Roots multiplicity without companion matrices
We show a method for constructing a polynomial interpolating roots'
multiplicities of another polynomial, that does not use companion matrices.
This leads to a modification to Guersenzvaig--Szechtman square-free
decomposition algorithm that is more efficient both in theory and in practice
Graph of even points on an arithmetic curve
We show that the points of a global function field, whose classes are
2-divisible in the Picard group, form a connected graph, with the incidence
relation generalizing the well known quadratic reciprocity law. We prove that
for every global function field the dimension of this graph is precisely 2. In
addition we develop an analog of global square theorem that concerns points
2-divisible in the Picard group
Places, cuts and orderings of function fields
In this paper we investigate the space of -places of an algebraic
function field of one variable. We deal with the problem of determining when
two orderings of such a field correspond to a single -place. To
this end we introduce and study the space of cuts on a real curve and prove
that the space is homeomorphic to the space of orderings. Finally, we prove
that two cuts (consequently, two orderings) correspond to a single
-place if they are induced by a single ultrametric ball.Comment: 16 page
Nuclear radiation environment analysis for thermoelectric outer planet spacecraft
Neutron and gamma ray transport calculations were performed using Monte Carlo methods and a three-dimensional geometric model of the spacecraft. The results are compared with similar calculations performed for an earlier design
