The island is about 9 miles long, located near southeastern Connecticut. Gordon C. Tucker (Eastern Illinois University) and Edwin H. Horning (H. L. Ferguson Museum) began work on the Flora of Fisher’s Island in May 1990. Edwin Horning passed away on August 28, 2008 at the age of 88.
