Seit 2021 bietet die Berner Fachhochschule (BFH) den Fachkurs «Prozessgestaltung mit Design Thinking» an. Die Methode mit Kreativtechniken kommt ursprünglich aus der Produktentwicklung, doch ihre Anwendung im Gesundheitsmanagement nimmt zu. Belastende Faktoren im Büroraum und deren Einfluss auf die psychische Gesundheit und das Arbeitsengagement. Ergebnisse aus der Befragung mit Friendly Work Space Job-Stress-Analysis

Im Rahmen des Forschungsprojekts «Offices, Change & Health» wird der Einfluss von Büroräumen auf die psychische Gesundheit und das Arbeitsengagement der Mitarbeitenden erforscht. Für zusätzliche Aussagen über die Bedeutung des Büroraums wurden die bestehenden Daten des Online-Befragungsinstruments Friendly Work Space (FWS) Job-Stress-Analysis ausgewertet: Über 20% der Befragten bewerten Lärm und unangenehme Temperaturen und etwa 15% trockene Luft und wenig taugliche Arbeitsmittel als grosse Belastung. Die abgefragten Umgebungsbelastungen haben insbesondere auf psychosomatische Beschwerden einen relevanten Einfluss. Die Effekte des Büroraums sind insgesamt geringer als diejenigen der aufgabenbezogenen und sozialen Belastungen, doch für alle untersuchten Indikatoren sind sie relevant und konsistent

Teaching open and reproducible scholarship: A critical review of the evidence base for current pedagogical methods and their outcomes

In recent years, the scientific community has called for improvements in the credibility, robustness and reproducibility of research, characterized by increased interest and promotion of open and transparent research practices. While progress has been positive, there is a lack of consideration about how this approach can be embedded into undergraduate and postgraduate research training. Specifically, a critical overview of the literature which investigates how integrating open and reproducible science may influence student outcomes is needed. In this paper, we provide the first critical review of literature surrounding the integration of open and reproducible scholarship into teaching and learning and its associated outcomes in students. Our review highlighted how embedding open and reproducible scholarship appears to be associated with (i) students' scientific literacies (i.e. students’ understanding of open research, consumption of science and the development of transferable skills); (ii) student engagement (i.e. motivation and engagement with learning, collaboration and engagement in open research) and (iii) students' attitudes towards science (i.e. trust in science and confidence in research findings). However, our review also identified a need for more robust and rigorous methods within pedagogical research, including more interventional and experimental evaluations of teaching practice. We discuss implications for teaching and learning scholarship

Eine neue Lern- und Servicebibliothek entsteht

Ein Grossteil der Fachhochschul-Kundschaft kommt mit einem beruflichen Erfahrungshintergrund – meist aus dem Dienstleistungssektor – an die Hochschule. Deshalb hat sie ein wesentlich professionelleres Dienstleistungsverständnis und eine höhere Erwartung an Serviceleistungen beispielsweise einer Bibliothek als der klassische Universitätsstudierende. Auch Einrichtung und Ausstattung gehören zum Serviceportfolio einer Bibliothek. Diese werden von den Nutzenden sehr bewusst wahrgenommen. Der berufliche Werdegang, die eingeschlagene Fachrichtung und die Kenntnisse über andere Hochschulen und ihre zentralen Einrichtungen bilden das «Tertium Comparationis», aus dem Erwartungshaltung und funktionale Anforderungen generiert werden. Wer heute im FH-Kontext Bibliotheken plant und baut, muss dies berücksichtigen.Une grande partie de la clientèle qui arrive à la Haute école spécialisée est au bénéfice d’une formation professionnelle de base, le plus souvent dans le secteur des services. C’est la raison pour laquelle sa bibliothèque a développé une compréhension nettement plus professionnelle de ses prestations afin de répondre aux attentes des usagers, qui sont différentes, par exemple, de celles d’une bibliothèque universitaire classique. Les installations et les équipements font également partie des aménagements généraux d’une bibliothèque. Ces derniers sont utilisés comme il se doit par les usagers. La carrière professionnelle, l’orientation choisie et les connaissances sur d’autres hautes écoles et leurs orientations spécifiques constituent le «tertium comparationis» sur lequel reposent les attentes et les exigences fonctionnelles de la clientèle. Companies that introduce modern workplace environments often see themselves confronted with the prejudice that it is all about cost reduction. Based on empiric studies this article presents the main drivers to implement new workplace concepts for today’s companies in Switzerland and Germany and introduces differences according to industry sector, legal form and type of workplace concept. One of the most important drivers is the enhancement of communication and collaboration. Hence, the second part of this article deals with the measurement of these aspects. The effects referring to communication and collaboration of four workplace change projects are introduced and discussed
