    Human Capital Accumulation of Salaried and Self-Employed Workers.

    Both human capital accumulation and Lazear contracts can explain the rais- ing wage of salary/wage worker through job experience or tenure. To distin- guish between these two effects, Lazear and Moore (1984) used self-employed workers' wage growth to partial out the effect of human capital accumulation from salary/wage workers' wage growth. When the human capital accumu- lation behavior is identical across two kinds of jobs, the difference in wage growth between salary/wage workers and self-employed workers are due to Lazear contract since self-employed workers' wage are determined by their productivity. However, in the model developed in this paper, when self- employed workers face more wage variation but enjoy a higher return for human capital, human capital accumulation for those two kinds of jobs are shown to be different.HUMAN CAPITAL ; WAGES ; SELF-EMPLOYED

    The Largest Blueshifts of [O III] emission line in Two Narrow-Line Quasars

    We have obtained optical intermediate resolution spectra (R = 3000) of the narrow-line quasars DMS 0059-0055 and PG 1543+489. The [O III] emission line in DMS 0059-0055 is blueshifted by 880 km/s relative to Hbeta. We also confirm that the [O III] emission line in PG 1543+489 has a relative blueshift of 1150 km/s. These two narrow-line quasars show the largest [O III] blueshifts known to date among type 1 active galactic nuclei (AGNs). The [O III] emission lines in both objects are broad (1000 - 2000 km/s) and those in DMS 0059-0055 show strong blue asymmetry. We interpret the large blueshift and the profile of the [O III] lines as the result of an outflow interacting with circumnuclear gas. Among type 1 AGNs with large blueshifted [O III], there is no correlation between the Eddington ratios and the amount of [O III] blueshifts. Combining our new data with published results, we confirm that the Eddington ratios of the such AGNs are the highest among AGNs with the same black hole masses. These facts suggest that the Eddington ratio is a necessary condition or the [O III] blueshifts weakly depend on the Eddington ratio. Our new sample suggests that there are possible necessary conditions to produce an outflow besides a high Eddington ratio: large black hole mass (> 10^7 M_solar) or high mass accretion rate (> 2 M_solar/yr) or large luminosity (lambda L_{lambda} (5100A) > 10^44.6 erg/s).Comment: Accepted for publication in The Astrophysical Journa

    On the classical equivalence of monodromy matrices in squashed sigma model

    We proceed to study the hybrid integrable structure in two-dimensional non-linear sigma models with target space three-dimensional squashed spheres. A quantum affine algebra and a pair of Yangian algebras are realized in the sigma models and, according to them, there are two descriptions to describe the classical dynamics 1) the trigonometric description and 2) the rational description, respectively. For every description, a Lax pair is constructed and the associated monodromy matrix is also constructed. In this paper we show the gauge-equivalence of the monodromy matrices in the trigonometric and rational description under a certain relation between spectral parameters and the rescalings of sl(2) generators.Comment: 32pages, 3figures, references added, introduction and discussion sections revise

    Classical integrability of Schrodinger sigma models and q-deformed Poincare symmetry

    We discuss classical integrable structure of two-dimensional sigma models which have three-dimensional Schrodinger spacetimes as target spaces. The Schrodinger spacetimes are regarded as null-like deformations of AdS_3. The original AdS_3 isometry SL(2,R)_L x SL(2,R)_R is broken to SL(2,R)_L x U(1)_R due to the deformation. According to this symmetry, there are two descriptions to describe the classical dynamics of the system, 1) the SL(2,R)_L description and 2) the enhanced U(1)_R description. In the former 1), we show that the Yangian symmetry is realized by improving the SL(2,R)_L Noether current. Then a Lax pair is constructed with the improved current and the classical integrability is shown by deriving the r/s-matrix algebra. In the latter 2), we find a non-local current by using a scaling limit of warped AdS_3 and that it enhances U(1)_R to a q-deformed Poincare algebra. Then another Lax pair is presented and the corresponding r/s-matrices are also computed.     We consider \gamma-deformations of the AdS_5xS^5 superstring as Yang-Baxter sigma models with classical r-matrices satisfying the classical Yang-Baxter equation (CYBE). An essential point is that the classical r-matrices are composed of Cartan generators only and then generate abelian twists. We present examples of the r-matrices that lead to real \gamma-deformations of the AdS_5xS^5 superstring. Finally we discuss a possible classification of integrable deformations and the corresponding gravity solution in terms of solutions of CYBE.     We consider a quantum affine algebra realized in two-dimensional non-linear sigma models with target space three-dimensional squashed sphere. Its affine generators are explicitly constructed and the Poisson brackets are computed. The defining relations of quantum affine algebra in the sense of the Drinfeld first realization are satisfied at classical level. The relation to the Drinfeld second realization is also discussed including higher conserved charges. This total system was designed to recognize the product design process, individuals and their design process tasks, and the computer-based IPAD System to aid product design. Principal elements of the IPAD System include the host computer and its interactive system software, new executive and data management software, and an open-ended IPAD library of technical programs to match the intended product design process. The basic goal of the IPAD total system is to increase the productivity of the product design organization. Increases in individual productivity were feasible through automation and computer support of routine information handling. Such proven automation can directly decrease cost and flowtime in the product design process
