Innovations of the Beginning of the Sixth Millennium BC in the Northern Pontic Steppe

    Get PDF
This study focuses on the pottery-bearing ("Neolithic") sites of the northern Azov Sea region. The vessels ornamented with comb imprints appeared there in the sixth millennium BC. In the light of a recent re-dating of the Rakushechny Yar site sequence, the sites of the northern Azov region appeared to be the earliest evidence for this innovation. The innovation in the ceramic assemblage is accompanied by an innovative lithic tool set. The latter included macro-blades and fan-shaped end-scrapers, which were previously unknown in the studied region. Their reanalysis (including new field work at the single-layer site of Chapaevka) helped formulate a hypothesis of maritime transmission of comb-ornamented ceramics in the Black and Azov Sea. This hypothesis will stimulate further discussions regarding the ways of Neolithization in Eastern Europe. It underlines the connections between Balkan "classic"Neolithic and pottery-bearing sites of the Ukrainian Steppe. The impressed ware from Makri and other mainland Greek sites is treated as the closest analogy to the finds of the northern Azov Sea region

Hydrothermal synthesis of zeolites from coal fly ash

    Get PDF
The fly ash, from the combustion of coal to produce energy and heat, is an industrial waste, in which large accumulations represent a serious environmental threat. To reduce the environmental burden and improve the economic benefits of energy production, the science and industry focus on the transformation of coal combustion byproducts into new functional materials. The fly ash was studied by modern analytical methods. As a result of the hydrothermal reaction, several types of zeolites were synthesised from the fly ash: analcime, faujasite (zeolite X) and gismondine (zeolite P). It was shown that the experimental conditions (temperature, reaction time and alkali concentration) have a significant influence on the type of zeolite and its content in the reaction products. The series of experiments resulted in building approximate crystallisation field of zeolites and other phases as the first stage of the formation of ceramic membrane and other materials

Criteria of Legitimate Restriction of Ownership during Property Arrest in Criminal Proceedings in the Light of Practice of the ECHR

The article deals with the topical questions for modern law-enforcement practice, which are connected with determining the lawfulness of the state’s interference into the right to peaceful possession of property in criminal proceedings while applying such a measure to ensure criminal proceedings as seizure of property. It is noted the important role of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, Article 1 of Protocol No. 1 to the Convention, which sets out the criteria of assessing the lawfulness of interference in the property rights. The authors analyze in detail these criteria – legitimacy, legitimate purpose, necessity in a democratic society. This analysis is made on the extensive use of the case law of the European Court of Human Rights. It is highlighted, that the development of the criteria of the legitimate restriction of the persons’ rights in criminal proceedings is urgent, because during arresting the property the legislator demands from the legislative judges to take into account among others the reasonableness and proportionality of restraint of property rights in the criminal proceedings and to apply the least burdensome way of arrest, which will not result in the restraint of lawful entrepreneurship of a person or other consequences which have the significant effect on the interests of others. On the basis of generalization of the practice of giving the rulings by the investigative judges on satisfaction or dismissal a satisfaction of the motion of the investigator, prosecutor about seizure of property, it is concluded that national courts gradually accept the novelties and requirements of the law and practice of the ECHR, but most often during deciding the motion of the investigator in the declaration of the ruling the standard argumentation of the general nature is used, the general content of the articles of the CPC is quoted without attempts to analyze the legality of the restriction, the purpose of such restriction, the proportionality of the interference of the state in the rights of a person, which corresponds the purpose. Meantime, it is important to have a proper systematic, logical, consistent argumentation, which, as a rule, is lacking in the rulings. The article develops and proposes a model of logical argumentation, following which the investigative judges will be able to formulate correctly the declaration of the ruling on satisfaction or dismissal a satisfaction of the motion to seizure of property. The authors emphasize that the legitimacy of the purpose of seizure of property is established basing on the requirements of the law. A measure which is objectively necessary in the presence of certain grounds and conditions is reasonable. Suitable is a mean by which the desired aim can be achieved. The measure is necessary, if there is no other, equally suitable but less burdensome for a person, and just it is necessary for solving an urgent social problem. Proportional may be the measure, using which the encumbrance that will be imposed on a person, taking into account all the circumstances and risks, will be proportionate to the aim, which may be achieved during applying this restriction. At the final stage, an assessment is made whether the desired result, taking into account all the analyzed conditions, is commensurate with the restriction of a person’s right to a peaceful possession of property. In the view of the authors, the proposed model of argumentation is universal, capable during deciding the question of arresting of property to restrict the discretion of the law enforcer, to protect a person from arbitrariness of public authorities, as well as to become a methodological basis for making a criminal procedural decision

Verifying the chronology of Ukrainian Neolithic

    Get PDF
This paper addresses the earliest Neolithic phases in Ukraine: aspects relating to the chronology, methods and time of Neolithisation. In general, the earliest Neolithisation relates to the times of the Linear Pottery culture. Nevertheless, Ukraine has numerous eco-zones so the process could have been different in other zones. The authors emphasize that the key to getting closer to solving this problem is the chronology-re-dating and validation program. Hitherto dates of one culture or period of culture have been treated against each other. This article presents a small series of AMS from well-defined contexts of four sites, previously dated by the Kyiv radiocarbon facility. The results are compared with existing dates in order to establish the validity of existing chronologies for the Neolithic of Ukraine. Obtained results allowed the authors to conclude that the Kyiv dates should not be obligatorily treated as wrong. Furthermore, the authors reopened the discussion to establish what was the role of LBK and Azov-Dnieper culture communities in spreading farming and herding in Ukraine during the second half of the VIth millennium BC

The background of the researched problem is determined by the psychological and pedagogical science’s and practice’s need to supplement the ideas about teachers’ professional development and about the course of their getting through the emotional experience due to difficulties of this process; as a result, it is necessary to study psychological foundations of building of psychological support programs in the process of school teachers’ getting through a professional crisis under conditions of permanent changes in the educational system. The main approach to studying this problem is the interview and phenomenological method that allows to identify and justify psychological basis of building of teacher support programs. The theoretical analysis allows to identify the nature of the support process, its goals and objectives, and to justify the methodological basis of the support program realization. The empiric results demonstrated that the process of teachers getting through the professional identity crisis goes hand in hand with the value-semantic transformation of a person and with “launching” of reflexive processes which, in turn, justifies resorting to them as to the psychological basis of building of teacher support programs. The research results expand the understanding of the nature of professional identity crisis phenomenon, the process of coming through it and supplement the data of the basis of building of teacher support programs. © 2018 by the authors

Specifics of defense and coping behavior among teachers experiencing a professional identity crisis

The issues addressed in the article are of particular relevance due to the necessity to provide research background for creating the system of psychological and pedagogical support for the professional development of teachers in the conditions of permanent changes in the system of education. The aim of the article is to describe specific interrelations between the reflection and the parameters of the teacher's axiological sphere (in particular, life-purpose orientations). The following research methods were used: theoretical analysis of psycholog-ical and educational literature, phenomenological method, questionnaires, and methods of mathematical and statistical data processing (descriptive statistics, comparative analysis (the Mann-Whitney U test). The results of the theoretical and empirical research provide ade-quate grounds for the conclusion that there is a definite interrelation between the parameters of reflection and the parameters of life-purpose orientations. It is proved that in the conditions of a professional identity crisis the teachers experience a significant reduction in the levels of life-purpose orientations, which in turn leads to intensification of reflection processes. At the same time, the obtained results suggest that the teachers can successfully overcome their professional crisis in case of formation of the cognitive component of the biographical reflection, aimed at the analysis of actions and means of understanding and organizing their life events. Implications of the research results. The research results expand our understanding of the essence and emotional experience of the professional identity crisis. They can be used in the designing the process of psychological support for the activities and professional development of teachers. © 2018 Authors

The synthesis and characterisation of tripodal ligand 1 containing 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxamide core and diethyl 4-(phenylethynyl)pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylate is described. The crystal structure of the intermediate tripodal molecule 7 exhibits an unusual staggered hydrogen-bonded chain motif instead of the anticipated helical assembly. We studied the basic photophysical properties of 1 in solvents of various polarity including CH3OH, CH3CN, DMSO, and CHCl3. The self-assembly experiments between 1 and Eu(CF3SO3)3⋅6H2O confirmed the formation of metal-ligand self-assembly species in the solution of CH3CN. It was also shown that the excitation of the Eu(III)-centred emission in such species occurred through the energy transfer from the ligand acting as an antenna to the metal centre. The binding constant values were evaluated using the nonlinear regression analysis software SPECFIT®, and their values correspond to those previously observed for the assemblies between 2,6-dipicolinic acid derivatives and lanthanide ions. This work describes the synthesis of tripodal 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxamide ligand with dipicolinic acid units and its binding with Eu(III) ions in solution. The photophysical properties of the target tripodal ligand were studied in solvents of various polarity. The self-assembly experiments between the ligand and Eu(III) ions in solution confirmed the formation of luminescent metal-ligand self-assembly species.</p
