiates the conditions for the successful implementation of IEP in postgraduate studies

TEACHER OF HIGHER SCHOOL: WHAT WILL IT BE?(Reflections on social expectations and professional realities)

    No full text
The article reveals the contradiction between the social expectations of higher school teachers and the real environment of their professional activities. On the one hand, there are new requirements for the competence of teachers, due to the tendencies of education development, and above all the rapid development of information technology. On the other hand, teachers are in the unfortunate situation caused by costs of the state educational policy (bureaucratization of universities, reduction of the staff, worsening of working conditions, increasing the load and others), as well as ineffective internal control, imbalance of interests of the administration and employees

MODERNIZATION, OPTIMIZATION, BUREAUCRATIZATION... WHAT AWAITS HIGHER SCHOOL TOMORROW?

    No full text
The article analyzes the negative trends in higher education development in the country caused by a change in the state education policy in terms of crisis, the optimization of financial costs, the intensification of the authoritarian-bureaucratic methods of educational institution management. The article adduces the results of the investigation on teachers' assessment of the modern state in higher school, the main directions of education reforms. The research touched on the issues concerning motivation and psychological climate in labor collectives in conditions of the implacable cutting down of the University network due to so called "optimization" of higher education institutions, bureaucratization of higher school activities. The author strongly argues that the continuous reforming of education system has not brought positive results, and expresses a hope in positive changes in this sphere owing to the inner capability of the pedagogical community

ГУО «Институт бизнеса Белорусского государственного университета»The paper presents a study of the impact of social networks on teenagers aged from 13 to 15 years. The study reveals some of the main ways of influencing this category of adolescents by means of social networks and information presented in them in particular. The main methods and ways of organizing an advertising campaign were studied in order to influence the adolescents of this age group. Possible areas are identified that may contribute to the development of an advertising campaign aimed at an audience of adolescents

Doctoral Programs Are in Anticipation of Change: Postgraduates and Their Scientific Supervisors’ Readiness

Nowadays a postgraduate school reform is expected. It aims at enhancing the scientific preparation of postgraduate students and increasing the number of dissertations. It is planned that the educational process will be carried out in accordance with federal state requirements, and a dissertation will be presented as the final qualification work. Also, the educational accreditation of doctoral programs is going to be cancel. The article discusses the question how far universities are ready for these innovations, and presents the results of a survey aimed at studying the attitude of postgraduate students and their supervisors to the educational process in postgraduate school. The empirical data obtained indicate that the existing model of scientific and pedagogical personnel training is more focused on the educational activities rather than research, there is a mismatch between content of training courses and cognitive needs of students, and there are no necessary material and technical conditions for conducting experimental work. The expected increase in hours for research activities can lead to a reduction in the disciplines that ensure the formation of pedagogical competencies in postgraduate students. The authors believe that pedagogical education for postgraduate students of industrial universities, including technical ones, is necessary, since teachers of special disciplines are not massively trained anywhere. The solution of the question of the optimal ratio of scientific and educational training is possible through the introduction of individual educational paths, which are built taking into account the orientation of postgraduate students towards teaching or research activities

REORGANIZATION OF HIGHER EDUCATION THROUGH THE EYES LECTURERS: STUDY RESULTS

The article shows the results of the opinion poll of university lecturers. The survey was aimed to reveal their attitude towards reorganization of higher education. There is presented the analysis of their opinion on restructurization of ineffective universities, the appearance of leading universities, implementation of level training system and competence-oriented educational standards etc. Special attention is paid to the problem of reform efficiency, and to the factors negatively influencing modernization of higher school

Modeling of the dynamics of GBB1005 Ball & Beam Educational Control System as a controlled mechanical system with a redundant coordinate

The method of research stability and stabilization of equilibrium of systems with geometrical constraints is elaborated and used for equilibrium for real mechatronic arrangement GBB1005 Ball & Beam. For mathematical model construction is used Shul'gin's equations with redundant coordinates. The through differentiation geometrical constraints obtained kinematic (holonomic) constraints is necessary add for stability analysis. Asymptotic stability equilibrium for mechanical systems with redundant coordinates is possible , in spite of formal reduction to Lyapunov's especial case, if the number zero roots is equal the number constraints . More exact nonlinear mathematical model of the mechanical component Ball &Beam is considered in this paper. One nonlinear geometric constrain in this problem is allow find the new equilibrium position. The choice of linear control subsystem is depend from the choice of redundant coordinate
