TRAJECTORIES OF RSS IDEOLOGICAL DOMINATION IN THE INDIAN POLICY MAKING: IMPLICATIONS FOR SOUTH ASIA

    Get PDF
It is argued by policymakers and practitioners that instability in South Asia has exacerbated since Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) coming into power in India. Its policymaking is impacted by the influence of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). BJP is known as the political brand-name of RSS. There is a perceptible increase in RSS expansion and dominance of Hindutva ideology in domestic, foreign, and security policies of India. RSS is following the grand policy of greater India with the establishment of Hindu hegemony in India and Hindustan’s (India’s) hegemony in South Asia. Empirical evidence suggests that a well-choreographed use of communal violence and Pakistan bashing have been employed by BJP for the attainment of its objectives. BJP’s revoking of Articles 370 and 35-A to forcibly absorb Indian Occupied Kashmir and enactment of Citizen Amendment Act are the most recent manifestation of RSS long-term design. Following the mixed research method, this paper will be developed around the central argument that the rise of RSS influence on Indian policymaking has impacted its domestic and external policies which bear implications for South Asia.   Bibliography Entry Islam, Muhammad Javed, and Zulfqar Khan. 2020. Impact of Basel II on Bank Portfolios in Australia

This paper analyses the sensitivity of various risk-weighted assets and liabilities to regulatory capital ratios of domestic and foreign banks in Australia. In particular, this paper investigates whether the growth of various risk-weighted assets changes during the post-Basel II period and whether those changes are caused by the more rigorous capital regulation introduced by the Basel II. The empirical analysis shows that Australian local banks is found to experience a substantial increase of the high-risk weighted assets (namely, non-residential loans) and subordinated debt with respect to their tier 1 capital ratio. The same changes, however, are found to have insignificant influence on the growth of low-risk weighted assets and total asset. The title compound, C12H9NO2S, belongs to the nitrogen-containing group of heterocyclic organic compounds and crystallized with two molecules per asymmetric unit. In the crystal, both molecules form inversion dimers linked by pairs of O—H—O hydrogen bonds. Weak symmetry-related C—H—O interactions link the carboxyl dimers along b axis. The dihedral angle between the two aromatic rings in the two molecules are 55.75 (14) and 58.33 (13)°

Most stringent test of null of cointegration: A Monte Carlo comparison

    Get PDF
To test for the existence of long run relationship, a variety of null of cointegration tests have been developed in literature. This study is aimed at comparing these tests on basis of size and power using stringency criterion: a robust technique for comparison of tests as it provides with a single number representing the maximum difference between a test’s power and maximum possible power in the entire parameter space. It is found that in general, asymptotic critical values tends to produce size distortion and size of test is controlled when simulated critical values are used. The simple LM test based on KPSS statistic is the most stringent test at all sample sizes for all three specifications of deterministic component, as it has the maximum difference approaching to zero and lesser than 20% for the entire parameter space

Roling-window bounds testing approach to analyze the relationship between oil prices and metal prices

[ArticleInPress]This paper is to find how the existence of a long-run relationship between oil prices and metals prices evolved for the time from January 1979 to December 2017. The rolling-window autoregressive lag mod- eling (RARDL) testing approach of cointegration has been introduced and applied to assess the long-run relationship considering four rolling windows of 5, 10, 15, and 20 years. The empirical evidence concludes that for a small rolling window of 5 years, there is no evidence of the long-run relationship between oil prices and metals prices, i.e. gold, platinum, and silver. However, there is a long-run relationship between oil prices and steel prices from December 2003 to December 2014. At larger rolling windows of 10, 15 and 20 years, oil prices and gold prices are not cointegrated; however, steel, silver, and platinum have a long-run relationship with oil prices in different periods

In the title compound, C15H19Br3N2O4S, the thiazine ring adopts a distorted half-chair conformation. The enolic H atom is involved in an intramolecular O—H⋯O hydrogen bond, forming a six-membered ring. In the crystal, the molecules are linked into a three-dimensional network through intermolecular N—H⋯O, N—H⋯Br and O—H⋯Br hydrogen bonds

Objective: To study the effects of malaria on pregnancy outcome. Methods: A case control study conducted on patients identified by ICD-9 coding system of the hospital medical records. Demographic and clinical data recorded on standardized data sheet and analyzed using SPSS 11.5 software. Results: Of the total patients, 67.4% were multigravid and 32.6% were primigravid with 78.6% of patients having platelets \u3c 150,000. Mean haemoglobin was 9.4 gm/dl in patients and 12.2 gm/dl in controls. Plasmodium Vivax was accounted for 55.8%, P. Falciparum for 41.9%, and P. Ovale 2.3% of infections. In all, 48.8% of patients received oral Chloroquine, 16.3% oral Quinine, 30.3% intravenous Quinine, 20.9% of patients received combination treatment with IV Clindamycin, and one each patient received oral Artemether or oral halofantrine. Two patients had an abortion. One of the following complications including, threatened abortion, preterm labour, ARDS or Cerebral malaria, was observed in one patient each. Mean weight of babies born to cases was 2.8 kg (range 1.4-3.8) and of control babies was 3.2 kg (range 2.5-4.0 kg). No congenital malformations were reported.CONCLUSION: Plasmodium falciparum sp, moderate parasitic load, haemoglobin \u3c 10 gm/dL, platelet count \u3c 50,000/mm3 and IV quinine with loading dose of 20 mg/kg are identified as few of the potential risk factors for poor outcome in pregnancy
