Realization of a spontaneous gauge and supersymmetry breaking vacuum
It is one of the major issues to realize a vacuum which breaks supersymmetry
(SUSY) and R-symmetry, in a supersymmetric model. We study the model, where the
same sector breaks the gauge symmetry and SUSY. In general, the SUSY breaking
model without gauge symmetry has a flat direction at the minimum of F-term
scalar potential. When we introduce U(1) gauge symmetry to such a SUSY breaking
model, there can appear a runaway direction. Such a runway direction can be
lifted by loop effects, and the gauge symmetry breaking and SUSY breaking are
realized. The R-symmetry, that is assigned to break SUSY, is also spontaneously
broken at the vacuum. This scenario can be extended to non-Abelian gauge
theories. We also discuss application to the Pati-Salam model and the SU(5)
grand unified theory. We see that non-vanishing gaugino masses are radiatively
generated by the R-symmetry breaking and the gauge messenger contribution.Comment: 23 pages, version accepted in JHE

Web Omnidirectional Image Viewer for Field Event Extraction
A Web-based image viewer for observing an omnidirectional image of fields is proposed. Conventional monitoring systems are monitoring a narrow area of fields, and their image viewers are not optimized for comparing accumulated images. We implemented two functions of the viewer to compare images and conducted an experiment to evaluate their performance. The experimental results showed that Time-travel mode, which partially shows another image in a circular region on an omnidirectional image, had a high degree of usability for extracting field events from accumulated images. The proposed system can help farmers capture comprehensive, panoramic views of their farm for field management.</jats:p
Observations of High Energy Cosmic-Ray Electrons from 30 GeV to 3 TeV with Emulsion Chambers
We have performed a series of cosmic-ray electron observations using the
balloon-borne emulsion chambers since 1968. While we previously reported the
results from subsets of the exposures, the final results of the total exposures
up to 2001 are presented here. Our successive experiments have yielded the
total exposure of 8.19 m^2 sr day at the altitudes of 4.0 - 9.4 g/cm^2. The
performance of the emulsion chambers was examined by accelerator beam tests and
Monte-Carlo simulations, and the on-board calibrations were carried out by
using the flight data. In this work we present the cosmic-ray electron spectrum
in the energy range from 30 GeV to 3 TeV at the top of the atmosphere, which is
well represented by a power-law function with an index of -3.28+-0.10. The
observed data can be also interpreted in terms of diffusive propagation models.
The evidence of cosmic-ray electrons up to 3 TeV suggests the existence of
cosmic-ray electron sources at distances within ~1 kpc and times within ~1x10^5
yr ago.Comment: 38 pages, 10 figures, 3 tables, Accepted for publication in Ap
The gene regulatory system for specifying germ layers in early embryos of the simple chordate
動物胚の遺伝子発現を数式で表現 --動物の胚葉形成システムをまるごと理解--.京都大学プレスリリース. 2021-06-10.In animal embryos, gene regulatory networks control the dynamics of gene expression in cells and coordinate such dynamics among cells. In ascidian embryos, gene expression dynamics have been dissected at the single-cell resolution. Here, we revealed mathematical functions that represent the regulatory logics of all regulatory genes expressed at the 32-cell stage when the germ layers are largely specified. These functions collectively explain the entire mechanism by which gene expression dynamics are controlled coordinately in early embryos. We found that regulatory functions for genes expressed in each of the specific lineages contain a common core regulatory mechanism. Last, we showed that the expression of the regulatory genes became reproducible by calculation and controllable by experimental manipulations. Thus, these regulatory functions represent an architectural design for the germ layer specification of this chordate and provide a platform for simulations and experiments to understand the operating principles of gene regulatory networks
Dampak Struktur Pasar dan Efsiensi terhadap Kinerja Bank Pembangunan Daerah
Conditions Regional Development Bank (BPD) in terms of Business Growth, Markets and Competitiveness within the last three years shows an alarming condition. The study aims to assess the impact of market structure and efficiency of the performance of the BPD in Indonesia. The data used is secondary data in the form of financial statements of banks BPD in 2004-2013. The analytical tool used in this research is panel data regression. The results found that the banking industry in particular BPD in Indonesia supports the traditional hypothesis that assumes that the concentration is a proxy of market power (market power). Variable efficiency is not significant positive effect on the performance
