Elastic oscillations of water column in the 2003 Tokachi-oki tsunami source: in-situ measurements and 3-D numerical modelling

International audienceDuring the 2003 Tokachi-Oki tsunamigenic earthquake the real-time JAMSTEC observatory obtained records which provided a unique opportunity to have a look deep inside the tsunami source. Considering water column as a compressible medium we processed the bottom pressure records in order to estimate amplitude, duration and velocity of bottom displacement. Spectral analysis of the records revealed a clear manifestation of the low-frequency elastic oscillations of water column. We also presented 3-D finite-difference numerical model developed in the framework of linear potential theory of ideal compressible fluid to better understand dynamical processes in the tsunami source. The model reproduces position of the main spectral maximum rather correctly. However, due to neglecting of crust elasticity and to lack of exact knowledge of spatiotemporal laws of bottom motion, there is an essential difference between in-situ observed and computed spectra

Contribution of nonlinearity in tsunami generated by submarine earthquake

International audienceRapid co-seismic bottom displacements during strong submarine earthquake give rise to intensive low-frequency elastic oscillations of water layer. Nonlinear energy transfer from the elastic oscillations to long gravitational waves may provide an additional contribution to tsunami. The nonlinear tsunami generation mechanism is examined analytically. Finiteness of bottom elasticity is taken into account. General parameters responsible for amplitude and energy of the nonlinear contribution to tsunami wave are revealed

Tetrahedron maps, Yang-Baxter maps, and partial linearisations

We study tetrahedron maps, which are set-theoretical solutions to the Zamolodchikov tetrahedron equation, and Yang-Baxter maps, which are set-theoretical solutions to the quantum Yang-Baxter equation. In particular, we clarify the structure of the nonlinear algebraic relations which define linear (parametric) tetrahedron maps (with nonlinear dependence on parameters), and we present several transformations which allow one to obtain new such maps from known ones. Furthermore, we prove that the differential of a (nonlinear) tetrahedron map on a manifold is a tetrahedron map as well. Similar results on the differentials of Yang-Baxter and entwining Yang-Baxter maps are also presented. Using the obtained general results, we construct new examples of (parametric) Yang-Baxter and tetrahedron maps. The considered examples include maps associated with integrable systems and matrix groups. In particular, we obtain a parametric family of new linear tetrahedron maps, which are linear approximations for the nonlinear tetrahedron map constructed by Dimakis and M\"uller-Hoissen [arXiv:1708.05694] in a study of soliton solutions of vector Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) equations. Also, we present invariants for this nonlinear tetrahedron map.Comment: 23 pages; v2: new results and references added, minor corrections mad

[For the English abstract and full text of the article please see the attached PDF-File (English version follows Russian version)].ABSTRACT The article presents the results of a research in the field of modeling of transport culture of population, particularly based on R. Smeed’s law modifications. Using experimental data analysis it was found that behavior of citizens on the roads is determined primarily by the level of motorization in the region. The proposed basic model of transport culture of population allows us to solve a number o f problems associated with implementation of federal and regional programs of road safety. Keywords: transport, road safety, transport culture of population, model, transport risk, social risk, level of motorization.

CONCERNING CHAIN GROWTH SPECIFIC REACTION RATE AS A PART OF THE PROCESS OF METHYL METHACRYLATE MASS RADICAL POLYMERIZATION

    Get PDF
It is the chain growth specific reaction rate that was determined for the process of methyl methacrylate mass radical polymerization within the temperature range of 40–900 С in quasi-steady approximation by means of Monte Carlo method. The theoretical model of radical polymerization was developed taking the gel effect into account. Computer software was developed that enables to imitate radical polymerization process taking gel effect into account within the minimum run time. The programme was tested on asymptotic examples as well as was applied for methyl methacrylate mass radical polymerization. The programme makes it possible to calculate monomer conversion, molecular mass variation, molecular-mass distribution, etc

Open Access terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. This article is focused on the development of the structure and content of consolidating orientation of pedagogical functions of university teachers in international students’ training. The leading method of research is the modeling method that allows producing of the established structure’s and content’s justification of consolidating orientation of teachers’ pedagogical functions. The article deals with the structure and content of the concept “consolidating orientation of university teachers’ pedagogical functions”; defines the content of educational process’s updating in international students’ training through the implementation of the consolidating orientation of teachers’ pedagogical functions; substantiates the educational-methodical complex of educational process’s updating of international students on the basis of the results of the study. The productivity of educational-methodical complex is proved using the criteria of formation of: cross-cultural interaction competence; ability to overcome barriers of cross-cultural communication; skills of objective evaluation of their own positions in the cross-cultural interaction with teachers, fellow students, in society; ability to plan cross-cultural interaction with others in the course of their professional activities; planning abilities of “settling” in the region, and others
