Booth Library added several anatomical models to the Ballenger Teachers Center circulating collection in 2005. One of the challenges resulting from purchasing these models was finding suitable containers for shelving and circulation. This poster reports on the condition and use of the models four years later

Localizing Open Access Articles in PubMed

Eastern Illinois University uses PubMed’s LinkOut to display “Free Full Text” articles, most of which are Open Access, as part of their collection in PubMed. This presentation will explain how the LinkOut process works, adding a library icon to open access journals in PubMed, and managing LinkOut with a SFX Link Resolver

Empowering Innovation

In January of 2011, Booth Library was the recipient of a Technology Improvement Award for the purchase of a new Web server. With a new enterprise-class server, it was possible to have several virtual machines running on one physical server. Using virtualization, we are able to run Microsoft Server 2008 and Ubuntu Linux as separate virtual machines on the same computer. The Linux environment is host to several open-source projects, such as call number mapping and Facebook applications. This project has been funded in part with Federal Funds from the National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health, Department of Health and Human Services, under Contract No. N01-LM-6-3503 with the University of Illinois at Chicago
