Weighted pluricomplex energy
We study the complex Monge-Ampre operator on the classes of finite
pluricomplex energy in the general case
( i.e. the total Monge-Ampre mass may be infinite). We establish an
interpretation of these classes in terms of the speed of decrease of the
capacity of sublevel sets and give a complete description of the range of the
operator on the classes Comment: Contrary to what we claimed in the previous version, in Theorem 5.1
we generalize some Theorem of Urban Cegrell but we do not give a new proof.

Polya's inequalities, global uniform integrability and the size of plurisubharmonic lemniscates
First we prove a new inequality comparing uniformly the relative volume of a
Borel subset with respect to any given complex euclidean ball \B \sub \C^n
with its relative logarithmic capacity in \C^n with respect to the same ball
\B.
An analoguous comparison inequality for Borel subsets of euclidean balls of
any generic real subspace of \C^n is also proved.
Then we give several interesting applications of these inequalities.
First we obtain sharp uniform estimates on the relative size of \psh
lemniscates associated to the Lelong class of \psh functions of logarithmic
singularities at infinity on \C^n as well as the Cegrell class of
\psh functions of bounded Monge-Amp\`ere mass on a hyperconvex domain \W
\Sub \C^n.
Then we also deduce new results on the global behaviour of both the Lelong
class and the Cegrell class of \psh functions.Comment: 25 page
Hyperbolic outer billiards : a first example
We present the first example of a hyperbolic outer billiard. More precisely
we construct a one parameter family of examples which in some sense correspond
to the Bunimovich billiards.Comment: 11 pages, 8 figures, to appear in Nonlinearit
Hadronic Production of S-wave and P-wave Charmed Beauty Mesons via Heavy Quark Fragmentation
At hadron colliders the dominant production mechanism of mesons
with large transverse momentum is due to parton fragmentation. We compute the
rates and transverse momentum spectra for production of S-wave and P-wave
mesons at the Tevatron via the direct fragmentation of the bottom
antiquark as well as the Altarelli-Parisi induced gluon fragmentation. Since
all the radially and orbitally excited mesons below the
flavor threshold will cascade into the pseudoscalar ground state through
electromagnetic and/or hadronic transitions, they all contribute to the
inclusive production of . The contributions of the excited S-wave and
P-wave states to the inclusive production of are 58 and 23\%,
respectively, and hence significant.Comment: Changes are made in the Discussio
Using Heavy Quark Spin Symmetry in Semileptonic Decays
The form factors parameterizing the B_c semileptonic matrix elements can be
related to a few invariant functions if the decoupling of the spin of the heavy
quarks in B_c and in the mesons produced in the semileptonic decays is
exploited. We compute the form factors as overlap integral of the meson
wave-functions obtained using a QCD relativistic potential model, and give
predictions for semileptonic and non-leptonic B_c decay modes. We also discuss
possible experimental tests of the heavy quark spin symmetry in B_c decays.Comment: RevTex, 22 pages, 2 figure

TNFAIP3 Maintains Intestinal Barrier Function and Supports Epithelial Cell Tight Junctions
Tight junctions between intestinal epithelial cells mediate the permeability of the intestinal barrier, and loss of intestinal barrier function mediated by TNF signaling is associated with the inflammatory pathophysiology observed in Crohn's disease and celiac disease. Thus, factors that modulate intestinal epithelial cell response to TNF may be critical for the maintenance of barrier function. TNF alpha-induced protein 3 (TNFAIP3) is a cytosolic protein that acts in a negative feedback loop to regulate cell signaling induced by Toll-like receptor ligands and TNF, suggesting that TNFAIP3 may play a role in regulating the intestinal barrier. To investigate the specific role of TNFAIP3 in intestinal barrier function we assessed barrier permeability in TNFAIP3â/â mice and LPS-treated villin-TNFAIP3 transgenic mice. TNFAIP3â/â mice had greater intestinal permeability compared to wild-type littermates, while villin-TNFAIP3 transgenic mice were protected from increases in permeability seen within LPS-treated wild-type littermates, indicating that barrier permeability is controlled by TNFAIP3. In cultured human intestinal epithelial cell lines, TNFAIP3 expression regulated both TNF-induced and myosin light chain kinase-regulated tight junction dynamics but did not affect myosin light chain kinase activity. Immunohistochemistry of mouse intestine revealed that TNFAIP3 expression inhibits LPS-induced loss of the tight junction protein occludin from the apical border of the intestinal epithelium. We also found that TNFAIP3 deubiquitinates polyubiquitinated occludin. These in vivo and in vitro studies support the role of TNFAIP3 in promoting intestinal epithelial barrier integrity and demonstrate its novel ability to maintain intestinal homeostasis through tight junction protein regulation.</p
The Decays to -wave Charmonium by Improved Bethe-Salpeter Approach
We re-calculate the exclusive semileptonic and nonleptonic decays of
meson to a -wave charmonium in terms of the improved Bethe-Salpeter (B-S)
approach, which is developed recently. Here the widths for the exclusive
semileptonic and nonleptonic decays, the form factors, and the charged lepton
spectrums for the semileptonic decays are precisely calculated. To test the
concerned approach by comparing with experimental measurements when the
experimental data are available, and to have comparisons with the other
approaches the results obtained by the approach and those by some approaches
else as well as the original B-S approach, which appeared in literature, are
comparatively presented and discussed.Comment: 33 pages, 5 figures, 3 table
Active wetting of epithelial tissues
Development, regeneration and cancer involve drastic transitions in tissue
morphology. In analogy with the behavior of inert fluids, some of these
transitions have been interpreted as wetting transitions. The validity and
scope of this analogy are unclear, however, because the active cellular forces
that drive tissue wetting have been neither measured nor theoretically
accounted for. Here we show that the transition between 2D epithelial
monolayers and 3D spheroidal aggregates can be understood as an active wetting
transition whose physics differs fundamentally from that of passive wetting
phenomena. By combining an active polar fluid model with measurements of
physical forces as a function of tissue size, contractility, cell-cell and
cell-substrate adhesion, and substrate stiffness, we show that the wetting
transition results from the competition between traction forces and contractile
intercellular stresses. This competition defines a new intrinsic lengthscale
that gives rise to a critical size for the wetting transition in tissues, a
striking feature that has no counterpart in classical wetting. Finally, we show
that active shape fluctuations are dynamically amplified during tissue
dewetting. Overall, we conclude that tissue spreading constitutes a prominent
example of active wetting --- a novel physical scenario that may explain
morphological transitions during tissue morphogenesis and tumor progression
The meson annihilation to leptons and inclusive light hadrons
The annihilation of the meson to leptons and inclusive light hadrons is
analyzed in the framework of nonrelativistic QCD (NRQCD) factorization. We find
that the decay mode, which escapes from the helicity suppression, contributes a
sizable fraction width. According to the analysis, the branching ratio due to
the contribution from the color-singlet component of the meson can be of
order (10^{-2}). We also estimate the contributions from the color-octet
components. With the velocity scaling rule of NRQCD, we find that the
color-octet contributions are sizable too, especially, in certain phase space
of the annihilation they are greater than (or comparative to) the color-singlet
component. A few observables relevant to the spectrum of charged lepton are
suggested, that may be used as measurements on the color-octet and
color-singlet components in the future experiments. A typical long
distance contribution in the annihilation is estimated too.Comment: 26 pages, 5 figures (6 eps-files), submitted to Phys. Rev.
Top A_FB at the Tevatron vs. charge asymmetry at the LHC in chiral U(1) flavor models with flavored Higgs doublets
We consider the top forward-backward (FB) asymmetry at the Tevatron and top
charge asymmetry at the LHC within chiral U(1)^\prime models with
flavor-dependent U(1)^\prime charges and flavored Higgs fields, which were
introduced in the ref. [65]. The models could enhance not only the top
forward-backward asymmetry at Tevatron, but also the top charge asymmetry at
LHC, without too large same-sign top pair production rates. We identify
parameter spaces for the U(1)^\prime gauge boson and (pseudo)scalar Higgs
bosons where all the experimental data could be accommodated, including the
case with about 125 GeV Higgs boson, as suggested recently by ATLAS and CMS.Comment: 11 pages, 6 figures, figures and discussion adde
