With reference to the educational provisions set forth in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, this paper, reviews the content related to support for disabled children in the “Course of study for Kindergarten,” and ” Guidelines for Nursery Care at Day Nursery,” which were revised in 2017, and makes a tentative study of the future issues regarding special needs education and childcare for disabled children. In both the “Course of study for Kindergarten” and ” Guidelines for Nursery Care at Day Nursery,” the inclusion principle and the provision of reasonable accommodation stated in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities are stipulated. In the field of special needs education, reasonable accommodation is mandatory, but while the significance, issues, etc. pertaining to it have been pointed out, in the field of childcare for disabled children, practices and research related to reasonable accommodation are not so widely seen. However, in actual childcare centers, practices which accommodate the individuality of disabled children have already been accumulated. The outcome of this will be effective in providing reasonable accommodation in special needs education. Moreover, it will be possible to take the forms of reasonable accommodation that have been accumulated in the field of special needs education, and make use of them in childcare for disabled children. Cooperation between special needs education and childcare for disabled children are essential

This article explores how the "reasonable accommodation" that will be required in childcare for children with disabilities in the future ought to be, through a review of the clauses on education in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the development of a legal framework for the "reasonable accommodation" in the field of education in Japan. "Reasonable accommodation" in childcare for children with disabilities is not support provided while asking, "Is it absolutely necessary?" with a passive stance whereby people provide it only because they have been asked to. Rather, it is about discovering the answers to "What is necessary?" in order to conduct childcare activities by taking into consideration the individuality of disabilities. In other words, it is active support which is created out of the mutual understanding and cooperation of the parents and the children with no disabilities and of the caregivers with regard to the environment in which the children with disabilities are placed, and can be said to be a support system based on coordination and consensus

On the confidence of stereo matching in a deep-learning era: a quantitative evaluation

Stereo matching is one of the most popular techniques to estimate dense depth maps by finding the disparity between matching pixels on two, synchronized and rectified images. Alongside with the development of more accurate algorithms, the research community focused on finding good strategies to estimate the reliability, i.e. the confidence, of estimated disparity maps. This information proves to be a powerful cue to naively find wrong matches as well as to improve the overall effectiveness of a variety of stereo algorithms according to different strategies. In this paper, we review more than ten years of developments in the field of confidence estimation for stereo matching. We extensively discuss and evaluate existing confidence measures and their variants, from hand-crafted ones to the most recent, state-of-the-art learning based methods. We study the different behaviors of each measure when applied to a pool of different stereo algorithms and, for the first time in literature, when paired with a state-of-the-art deep stereo network. Our experiments, carried out on five different standard datasets, provide a comprehensive overview of the field, highlighting in particular both strengths and limitations of learning-based strategies.Comment: TPAMI final versio
