Reproductive Coercion and Relationship Abuse Among Adolescents and Young Women Seeking Care at School Health Centers.
ObjectiveTo investigate demographic differences and evaluate how reproductive coercion and relationship abuse influences young females' care-seeking and sexual health behaviors.MethodsWe conducted a secondary analysis of cross-sectional baseline survey data from sexually active female students (aged 14-19 years) who sought care from school health centers. Outcomes included recent (previous 3 months) reproductive coercion, physical or sexual adolescent relationship abuse, and nonpartner sexual violence victimization. Cluster-adjusted χ tests compared demographics and generalized linear mixed models estimated associations among reproductive coercion, adolescent relationship abuse (physical and sexual abuse in romantic relationships), and care-seeking and sexual health behaviors.ResultsOf 550 sexually active high school females, 12% reported recent reproductive coercion and 17% reported physical or sexual adolescent relationship abuse, with no significant demographic differences. Prevalence of recent nonpartner sexual violence was 17%. There were no observed significant differences in care-seeking behaviors among those with recent reproductive coercion compared with those without. Physical or sexual adolescent relationship abuse was associated with increased odds of seeking testing or treatment for sexually transmitted infections (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] 2.08, 95% CI 1.05-4.13). Females exposed to both adolescent relationship abuse and reproductive coercion had higher odds of having a partner who was 5 or more years older (aOR 4.66, 95% CI 1.51-14.4), having two or more recent sexual partners (aOR 3.86, 95% CI 1.57-9.48), and using hormonal contraception only (aOR 3.77, 95% CI 1.09-13.1 vs hormonal methods with condoms).ConclusionAlmost one in eight females experienced recent reproductive coercion. We did not observe significant demographic differences in reproductive coercion. Partner age and number of sexual partners may elevate risk for abusive relationships. Relationship abuse is prevalent among high school students seeking care, with no clear pattern for case identification. By failing to identify factors associated with harmful partner behaviors, our results support universal assessment for reproductive coercion and relationship abuse among high school-aged adolescents, involving education, resources, and harm-reduction counseling to all patients.Clinical trial registrationClinicalTrials.gov, NCT01678378
Who does what now? How physics lab instruction impacts student behaviors
While laboratory instruction is a cornerstone of physics education, the
impact of student behaviours in labs on retention, persistence in the field,
and the formation of students' physics identity remains an open question. In
this study, we performed in-lab observations of student actions over two
semesters in two pedagogically different sections of the same introductory
physics course. We used a cluster analysis to identify different categories of
student behaviour and analyzed how they correlate with lab structure and
gender. We find that, in lab structures which fostered collaborative group work
and promoted decision making, there was a task division along gender lines with
respect to laptop and equipment usage (and found no such divide among students

MECHANICAL ANALYSIS OF THE INVERTED GIANT SWING
Strength, balance, flexibility, speed, proper timing, and stamina have long been considered a necessity for the sport of gymnastics. However, the explosive worldwide development of the sport the last decade established another factor --the mastering of swinging --to be of paramount importance for gymnasts desiring to succeed in competition.
Among the different kinds of swings, the giant swing refers to those gymnastic skills which require a full 360 degree rotation of the gymnast's suspended body about a relatively fixed point. Depending on the direction of the rotation, the gymnast's body configuration and the type of handgrasp, the degree of difficulty for the various types of the existing giant swings ranges from low to high. With reference to the horizontal bar, the forward and backward giant swings are considered, for example, fundamental but of low difficulty, whereas the so called "inverted" and "German" giant swinqs are given high marks for difficulty

A laser probe <sup>40</sup>Ar /<sup>39</sup>Ar and INAA investigation of four Apollo granulitic breccias
Infrared laser probe 40Ar/39Ar geochronology, instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) and analytical electron microscopy have been performed on four 0.5 x 1.0 x 0.3 cm polished rock tiles of Apollo 16 and 17 granulitic breccias (60035, 77017, 78155, and 79215). Pyroxene thermometry indicates that these samples were re-equilibrated and underwent peak metamorphic sub-solidus recrystallization at
1000 – 1100°C, which resulted in homogeneous mineral compositions and granoblastic textures.
40Ar/39Ar data from this study reveal that three samples (60035, 77017, and 78155) have peak metamorphic ages of ~4.1 Ga. Sample 79215 has a peak metamorphic age of 3.9 Ga, which may be related to Serenitatis basin formation. All four samples contain moderately high concentrations of meteoritic siderophiles. Enhanced siderophile contents in three of the samples provide evidence for projectile
contamination of their target lithologies occurring prior to peak metamorphism.
Post-peak metamorphism, low-temperature (<300ºC) events caused the partial resetting of argon in the two finer-grained granulites (60035 and 77017). These later events did not alter the mineralogy or texture of the rocks, but caused minor brecciation and the partial release of argon from plagioclase. Interpretation of the low-temperature data indicates partial resetting of the argon systematics to as young as 3.2 Ga for 60035 and 2.3 Ga for 77017. Cosmic ray exposure ages range from 6.4 to ~339 Ma.
Our results increase the amount of high-precision data available for the granulitic breccias and lunar highlands crustal samples. The results demonstrate the survival of pre-Nectarian material on the lunar surface and document the effects of contact metamorphic and impact processes during the pre-Nectarian Epoch, as well as the low-temperature partial resetting of ages by smaller impact events after 3.9 Ga.
The mineralogy and chemical composition of these rocks, as well as exhumation constraints, indicate that the source of heat for metamorphism was within kilometres of the surface via burial beneath impact melt sheets or hot ejecta blankets
Satellite power system: Concept development and evaluation program. Volume 3: Power transmission and reception. Technical summary and assessment
Efforts in the DOE/NASA concept development and evaluation program are discussed for the solar power satellite power transmission and reception system. A technical summary is provided together with a summary of system assessment activities. System options and system definition drivers are described. Major system assessment activities were in support of the reference system definition, solid state system studies, critical technology supporting investigations, and various system and subsystem tradeoffs. These activities are described together with reference system updates and alternative concepts for each of the subsystem areas. Conclusions reached as a result of the numerous analytical and experimental evaluations are presented. Remaining issues for a possible follow-on program are identified
SHOULDER JOINT TORQUES AND THE STRAIGHT ARM/FLEXED HIPS PRESS HANDSTAND ON THE PARALLEL BARS
The recent rapid growth of the sport of gymnastics may be based, among other factors, on its versatility. Gymnasts attempt to win points in each of the various events by combining certain skills into spectucular eye pleasing routines. However, while the sport's governing body gives the athlete considerable freedom to choose or develop the appropriate skills for a particular routine, it also imposes certain restrictions. One of those restrictions is that routines on the floor, rings, and parallel bars should include a press handstand, i.e. a gymnastic skill requiring the slow elevation of an individual's body from an initial (usually an "L") stationary position to a handstand position. Several variations of press handstands exist depending on body configuration between initial and final positions. One of them, the straight arms/flexed hips press (SAFHP), is the variation most commonly used by gymnasts, and is depicted in Figure 3 (see results)
Geometry-induced pulse instability in microdesigned catalysts: the effect of boundary curvature
We explore the effect of boundary curvature on the instability of reactive
pulses in the catalytic oxidation of CO on microdesigned Pt catalysts. Using
ring-shaped domains of various radii, we find that the pulses disappear
(decollate from the inert boundary) at a turning point bifurcation, and trace
this boundary in both physical and geometrical parameter space. These
