Depression, Anxiety, Stress and Marital Adjustment among Women

Marriage, especially for women in a patriarchal society involves a huge transition process. The struggle with new responsibilities and expectations is overwhelming in itself. But with the feelings of worthlessness and feeling trapped and bound in a loveless and thankless bond, come distress and adjustment issues. According to a recent Nielsen survey on “Women of Tomorrow”, out of 21 nations and 6500 women, India is a leading nation when it comes to stress in women. About 87% of women were stressed most of the time and 82% claimed that they did not find time to relax. Women in the age range from 22 years to 55 years are the most stressed and are struggling hard to strike a balance between their home lives, social activities and jobs. The present study aims to examine depression, stress, anxiety and adjustment issues among women. A total of 80 married women were selected for the study with 40 working and 40 non-working women. The Revised Dyadic Adjustment Scale and Depression Anxiety Stress Scales were administered to collect data. Negative relationship was obtained between stress, anxiety depression and marital adjustment among married women. Anxiety and Marital adjustment are moderately correlated (-.346) while Stress (-.454) and Depression (-0.487) are highly correlated with marital adjustment

Analytical Performance Comparison of BNP Scheduling Algorithms

Parallel computing is related to the application of many computers running in parallel to solve computationally intensive problems. One of the biggest issues in parallel computing is efficient task scheduling. In this paper, we survey the algorithms that allocate a parallel program represented by an edge-directed acyclic graph (DAG) to a set of homogenous processors with the objective of minimizing the completion time. We examine several such classes of algorithms and then compare the performance of a class of scheduling algorithms known as the bounded number of processors (BNP) scheduling algorithms. Comparison is based on various scheduling parameters such as makespan, speed up, processor utilization and scheduled length ratio. The main focus is given on measuring the impact of increasing the number of tasks and processors on the performance of these four BNP scheduling algorithms

Preparation and Characterization of Phytosomal-Phospholipid Complex of P. Amarus and its Tablet Formulation

Present investigation was aimed at formulation, characterization and evaluation of phytosomal complex tablets for sustained delivery of Phyllanthus amarus complex. Phyllanthin, one of the active lignin present in this plant species was isolated from the aerial parts, by silica gel column chromatography employing gradient elution with hexane −ethyl acetate solvent mixture. It was obtained in high yields (1.23%), compared to reported procedures and the purity was ascertained by HPTLC analysis. Phyllanthin was characterized for M.P, UV −Visible spectrophotometry, FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C and NMR analysis. Release kinetics was evaluated by using United States Pharmacopeia (USP)-22 type I dissolution apparatus. Scanning electron microscopy was used to visualize the effect of dissolution medium on matrix tablet surface. HPTLC was carried out for quantitative and qualitative estimation of Phyllanthin in Phyllanthus amarus and Rf of phyllanthin was found to be about 0.25. The content was found to be maximum for phytosomal complex of phyllanthus formed by vaccum drying of 1:1 drug excipient ratio. The in-vitro drug release study revealed that optimized formulation sustained the drug release for 12 hr (88.1% ± 4.1% release). Fitting the in vitro drug release data to Korsmeyer equation indicated that diffusion along with erosion could be the mechanism of drug release

    Mosaic Variant of Turner Syndrome

Turner syndrome is the most common chromosomal abnormality leading to gonadal failure and primary amenorrhea. While half of the cases have monosomy of chromosome X, the remaining exhibit mosaicism resulting in wide variation of phenotypic characteristics and clinical manifestations. We present a case of a 24-year-old female with mosaic variant Turner syndrome. The diagnosis was confirmed by karyotype analysis and laparoscopy

Abstract: Automated Speech Recognition (ASR) is the ability of a machine or program to recognize the voice commands or take dictation which involves the ability to match a voice pattern against a provided or acquired vocabulary. At present, mainly Hidden Markov Model (HMMs) based speech recognizers are used. This paper aims to build a speech recognition system for Hindi language. Hidden Markov Model Toolkit (HTK) is used to develop the system. It recognizes the isolated words using acoustic word model. The system is trained for 113 Hindi words. Training data has been collected from nine speakers. The experimental results show that the overall accuracy of the presented system with 10 states in HMM topology is 96.61 and 95.49%
