On a Hybrid Technique to Handle Analytical and Approximate Solutions of Linear and Nonlinear Fractional Order Partial Differential Equations

This manuscript is devoted to consider Natural transform (NT) coupled with homotopy perturbation method (HPM) for obtaining series solutions to some linear and nonlinear fractional partial differential equations (FPDEs). By means of NT, we obtain the transformed problem which is then solved by using HPM. By means of Stehfest’s numerical algorithm and using the dual relationship of NT and Laplace transform, we calculate inverse NT for approximate solutions. The series solutions we obtain using the proposed method are in close agreement with the exact solutions. We apply the proposed method to some interesting problems to illustrate our main results

Composite concrete beam with multi-web cold-formed steel section

Lately, structural engineers use cold-formed steel sections (CFS) in buildings due to its light-weight and easy shaping. Encasing the cold-formed steel sections by concrete avoiding the structure elements some of its disadvantages especially buckling. This paper reports an experimental test program for beams with a multi-web cold-formed steel section encased by reinforced concrete. Eleven (full-scale) specimens have tested under mid-span concentrated load, the experimental test program designed to cover many cold-formed steel section variables such as (web number, web height, and the steel section length). Comparison between the experimental results for specimens with encased steel cold-formed section and that for reference beam have presented. The experimental results show that the cold-formed steel webs number has a noticeable influence on the structural behaviour of the beam, such as increasing the beam load capacity. The beam load capacity, failure mode and the beam ductility have analysed, and some preparatory criteria for a sufficient outline have presented

Approximate Solutions of Some Boundary Value Problems by Using Operational Matrices of Bernstein Polynomials

    Get PDF
In this chapter, we develop an efficient numerical scheme for the solution of boundary value problems of fractional order differential equations as well as their coupled systems by using Bernstein polynomials. On using the mentioned polynomial, we construct operational matrices for both fractional order derivatives and integrations. Also we construct a new matrix for the boundary condition. Based on the suggested method, we convert the considered problem to algebraic equation, which can be easily solved by using Matlab. In the last section, numerical examples are provided to illustrate our main results

Transient Magnetic Field of Energized Buried Grid

    Get PDF
A new approach is adopted in this paper for modeling the transient magnetic field, radiated by buried grid under lightning strokes. This approach summarizes each of three methods: analytical formula, based on electrical dipole theory for determining radiated magnetic field in infinite conductive medium, modified images theory for taking into account the interface in the half space, and transmission line approach for determining the longitudinal and leakage currents. The model can be used to predict the transient characteristic of grounding systems because, it can calculate magnetic field in any points of interest, it is sufficiently accurate, time efficient, and easy to apply
