Finding roots in the Montessori social studies curriculum

This action research aimed to determine if an equity audit of the Montessori social studies curriculum and learning about the researcher’s culture impacted professional self-efficacy and resilience. This six-week intervention and study was a self-study through daily regimented activities. Three weeks were used to learn more about the researcher’s own culture and history. Three additional weeks were dedicated to the equity audit process, where the researcher revised original lessons or created new, culturally sustaining lessons to augment the curriculum. The data collected was completed daily using four tools: an attitude scale, a guided questionnaire, a reflective journal, and finally during the three-week audit period, a curriculum audit checklist. The data suggested strong levels of self-efficacy and resilience across the intervention, though resilience wavered and lowered throughout due to its taxing nature. Additional supports and research can better support educators of color prepare for altering and implementing a culturally sustaining and anti-bias, antiracist Montessori social studies curriculum

Resurrecting Inanna: lament, gender, transgression

This essay, which is at once a literary critical examination and a theological exploration of the Hebraic scriptural book of Lamentations in relation to ancient Sumerian lament, employs a mixed critical approach (e.g., form, feminist, postmodern, reader response), to address various lyrical, contextual, and thematic elements common to both the biblical Lamentations and the older Sumerian compositions. Specific focus is given to issues of gender and gender-malleability, as well as the notion of transgression and the various meanings that may be attached to this word in various contexts, theological or otherwise. Also addressed is the means by which the lament genre reflects/reveals the ways in which individuals and communities attempt to construct meaning, or find solace, in the face of human suffering

Violence Impact in Salinas

The Community Safety Program is an agency that focuses on creating methods and analyzing data to decrease violence among youth. The Salinas community completed a survey in which the responses were analyzed to describe the beliefs of youth violence. Violence among youth is a problem that has increased significantly during the last few decades. Some of the contributing factors that create violence are low socioeconomic status, unemployment, and locations prominent by gangs. The consequences of violence are domestic violence or poor neighborhoods, mental health problems, and lack of services and education. Because of this, the majority of the Salinas community still believes that violence is continuously increasing. The purpose of this project is to determine what people think is happening with violence in Salinas and then the information will be provided about the current violence situation. The results demonstrated that the average of 76.5% (Appendix B and C, figure 2.2 and 3.2) of the population “strongly agree” and “agree” that violence has increased over the last few years. However, an average of 4.9 percent of people strongly disagrees that violence has increased. With this information, the City of Salinas Community Safety Division should provide more access to information to educate the community about this social issue

Working With Faith-Based Communities to Develop an Education Tool kit on Relationships, Sexuality, and Contraception

Communities disproportionately affected from higher rates of unplanned teen births are in need of sustainable approaches to prevention strategies. One approach is to build the capacity of faith-based communities (FBCs) to address the sexual health needs of the surrounding community. However there is a need for comprehensive, user-friendly resources designed for FBCs that provide critical decision-making information related to pregnancy prevention inclusive of contraception. Using community-based, theoretical and practice-informed strategies, we developed a user-friendly sexuality education tool kit in five phases: (1) building relationships with faith leaders; (2) piloting educational sessions within churches; (3) gaining insight from participating faith leaders; (4) creating the tool kit; and (5) collecting feedback from training and implementation. Our findings suggest faith leaders remained motivated to overcome perceived barriers by their mission to serve their communities. A sexuality education tool kit that is respectful and guided by the input of FBCs can be a viable and innovative approach to address teen pregnancy

Increasingly, local governments seek to partner with research institutions to understand and undo their legacy of racist policymaking and other aspects of structural racism. This legacy includes historical and current policies, programs, and institutional practices that have facilitated white families' social and economic upward mobility and well-being while creating systemic barriers to the mobility and well-being of families of color.This toolkit highlights community-based approaches that can catalyze equitable public policy, programs, and investments by centering a community's expertise. Our aim is to equip local government agencies and their research partners with the tools needed to transform practices, structures, and systems by joining the highly collaborative processes of racial equity and community engagement. The toolkit is designed for local governments but also for researchers and policy experts who partner with local governments

Análisis de la situación tributaria del periodo 2013 al 2016 y propuesta de una auditoría tributaria preventiva para la empresa PC Distribuidora y Servicios Generales VECOR EIRL Nuevo Chimbote, 2017

El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo principal desarrollar un análisis de la situación tributaria de la empresa “PC Distribuidora y Servicios Generales Vecor E.I.R.L.” durante los periodos 2013 al 2016. Para ello se ha seguido los siguientes pasos u objetivos específicos: Verificar la documentación y registros tributarios del periodo 2013 al 2016 de la empresa; Analizar la situación tributaria del periodo 2013 al 2016; Evaluar la situación tributara del periodo 2013 al 2016. Para lograr lo mencionado líneas atrás, se ha recopilado toda la información teórica relacionada a la variable de estudio y se ha identificado la población, que es toda la documentación Tributaria de la empresa “PC Distribuidora y Servicios Generales Vecor E.I.R.L.”, desde el inicio de sus actividades; asimismo se ha seleccionado la muestra que es La documentación Tributaria del periodo 2013 al 2016 de la empresa en mención. La técnica utilizada para la recolección de datos ha sido la entrevista teniendo como instrumento la Guía de entrevista, la cual ha sido de vital importancia para obtener los resultados para el presente trabajo. En los resultados del presente trabajo de investigación determinamos que, la situación tributaria de la empresa no le asegura a la misma, el poder hacer frente a una fiscalización de la Sunat sin que se le imponga multas, dado que está incurriendo en atrasos de libros electrónicos, y ha cometido infracciones tributarias por las cuales ha pagado multas, es por ello que proponemos una auditoría tributaria En conclusión, ante los resultados mencionados en el párrafo anterior, se propone una auditoría tributaria preventiva, puesto que con un mayor control de su contabilidad tributaria la empresa se evitará perjuicios económicos a futuro por parte de la administración tributaria
