Thermal Radiation from Nucleons and Mesons
Thermal photon emission rates due to meson-nucleon interactions have been
evaluated. An exhaustive set of reactions involving p(\bar p), n(\bar n), rho,
omega, a_1, pi and eta is seen to provide a sizeable contribution to the
emission rate from hot hadronic matter. Contributions from baryonic resonances
are found to be negligibly small
Equivalence of the (generalised) Hadamard and microlocal spectrum condition for (generalised) free fields in curved spacetime
We prove that the singularity structure of all n-point distributions of a
state of a generalised real free scalar field in curved spacetime can be
estimated if the two-point distribution is of Hadamard form. In particular this
applies to the real free scalar field and the result has applications in
perturbative quantum field theory, showing that the class of all Hadamard
states is the state space of interest. In our proof we assume that the field is
a generalised free field, i.e. that it satisies scalar (c-number) commutation
relations, but it need not satisfy an equation of motion. The same argument
also works for anti-commutation relations and it can be generalised to
vector-valued fields. To indicate the strengths and limitations of our
assumption we also prove the analogues of a theorem by Borchers and Zimmermann
on the self-adjointness of field operators and of a very weak form of the
Jost-Schroer theorem. The original proofs of these results in the Wightman
framework make use of analytic continuation arguments. In our case no
analyticity is assumed, but to some extent the scalar commutation relations can

J/\psi production through resolved photon processes at e+ e- colliders
We consider J/psi photoproduction in e+ e- as well as linear photon
colliders. We find that the process is dominated by the resolved photon
channel. Both the once-resolved and twice-resolved cross-sections are sensitive
to (different combinations of) the colour octet matrix elements. Hence, this
may be a good testing ground for colour octet contributions in NRQCD. On the
other hand, the once-resolved J/psi production cross-section, particularly in a
linear photon collider, is sensitive to the gluon content of the photon. Hence
these cross-sections can be used to determine the parton distribution
functions, especially the gluon distribution, in a photon, if the colour octet

Introduction to Loop Quantum Gravity
This article is based on the opening lecture at the third quantum geometry
and quantum gravity school sponsored by the European Science Foundation and
held at Zakopane, Poland in March 2011. The goal of the lecture was to present
a broad perspective on loop quantum gravity for young researchers. The first
part is addressed to beginning students and the second to young researchers who

Transcriptomics and proteomics reveal a cooperation between interferon and T-helper 17 cells in neuromyelitis optica
Type I interferon (IFN-I) and T helper 17 (TH17) drive pathology in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) and in TH17-induced experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (TH17-EAE). This is paradoxical because the prevalent theory is that IFN-I inhibits TH17 function. Here we report that a cascade involving IFN-I, IL-6 and B cells promotes TH17-mediated neuro-autoimmunity. In NMOSD, elevated IFN-I signatures, IL-6 and IL-17 are associated with severe disability. Furthermore, IL-6 and IL-17 levels are lower in patients on anti-CD20 therapy. In mice, IFN-I elevates IL-6 and exacerbates TH17-EAE. Strikingly, IL-6 blockade attenuates disease only in mice treated with IFN-I. By contrast, B-cell-deficiency attenuates TH17-EAE in the presence or absence of IFN-I treatment. Finally, IFN-I stimulates B cells to produce IL-6 to drive pathogenic TH17 differentiation in vitro. Our data thus provide an explanation for the paradox surrounding IFN-I and TH17 in neuro-autoimmunity, and may have utility in predicting therapeutic response in NMOSD
MSSM Higgs sector CP violation at photon colliders: Revisited
We present a comprehensive analysis on the MSSM Higgs sector CP violation at
photon colliders including the chargino contributions as well as the
contributions of other charged particles. The chargino loop contributions can
be important for the would-be CP odd Higgs production at photon colliders.
Polarization asymmetries are indispensable in determining the CP properties of

Presenting a simplified assistant tool for breast cancer diagnosis in mammography to radiologists
This paper proposes a method to simplify a computational model from logistic regression for clinical use without computer. The model was built using human interpreted featrues including some BI-RADS standardized features for diagnosing the malignant masses. It was compared with the diagnosis using only assessment categorization from BI-RADS. The research aims at assisting radiologists to diagnose the malignancy of breast cancer in a way without using automated computer aided diagnosis system
On the Reeh-Schlieder Property in Curved Spacetime
We attempt to prove the existence of Reeh-Schlieder states on curved
spacetimes in the framework of locally covariant quantum field theory using the
idea of spacetime deformation and assuming the existence of a Reeh-Schlieder
state on a diffeomorphic (but not isometric) spacetime. We find that physically
interesting states with a weak form of the Reeh-Schlieder property always exist
and indicate their usefulness. Algebraic states satisfying the full
Reeh-Schlieder property also exist, but are not guaranteed to be of physical

Eschar-associated Spotted Fever Rickettsiosis, Bahia, Brazil
In Brazil, Brazilian spotted fever was once considered the only tick-borne rickettsial disease. We report eschar-associated rickettsial disease that occurred after a tick bite. The etiologic agent is most related to Rickettsia parkeri, R. africae, and R. sibirica and probably widely distributed from São Paulo to Bahia in the Atlantic Forest
