    Aphid (Hemiptera: Aphididae) species determined on herbaceous and shrub plants in Bartin Province in Western Blacksea Region of Turkey

    This study aimed to find out the Aphidoidea species feeding on herbaceous and shrub plants of Bartýn province. As a result, total of 28 aphid species belonging to 14 genus and 4 tribes of the super family Aphidoidea were determined. Of these determined species, Aphis fabae Scopoli, Aphis farinosa J. F. Gmelin, Aphis gossypii Glover, Aphis nerii Boyer de Fonscolombe, Macrosiphum rosae (Linnaeus), Myzus (Nectarosiphon) persicae (Sulzer) were previously recorded from study area while remaining of the identified species were new records for Bartýn province in Turkey

    Wood-destroying Coleopteran species in the historical buildings in Kastamonu, in Turkey

    The aim of this study is to identify the harmful insects causing damage in the historical wooden buildings of Kastamonu. Accordingly, 15 of those historical wooden buildings situated in the city were periodically controlled between the years 2002 and 2005. During those periodic controls, damages caused by insects were detected and additionally, dead and alive insects were collected from the damaged materials. As a result of this study, 7 species from 4 families were identified; these speciesare Anobium punctatum De Geer, Xestobium rufovillosum De Geer, Ernobius mollis (L.), Ptilinus pectinicornis (L.) (Anobiidae), Lyctus brunneus (Steph.) (Lyctidae), Hylotrupes bajulus (L.) (Cerambycidae) and Rhizopertha sp. (Bostriychidae). Except A. punctatum and H. bajulus, the rest are considered as the first records gathered in Kastamonu region

    WOS: 000222303600007In Turkey, 25 species of Coccoidea (Homoptera) are recorded on Conifera tree species. The family Diaspididae has 15, Coccidae 6, Pseudococcidae 3, and Margarodidae I species. Specifically, Dynaspidiotus spp. are recorded on Abies, Cedrus, Picea, and Pinus; Leucaspis spp. on Pinus spp.; Carulaspis spp. on Biota, Cupressus, Juniperus, and Thuja; Lepidosaphes spp. on Abies, Biota, Juniperus, and Picea; Coccus spp. on Abies, Cedrus, and Pinus; and Planococcus spp. on Cupressus, Juniperus, and Pinus species. Acanthomytilus cedricola is recorded only on Cedrus spp.; Physokerines piceae on Abies and Picea species, and Marchalina hellenica only on Pinus species. Two species are Native, five are Cosmopolitan, 15 are Palaearctic, and 3 are of Mediterranean origin
