Solution of the Bosonic and Algebraic Hamiltonians by using AIM
We apply the notion of asymptotic iteration method (AIM) to determine
eigenvalues of the bosonic Hamiltonians that include a wide class of quantum
optical models. We consider solutions of the Hamiltonians, which are even
polynomials of the fourth order with the respect to Boson operators. We also
demonstrate applicability of the method for obtaining eigenvalues of the simple
Lie algebraic structures. Eigenvalues of the multi-boson Hamiltonians have been
obtained by transforming in the form of the single boson Hamiltonian in the
framework of AIM
Acreage Allocation Model Estimation and Policy Evaluations for Major Crops in Turkey
This study estimates a system of supply equations for major field crops in Turkey and evaluates alternative agricultural policies for crop supply control. The author suggests that the supply of major field crops in Turkey responds significantly to both own-price and substitute price changes. The Turkish wheat price or gross return is the most important factor determining area allocation in Turkish field crops. Findings from this study will be useful to policy makers who establish agricultural policy on issues such as crop support prices, input subsidies, and input restrictions
MATCASC: A tool to analyse cascading line outages in power grids
Blackouts in power grids typically result from cascading failures. The key
importance of the electric power grid to society encourages further research
into sustaining power system reliability and developing new methods to manage
the risks of cascading blackouts. Adequate software tools are required to
better analyze, understand, and assess the consequences of the cascading
failures. This paper presents MATCASC, an open source MATLAB based tool to
analyse cascading failures in power grids. Cascading effects due to line
overload outages are considered. The applicability of the MATCASC tool is
demonstrated by assessing the robustness of IEEE test systems and real-world
power grids with respect to cascading failures
Adsorption of Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) for Different Gas Concentrations, Temperatures and Relative Humidities by using Activated Carbon Filter: An Experimental Study
Noxious gases can be reduced through activated carbon; nevertheless, this process is very complex due to the changing parameters. Nitrogen dioxides take place in the so-called reactive gases. The nitrogen dioxide concentration existing in the environment can be harmful, in particular for asthmatics and it also has the potential to bring about other serious diseases. For instance, interior diseases are often caused by nitrogen oxide gases. Through this study, we have observed the nitrogen dioxide adsorption on the active carbon for varying air temperatures, gas concentrations and air relative humidities. In this context, it has been examined the effect of all three parameters. While conducting this project, we have used parameters between 1ppm and 30ppm (for NO2 concentration), 23°C and 33°C (for air temperature), 30% and 90% (for air relative humidity). In order to understand this process, breakthrough curves of NO2evaluated from experiments have been used in the present study. Results show that the humidity has not a remarkable effect on the adsorption of NO2; however, increasing relative humidity causes to a decrease in the capacity of the activated carbon for NO2 adsorption. Additionally, NO2 adsorption is exothermic, therefore it increases the air temperature
N-fold Supersymmetry in Quantum Systems with Position-dependent Mass
We formulate the framework of N-fold supersymmetry in one-body quantum
mechanical systems with position-dependent mass (PDM). We show that some of the
significant properties in the constant-mass case such as the equivalence to
weak quasi-solvability also hold in the PDM case. We develop a systematic
algorithm for constructing an N-fold supersymmetric PDM system. We apply it to
obtain type A N-fold supersymmetry in the case of PDM, which is characterized
by the so-called type A monomial space. The complete classification and general
form of effective potentials for type A N-fold supersymmetry in the PDM case
are given.Comment: 18 pages, no figures; Refs. updated, typos correcte
New approach to (quasi)-exactly solvable Schrodinger equations with a position-dependent effective mass
By using the point canonical transformation approach in a manner distinct
from previous ones, we generate some new exactly solvable or quasi-exactly
solvable potentials for the one-dimensional Schr\"odinger equation with a
position-dependent effective mass. In the latter case, SUSYQM techniques
provide us with some additional new potentials.Comment: 11 pages, no figur
Sugar Policy Reform in the Republic of Turkey
Recently, the Republic of Turkey passed a significant milestone on its road to becoming a full member of the European Union when the customs union agreement became effective. The agreement eliminates barriers to trade between Turkey and the EU in industrial goods and processed agricultural products. In 1997 the Turkish Sugar Corporation drafted a proposal to change Turkey\u27s current sugar policies to coincide with the existing Common Agricultural Policy. This paper examines the impact of the proposed sugar regulation on Turkey\u27s sugar production and trade
Evaluation of trabecular bone microstructure of mandibular condyle in edentulous, unilateral edentulous and fully dentate patients using cone-beam computed tomography
Background: The aim of this study was to compare the trabecular bone microstructure of the mandibular condyle in edentulous, unilateral edentulous (Kennedy Class II), and fully dentate patients.Materials and methods: The study used the cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images of 17 fully dentate (34 condyles), 16 edentulous (32 condyles), and 17 unilateral edentulous patients (34 condyles) aged 19 to 80 years. The trabecular bone microstructure of the mandibular condyle was evaluated on 8 consecutive cross-sectional images of these patients. In the microstructure analysis, structural model index (SMI), ellipsoid factor (EF), bone volume fraction (BV/TV), trabecular thickness (Tb.Th) and trabecular seperation (Tb.Sp) were measured. Results: There was no significant difference between the mean SMI, BV/TV, EF and Tb.Th microstructure values of each group (p = 0.243, p = 0.095, p = 0.962, p = 0.095, respectively). However, there was significant difference in terms of mean Tb.Sp between the groups (p = 0.021). The trabecular structure in all three groups was more rod-shaped. No correlation was found between age factor and microstructure values. Conclusions: Considering the in vivo microstructure analysis of CBCT images, it can be said that teeth loss does not have a significant effect on the microstructure parameters excluding Tb.Sp of mandible condyles and does not affect mandibular condyle trabecular endurance
Exactly solvable effective mass D-dimensional Schrodinger equation for pseudoharmonic and modified Kratzer problems
We employ the point canonical transformation (PCT) to solve the D-dimensional
Schr\"{o}dinger equation with position-dependent effective mass (PDEM) function
for two molecular pseudoharmonic and modified Kratzer (Mie-type) potentials. In
mapping the transformed exactly solvable D-dimensional ()
Schr\"{o}dinger equation with constant mass into the effective mass equation by
employing a proper transformation, the exact bound state solutions including
the energy eigenvalues and corresponding wave functions are derived. The
well-known pseudoharmonic and modified Kratzer exact eigenstates of various
dimensionality is manifested.Comment: 13 page
A study of the bound states for square potential wells with position-dependent mass
A square potential well with position-dependent mass is studied for bound
states. Applying appropriate matching conditions, a transcendental equation is
derived for the energy eigenvalues. Numerical results are presented graphically
and the variation of the energy of the bound states are calculated as a
function of the well-width and mass.Comment: To appear in Phys. Lett. A (Present e-mail of A.G:
