This article exemplifies research on the subjective life experiences of women with breast cancer, designed from a psychoanalytic perspective. Such research aims to reveal the subjective intrapsychic processes of women suffering from breast cancer, which can provide researchers and health care professionals with useful insight. Using Biographic narrative interpretative method, the study reveals some common denominators in the subjective life experiences of women with breast cancer. The study revealed that the subjects consider the diagnosis of breast cancer as one of the four main events in their lives. Even though these events are very different from each other, in terms of type and severity, the results indicate a common process in the way these life events are experienced by the participants. These results are relevant for health care practitioners in structuring their psychosocial support programs so as to better accommodate their patients' psychological needs

WOS: 000538151800007Background: Nowadays, polymeric composites modified with carbonaceous nanomaterials have been popular due to their greater application potentials in many application fields. However, the structural consistency of the composite prepared by electropolymerization suffers from agglomeration of Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) probably due to their poor dispersion in the coating solution. Present study describes a new synthesis route for the preparation of polypyrrole/CNT composite film on a Glassy Carbon Electrode (GCE) via combining the ultrasonication and electrochemical pulsed deposition for the first time. the performance of the composite film was tested by monitoring the electrochemical oxidation of droxidopa which is used as a new psychoactive drug and synthetic amino acid precursor which acts as a prodrug to the neurotransmitters. Methods: the polypyrrole/CNT composite film was deposited onto a glassy carbon electrode via combining the ultrasonication and electrochemical pulsed deposition. the composite film was characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Fourier Transfer Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) and Cyclic Voltammetry (CV). Then after, the electrochemical behavior of droxidopa was investigated on the GCE/PPy-CNT electrode. Results: SEM images of the surface morphology have revealed a more ordered film formation and enhanced conductivity of the surface has been confirmed by EIS measurements. the synergetic effect of this composite film was tested by monitoring the electrochemical oxidation of a new psychoactive drug; droxidopa at 0.45 V. the influence of solution parameters such as medium pH, pyrrole concentration and amount of CNT along with the instrumental parameters including applied pulse number on the peak formation was investigated by aid of cyclic voltammetry. Under the optimal conditions, by monitoring the oxidation peak in dp mode, two linear ranges have been observed in 4 - 20 mu M which is well suited for droxidopa analysis in pharmaceutical preparations. the limit of detection (S/N=3) was calculated as 1.3 mu M. Conclusion: Present study offers a fast, easy and sensitive method for the determination of droxidopa by providing a novel route for the preparation of PPy-CNT composite films for any further studies.TUBITAKTurkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Arastirma Kurumu (TUBITAK) [114Z153]This study was supported by TUBITAK with a project number 114Z153

Sudden Death of a Pregnant Woman in Third Trimester with No Risk Factor

Acute myocardial infarction in pregnancy is rare and life-threatening for both the mother and the fetus. We present the case of a 31-year-old previously healthy woman with no risk factors at 32 weeks of gestation who applied with vomiting, dyspnea and orthopnea. A respiratory arrest developed followed by loss of the fetal viability, cardiac arrest, and failure of resuscitation. We aim to raise awareness about the clinical approach to pregnant patients who are to be considered with a broad spectrum of differential diagnosis

The impact of childhood trauma and daily life experiences on emotional and psychotic symptom intensity in psychosis: An experience sampling study

Adverse childhood experiences create vulnerability to psychosis through biological and cognitive changes, and that may be observed as an increased emotional and psychotic response to daily life experiences in adulthood. This study aims to examine the effects of childhood maltreatment on psychotic patients' daily stress and emotional and psychotic intensity related to various experiences throughout the day. Daily activities and events, and emotional and psychotic intensity of forty-one psychotic patients were assessed with the Experience Sam-pling Method. The Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ) was used to evaluate childhood adversities. Multi-level regression analyses showed that all trauma subtypes, except for sexual abuse, were associated with increased psychosis and event-stress. Emotional maltreatment was the most associated trauma type with high negative and low positive affect and increased daily stress. Patients reported the highest stress and negative affect related to internal experiences but the lowest stress related to recreational actions. Social activities were also associated with higher positive affect and lower stress and psychosis, with the high CTQ group having greater stress in those activities. Our study demonstrates the negative impact of childhood trauma, especially emotional maltreatment, on daily stress and emotional and psychotic intensity in psychotic patients via different daily experiences
