    Tadpole cancellation in top-quark condensation

    We show that quadratic divergences in top-quark condensation are cancelled when the tadpoles cancel. This latter cancellation is naturally implemented as the cancellation among the top-quark, Goldstone and Higgs contributions. We also calculate the bosonic correction terms to Gribov's mass formula for the Higgs boson. These reduce the prediction for M_H from 167 GeV to 132 GeV. The tadpole cancellation condition by itself is an independent condition on the mass of the Higgs boson which, in Gribov's U(1)_Y scenario, yields M_H \approx 117 GeV with large theoretical uncertainty. More generally, we are able to obtain all three masses, M_W, m_t and M_H, in 100 MeV to 10 TeV energy range as a function of the cut-off scale and the gauge couplings only.Comment: 7 pages, 20 eps figures.     Single production of charged Higgs bosons at linear colliders

    We discuss single charged Higgs boson production from e+e−e^+e^- annihilation at next generation linear colliders. They can be important to study the phenomenology of charged Higgs bosons, especially when charged Higgs bosons are too heavy to be produced by the pair production mechanism. Cross sections for various single production processes are evaluated at the leading order. Our analysis shows that in some parameter regions the phenomenology of charged Higgs bosons can be explored even beyond the kinematic limit for pair production by using single production processes.Comment: Talk given by S.     The Comment insists on the following: in our model it is assumed that the effective interactions have specific energy ranges within the single band with a cutoff at \omega_1 for the phononic part and a range from \omega_1 to \omega_2 in the AF channel. Our reply is that we assume that V_i(k,k')\neq 0 if |\xi_k|<\omega_i and |\xi_{k'}|<\omega_i, and otherwise V_i(k,k')= 0 (i=1,2), as stated in our paper. This is the model of BCS type with two attractive interactions, and this assumption is the characteristic of the BCS approximation. The claim "the integration limits have been modified such that the AF channel mediated pairing sets in where the ph-channel pairing terminates and is limited at an energy given by \omega_j=\omega_{AF}" in the Comment is wrong. We describe the model and the method to solve the gap equation in more detail

    On azimuthal spin correlations in Higgs plus jet events at LHC

    We consider the recent proposal that the distribution of the difference between azimuthal angles of the two accompanying jets in gluon-fusion induced Higgs-plus-two-jet events at LHC reflects the CP of the Higgs boson produced. We point out that the hierarchy between the Higgs boson mass and the jet transverse energy makes this observable vulnerable to logarithmically enhanced higher-order perturbative corrections. We present an evolution equation that describes the scale variation of the azimuthal angular correlation for the two jets. The emission of extra partons leads to a significant suppression of the correlation. Using the HERWIG Monte Carlo event generator, we carry out a parton-shower analysis to confirm the findings.Comment: Published version. 11 pages, 4 figures, uses JHEP3.cl

    Hadron pair photoproduction within the Veneziano model

    We first suppose that low-energy hadron pair photoproduction reactions gamma(*) gamma(*) -> h h-bar are dominated by s-channel resonance contributions. Their normalization is then calculated by their correspondence with the Reggeon term in the Regge parametrization of the gamma h total cross sections. For the case of p p-bar, we make use of the measured gamma p total cross section, and for the case of K+K-, we make use of the corresponding total cross section that is estimated using Regge factorization. For hadrons that have no such data, we can only provide rough estimation based on the additive quark rule. As an effective approach that is convenient and parameter-free, we adopt the Veneziano model in the simplest form. The model is only applicable to the region of low centre-of-mass energy. When the transverse momentum is large, perturbative QCD takes over, whereas in the Regge region, it is known that the Regge pole picture fails in photoproduction. Despite the shortcomings of the model, we find that the parameter-free amplitudes offer a sound description of the data at hand.Comment: 24 pages, 11 figure
