Aesthetic Energy of an Ordinary Place

The paper discusses the transformation of not a very representative part of the city, important however for the community that resides there. The author keeps track of how a seemingly rather ineffective change, which is the creation of a mural, affects the perception of the surroundings. Urban art is not the true cause of the causative structural changes in the city. The way, however, in which it interacts with the environment and other changes significantly contributes to the creation of socially important sites

Zastosowanie przenośnych ekranów akustycznych w celu obniżenia poziomu hałasu emitowanego w czasie pracy małych maszym roboczych do prac ziemnych.

W referacie przedstawiono wyniki badań dotyczących wykorzystania ekranów akustycznych oraz kotar do zmniejszenia hałasu emitowanego do środowiska podczas pracy małych maszyn roboczych do prac ziemnych. Zostało zaprojektowanych i zbadanych pięć modeli ekranów, ich efektywność akustyczną sprawdzono podczas pracy wybranych maszyn w rzeczywistych warunkach. Analiza otrzymanych wyników pozwoliła na sformułowanie wniosków o praktycznym zastosowaniu. W badaniach wykorzystano program Noise Explorer – Type 7815.This paper shows the results of experiments on use of acoustic screens to lower the noise levels emitted to environment during small earth moving machines operations. Five screen models were designed and examined, and their acoustic efficiency was checked during operation of groundwork machines in real conditions. The analysis of obtained results allowed formulating conclusions which have a practical use. The program Noise Explorer – Type 7815 was used during researches

Aspectos estéticos y éticos de la responsabilidad de las galerías de murales (Análisis comparativo de colecciones en Zaspa / Gdańsk, Łódź y Dulwich / Londres).

L’objectiu de l’article és cridar l’atenció sobre els aspectes estètics i ètics de la responsabilitat de crear galeries murals. Els tres exemples: Monumental Art Collection a Gdańsk / Zaspa, Urban Forms Gallery a Łódź, Dulwich Outdoor Gallery de Londres, tenen objectius originals comuns, directament relacionats amb els problemes actuals dels districtes o ciutats en què van ser creats. L’anàlisi d’aquestes col·leccions ens hauria d’ajudar a respondre a les preguntes següents:1. Què va passar i quan fer possible una interferència visual intensa i massiva en un espai públic com a galeries murals?2. Les col·leccions de murals realment són galeries o el terme “galeria” és només una metàfora conceptual que facilita les accions dutes a terme en un espai públic?3. Quins valors, estètics, ètics i relacionats amb els valors socials, artístics, urbans, cognitius i educatius, poden associar-se al fenomen dels murals?4. Cal protegir i restaurar els murals o deixar-los al “element urbà natural”?The aim of the article is to draw attention to the aesthetic and ethical aspects of responsibility for creating mural galleries. The three examples – Monumental Art Collection in Gdańsk/Zaspa, Urban Forms Gallery in Łódź, Dulwich Outdoor Gallery in London – have common original aims, directly related to the current problems of districts or cities in which they were created. The analysis of these collections should help us answer the following questions: 1. What happened and when to make such a visually intense and massive interference in a public space as mural galleries possible at all? 2. Are collections of murals actually galleries or is the term “gallery″ just a conceptual metaphor that facilitates actions taken in a public space? 3. What values – aesthetic, ethical, and correlated with them social, artistic, urban, cognitive, and educational values – can be associated with the phenomenon of murals? 4. Should we protect and restore murals or leave them to the “natural urban element”?El objetivo del artículo es llamar la atención sobre los aspectos estéticos y éticos de la responsabilidad de crear galerías de murales. Los tres ejemplos - Monumental Art Collection en Gdansk / Zaspa, Urban Forms Gallery en Łódź, Dulwich Outdoor Gallery en Londres - tienen objetivos originales comunes, directamente relacionados con los problemas actuales de los distritos o ciudades en los que se crearon. El análisis de estas colecciones debería ayudarnos a responder las siguientes preguntas:1. ¿Qué sucedió y cuándo hacer posible una interferencia tan intensa y visualmente tan intensa en un espacio público como las galerías de murales?2. ¿Las colecciones de murales en realidad son galerías o el término “galería” es solo una metáfora conceptual que facilita las acciones tomadas en un espacio público?3. ¿Qué valores, estéticos, éticos y correlacionados con ellos, valores sociales, artísticos, urbanos, cognitivos y educativos pueden asociarse con el fenómeno de los murales?4. ¿Debemos proteger y restaurar los murales o dejarlos en el “elemento urbano natural”

The application of acoustic curtains during the renovations works

W referacie przedstawiono wyniki badań doświadczalnych kotar akustycznych. Badane kotary zastosowane były na ogrodzenia placu, gdzie prowadzono prace remontowe. Źródłem dźwięku (hałasu) były małe maszyny robocze do prac ziemnych. Wyniki badań doświadczalnych porównano z wynikami podobnych badań z zastosowaniem przenośnych ekranów akustycznych obniżających hałas powstały podczas pracy tych samych maszyn. W badaniach wykorzystano program Noise Explorer – Type 7815. Analiza otrzymanych wyników pozwoliła na sformułowanie wniosków o praktycznym zastosowaniu.This paper presents the results of experimental studies of acoustic curtains. The tested curtains were used on the fence of square where the renovations works were carried out. The small working machines for earthworks were the source of sound (noise). The results of experimental studies were compared with the results of similar studies with the application of mobile acoustic screens during the work of the same machines. The program Noise Explorer – Type 7815 was used during researches. The analysis of obtained results allowed to formulate the conclusions which have a practical application

THE OLD MARKET IN LODZ – A PLACE WITHOUT AN AXIOLOGICAL IDENTITY. CLASSIC AESTHETIC QUALITIES AS A TRANSFIGURATION POTENTIAL

La dramàtica destrucció d'una gran part de la ciutat vella a Lodz comès pels nazis es va veure agreujada per les autoritats comunistes que van eliminar totes les empremtes de la seva forma i funció. Per aquesta raó el vell mercat, que una vegada va ser el centre històric de la ciutat, es va convertir en inútil i problemàtic. L'objectiu del treball és analitzar les condicions actuals de l'experiència de l'espai urbà en aquesta zona. Assenyalaré els aspectes complexos, contextuals d'aquesta experiència i posar l'accent en el paper de l'anàlisi usant qualitats estètiques clàssiques. La tasca principal és tractar d'entendre quin tipus de revitalització podria transformar aquest territori buit en lloc.The dramatic destruction of a large part of the Old Town in Lodz committed by the Nazis was compounded by the communist authorities that removed all the traces of its form and function. For that reason The Old Market, which was once the historical city centre, became useless and problematic. The aim of the paper is to analyse the current conditions of the experience of the urban space in this area. I'm going to point out the complex, contextual aspects of this experience and to emphasize the role of analysis using classical aesthetic qualities. Modeling of the dynamics of dominoes.

W artykule przedstawiono badania dynamiki łańcucha kostek domina i komputerowe symulacje ich ruchu w układzie 2D. W procesie analizy ruchu kostek badano efekt ich rotacji, zderzania się i tarcia. Przedstawiono wyniki symulacji wirtualnych z wykorzystaniem programu Working Model®. Rezultaty badań numerycznych pokazano w postaci faz ruchu kostek.In this paper a chain of toppling dominoes is subject of the research of dynamics and computer-aided simulations. This dynamic process is investigated as in 2D. Toppling dominoes shows interesting effects such as rotations, collisions, and friction. In this paper the virtual simulations for analysis of dynamics of dominoes using Working Model® software are presented. The results from numerical simulations are shown as phases of movements of dominoes

W referacie przedstawiono problem hałasu komunikacyjnego i sporządzania map akustycznych. Aglomeracje miejskie są szczególnie zagrożone wzrastającym poziomem hałasu komunikacyjnego. Wykonane zgodnie z zaleceniami UE mapy akustyczne miast są istotnym wskaźnikiem określającym stopień zagrożenia hałasem. Celem referatu jest przedstawienie możliwości wykorzystania specjalistycznego oprogramowania do tworzenia strategicznych map hałasu.The paper presents the problem of traffic noise and creation of acoustic maps. The urban agglomerations are particularly affected by increasing level of traffic noise. The acoustic maps of cities, prepared in accordance with EU recommendations, are an important indicator of the level of noise pollution.
