Dyeing studies with henna and madder: A research on effect of tin (II) chloride mordant

The present paper deals with the application of natural dyes extracted from powdered henna (Lawsonia inermis) leaves and madder (Rubia cordifolia) roots on woolen yarn and assessment of effect of stannous chloride mordant on dyeability, color characteristics, fastness properties and antifungal activity of dyed woolen yarn. Sixteen shades have been developed for the characterization of their color characteristics and fastness properties. The color strength (K/S value) has been found to be very good in all dyed woolen yarn samples. The color fastness with respect to light exposure, washing and rubbing was quite satisfactory for both henna as well as madder dyed samples. Henna leaves extract was found very effective against Candida glabrata both in solution as well as after application on wool substrate but no antifungal activity is reported in case of madder both in solution as well as on wool substrate

One of the characteristics of breast cancer is its association with the limitless replicative potential of the malignant cells. This cellular proliferation can be gauged by looking at Ki-67 labelling index, which is a type of proliferation biomarke

Gender representation in Pakistani print media- a critical analysis

The key objective of this study was to examine the representations of men and women in print media in Pakistan. Gender role stereotyping and sexism in print media is not a low-profile gender issue as printed communication and contents still hold an important place in contemporary digital world. Keeping in view the importance of newspapers as the leading source of credible content/messages, this paper examined gender stereotyping and sexism in print media in Pakistan and attempted to highlight whether print media reproduces or challenges gender stereotypes and sexism? Keeping in view the complexity of sexism in print media, content and discourse analyses were performed on four widely read national newspapers. The findings have been placed within the socio-cultural context of Pakistani society and feminists theories. The study’s findings indicated that print media in Pakistan reinforces gender stereotypes and provide little challenge to gender stereotyped imagery of males and females

Flow structures in dividing open channels: a review

The supply of water for human consumption starts with the abstraction of ‘raw’ water from various sources. Most of these facilities convey raw water by pumping it directly from rivers via lateral channels to nearby water treatment plants, but this is badly affected by debris and sediment clogging at the intake structures. Lateral intakes are actually special cases of river bifurcations, where the channel naturally divides into two different branches, each carrying part of the flow and sediment. Many researchers have completed studies on bifurcations/diversions to understand the behaviour of water flow and sediment transport. However, a complete understanding of the phenomenon, especially in relation to secondary flows and vortices, is lacking up to this day. In fact, if this can be overcome, it will greatly contribute to the fundamental study of hydrodynamics at asymmetric fluvial bifurcations as well as in optimal design of diversions. Thus, the distribution of water flow in both main and lateral channels requires further detailed investigation. A review of the current state of research is discussed in this paper, with the objective of identifying the grey areas and gaps specifically in the investigation of complex turbulent behaviour of flow structures in open channels with lateral diversions

UNFOLDING ORGANIZATIONAL RISK AND COST ASSOCIATION FROM STAKEHOLDERS PERSPECTIVE: EVIDENCE FROM ASIAN EMERGING MARKETS

In this study we extend the conventional risk-return debate to a more intriguing and practically significant conundrum of risk-cost association. The analysis is performed on large sample of 4609 listed companies operating in nine Asian emerging markets, using 2SLS estimation. We established that risk act as a specter and have consequences for long term contractual relationship between key stakeholders and organization. Further, organizational costs are directly affected by organizational risks hence it also provides an immediate opportunity to management to take corrective measures. As whole, the empirical evidence provides an essential perspective and insight to understand the nature of organizational risk, slack, stakeholders and it implication for organizational costs in Asian emerging markets.Â
