Building valoristaion strategies for biodiverse products - the approach
The market valorisation of ‘diverse food products’ is crucial to increase diversity in farming systems. It involves multiple actors, from the field to the table, and requires an integrated approach to take into account several dimensions involved
Building Valorisation Strategies for Biodiverse Products - Case Studies
The market valorisation of ‘diverse food products’ is crucial to promote agrobiodiversity. Despite the differences due to the specific contexts, valorisation strategies show relevant common features
Thin accretion disks around neutron and quark stars
The possibility of observationally discriminating between various types of
neutron stars, described by different equations of state of the nuclear matter,
as well as differentiating neutron stars from other types of exotic objects,
like, for example, quark stars, is one of the fundamental problems in
contemporary astrophysics. We consider and investigate carefully the
possibility that different types of rapidly rotating neutron stars, as well as
other type of compact general relativistic objects, can be differentiated from
the study of the emission properties of the accretion disks around them. We
obtain the energy flux, the temperature distribution and the emission spectrum
from the accretion disks around several classes of rapidly rotating neutron
stars, described by different equations of state of the neutron matter, and for
quark stars, described by the MIT bag model equation of state and in the CFL
(Color-Flavor-Locked) phase, respectively. Particular signatures appear in the
electromagnetic spectrum, thus leading to the possibility of directly testing
the equation of state of the dense matter by using astrophysical observations
of the emission spectra from accretion disks.Comment: 11 pages, accepted for publication in Astron. Astrophy
Concrete Semantics with Coq and CoqHammer
The "Concrete Semantics" book gives an introduction to imperative programming
languages accompanied by an Isabelle/HOL formalization. In this paper we
discuss a re-formalization of the book using the Coq proof assistant. In order
to achieve a similar brevity of the formal text we extensively use CoqHammer,
as well as Coq Ltac-level automation. We compare the formalization efficiency,
compactness, and the readability of the proof scripts originating from a Coq
re-formalization of two chapters from the book
Deviation from the Fourier law in room-temperature heat pulse experiments
We report heat pulse experiments at room temperature that cannot be described
by Fourier's law. The experimental data is modelled properly by the
Guyer--Krumhansl equation, in its over-diffusion regime. The phenomenon is due
to conduction channels with differing conductivities, and parallel to the
direction of the heat flux.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figure
