In the title compound, C22H19N3O2, the phenol ring forms dihedral angles of 88.93 (10) and 87.95 (12)° with the benzimidazole system and the quinazoline benzene ring, respectively. In the crystal, molecules are linked via O—H⋯N hydrogen bonds into infinite chains along [100]. An intramolecular N—H⋯O hydrogen bond generates an S(6) ring

In the zwitterionic title compound, C18H16N2O4·H2O, the dihedral angle between the planes of the benzene and indole rings is 39.20 (8)°. An intramolecular N—H⋯O hydrogen bond generates an S(6) ring motif. In the crystal, intermolecular hydroxy and water O—H⋯O(carboxylate) and N+—H⋯O(carboxylate) and indole N—H⋯O(water) hydrogen bonds give a three-dimensional structure

Storage Performance Evaluation for IoT Gateway Implementation Using Raspberry Pi 2

IoT gateway is a core module exists in many of the IoT architectures that plays a role to connect WSNs to the internet, or specifically to the Cloud. However, conventional internet gateway is not sufficient to be IoT gateway. One of the most critical issue faced by IoT gateway is unstable internet connection especially when using cellular network. This work proposes that IoT gateway should have temporary storage to mask network issue. The objective of this work is to find out the most efficient solution for IoT gateway with temporary storage based on the elements of hardware, scheduler and storage method including database versus flat file on Raspberry Pi and NAND flash. From our experimental results, we found that the most efficient solution for temporary storage in IoT Gateway is using 4-threaded flat file I/O with Deadline scheduler

In the zwitterionic title compound, C18H16N2O4, the dihedral angle between the planes of the benzene and indole rings is 26.38 (10)°. An intramolecular N—H⋯O hydrogen bond generates an S(6) ring motif. In the crystal, molecules are linked through N—H⋯O, O—H⋯O and C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds into infinite chains propagating in [010]

Influence of SiO2, TiO2 and Fe2O3 nanoparticles on the properties of fly ash blended cement mortars

This study explores the effects of different types of nanoparticles, namely nano-SiO2 (NS), nano-TiO2 (NT), and nano-Fe2O3 (NF) on the fresh properties, mechanical properties, and microstructure of cement mortar containing fly ash as a supplementary cementitious material. These nanoparticles existed in powder form and were incorporated into the mortar at the dosages of 1%, 3%, and 5% wt.% of cement. Also, fly ash has been added into in mortars with a constant dosage of 30% wt.% of cement. Compressive and flexural strength tests were performed to evaluate the mechanical properties of the mortar specimens with different nanoparticles at three curing ages, 7, 14, and 28 days. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) tests were conducted to study the microstructure and the hydration products of the mortars. To elucidate the effects of nanoparticles on the binder phase, additional experiments were performed on accompanying cement pastes: nanoindentation and open porosity measurements. The study shows that, if added in appropriate amounts, all nanoparticles investigated can result in significantly improved mechanical properties compared to the reference materials. However, exceeding of the optimal concentration results in clustering of the nanoparticles and reduces the mechanical properties of the composites, which is accompanied with increasing the porosity. This study provides guidelines for further improvement of concretes with blended cements through use of nanoparticles

Principal component analysis on meteorological data in UTM KL

The high usage of fossil fuel to produce energy for the increasing demand of energy has been the primary culprit behind global warming. Renewable energies such as solar energy can be a solution in preventing the situation from worsening. Solar energy can be harnessed using available system such as solar thermal cogeneration systems. However, for the system to function smoothly and continuously, knowledge on solar radiation’s intensity several minutes in advance are required. Though there exist various solar radiation forecast models, most of the existing models requires high computational time. In this research, principal component analysis were applied on the meteorological data collected in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Kuala Lumpur to reduce the dimension of the data. Dominant factors obtained from the analysis is expected to be useful for the development of solar radiation forecast model

What is at stake in a war? A prospective evaluation of the Ukraine and Russia conflict for business and society

    Get PDF
War produces devastating impacts on humankind, especially in terms of lives and livelihoods. While war is a widely studied topic in history, it remains relatively understudied in business. To address this gap, this article explores the impact of war for business and society. To do so, this article undertakes a prospective evaluation of the Ukraine and Russia conflict as a recent case of war. In doing so, this article reveals that a war can impact society within (e.g., limit access to basic necessities and monetary resources, increase unemployment and reduce purchasing power, and increase asylum seekers and refugees) and outside (e.g., supply shortage and inflation and threat of false information) as well as business within(e.g., threat of cyberattacks, threat to digital and sustainable growth, and short-term and long-term sanctions and support) and outside (e.g., test of business ethics and moral obligations and test of brand management) war-torn countries. The article concludes with an agenda for future research involving war, business, and society

/ Hand washing practice is one of preventive measures for some common infectious diseases. Thus to promote hand washing among community, level of knowledge and awareness amoog the population should be assessed so that appropriate interventions can be carried out. The objective of this study was to study the knowledge, attitude and practice 00 hand washing among residents of Stapang I aged 18 and above from 11th of June to 17th of August 201iJ The results obtained were then using as the baseline data to conduct an intervention programme beneficial to the community to enhance their level of knowledge, attitude and practice towards hand washing. Data collection was done by face to face interview using interview-based questionnaire. Data analysis was done using SPSS software version 20.0. Results showed that 50% of the respondents had good knowledge and good attitude while 63.3% had good practice towards hand washing. Post-intervention study showed significant improvement in the total score for knowledge and attitude towards hand washing (pO.05). In conclusion, there is a great need for intensive intervention in order to enhance the practice of hand washing among the respondents
