Electric Dipole Moments in the Generic Supersymmetric Standard Model
The generic supersymmetric standard model is a model built from a
supersymmetrized standard model field spectrum the gauge symmetries only. The
popular minimal supersymmetric standard model differs from the generic version
in having R-parity imposed by hand. We review an efficient formulation of the
model and some of the recently obtained interesting phenomenological features,
focusing on one-loop contributions to fermion electric dipole moments.Comment: 1+7 pages Revtex 3 figures incoporated; talk at NANP'0
In an Attempt to Introduce Long-range Interactions into Small-world Networks
Distinguishing the long-range bonds with the regular ones, the critical
temperature of the spin-lattice Guassian model built on two typical Small-world
Networks (SWNs) is studied. The results show much difference from the classical
case, and thus may induce some more accurate discussion on the critical
properties of the spin-lattice systems combined with the SWNs.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, 18 referenc
A Detailed Analysis of One-loop Neutrino Masses from the Generic Supersymmetric Standard Model
In the generic supersymmetric standard model which had no global symmetry
enforced by hand, lepton number violation is a natural consequence.
Supersymmetry, hence, can be considered the source of experimentally demanded
beyond standard model properties for the neutrinos. With an efficient
formulation of the model, we perform a comprehensive detailed analysis of all
one-loop contributions to neutrino masses.Comment: 27 pages Revtex, no figur
Induced Growth of Asymmetric Nanocantilever Arrays on Polar Surfaces
©2003 The American Physical Society. The electronic version of this article is the complete one and can be found online at: http://link.aps.org/doi/10.1103/PhysRevLett.91.185502DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevLett.91.185502We report that the Zn-terminated ZnO (0001) polar surface is chemically active and the oxygenterminated (0001) polar surface is inert in the growth of nanocantilever arrays. Longer and wider "comblike" nanocantilever arrays are grown from the (0001)-Zn surface, which is suggested to be a self-catalyzed process due to the enrichment of Zn at the growth front. The chemically inactive
(0001)-O surface typically does not initiate any growth, but controlling experimental conditions could lead to the growth of shorter and narrower nanocantilevers from the intersections between (0001)-O with (0110) surfaces
One-loop Neutron Electric Dipole Moment from Supersymmetry without R-parity
We present a detailed analysis together with exact numerical calculations on
one-loop contributions to neutron electric dipole moment from supersymmetry
without R-parity, focusing on the gluino, chargino, and neutralino
contributions. Apart from the neglected family mixing among quarks, complete
formulae are given for the various contributions, through the quark dipole
operators, to which the present study is restricted. We discuss the structure
and main features of the R-parity violating contributions and the interplay
between the R-parity conserving and violating parameters. In particular, the
parameter combination , under the optimal
parametrization adopted, is shown to be solely responsible for the R-parity
violating contributions in the supersymmetric loop diagrams. While
could bear a complex phase, the latter is not
necessary to have a R-parity violating contribution.Comment: 43 pages Revtex with 15 eps- and 4 ps- figure files incoporated;

Comparative compressional behavior of chabazite with Li+, Na+, Ag+, K+, Rb+, and Cs+ as extra-framework cations
The high-pressure behavior of monovalent-cation-exchanged chabazites was investigated by means of in situ synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction with a diamond-anvil cell, and using water as penetrating pressure-transmitting medium, up to 5.5 GPa at room temperature. In all cases, except for Na-containing chabazites, a phase transition from the original rhombohedral (R3m) to triclinic symmetry (likely P1) was observed in the range between 3.0 GPa and 5.0 GPa. The phase transition is accompanied by an abrupt decrease of the unit-cell volume by up to 10%. Evidence of pressure-induced hydration (PIH), i.e., P-induced penetration of H2O molecules through the zeolitic cavities, was observed, as reflected by the incompressibility of the cation-exchanged chabazites, which is governed by the distribution of the extra-framework cations. The reversibility of the PIH and P-induced phase transitions in the high-pressure behavior of the cation-exchanged chabazites are discussed in the context of the role played by the chemical nature and bonding configuration of the extra-framework cations, along with that of the H2O content at room conditions
Continuous volumetric imaging via an optical phase-locked ultrasound lens
In vivo imaging at high spatiotemporal resolution is key to the understanding of complex biological systems. We integrated an optical phase-locked ultrasound lens into a two-photon fluorescence microscope and achieved microsecond-scale axial scanning, thus enabling volumetric imaging at tens of hertz. We applied this system to multicolor volumetric imaging of processes sensitive to motion artifacts, including calcium dynamics in behaving mouse brain and transient morphology changes and trafficking of immune cells
